OK, two units in one day is a personal record for me (as is one for half a day). Another personal record is having more than one unit in a unit pack

Frankish Swordsman

Spoiler :
Frankish Swordsman by Virote_Considon

Credits:
-utahjazz7 (props/figures, tutorial)
-kinboat (props/figures)
-Moenir (Flicster)
-Steph (SBB, palette tutorial)
-CamJH (Animations)
-Odintheking (run animation)
-Firaxis (for civ!)
-And all those who've posted in my various poser-related threads!

Some points and problems to note:
-2 .ini files are included, one linking to the Gallic Swordsman sounds, and one linking to sounds found in vanilla
(for people with only vanilla)

-There is a problem with the facial hair, as I accidently attacked it to the neck, and only realized after rendering!
still, I think it is hardly noticable, so shouldn't be a problem :) (although if anyone asks, it's the actor's fault)

-This unit has been game tested, and so far, no poblems have arissen! Although please tell me if you find any...

-Like with most of my units, if you want any of the poser files or such, don't hesitate to ask! I'll be glad to give
them away to anyone who would like to work on this unit some more, or work on another unit based off of this one!

Suggested stats are the same as the Swordsman, but made available for the French If you really want to variate them,
then I guess this one could have a hit-point subtracted, but he could also be given an extra movement point (sort of
like the Gallic Warrior)

Frankish Spearman

Frankish Spearman by Virote_Considon

-Moenir (Flicster)
-Steph (SBB, palette tutorial)
-Odintheking (run animation)
-Firaxis (for civ!)
-And all those who've posted in my various poser-related threads!

Some points and problems to note:

-The unit seems to be facing slightly the wrong direction, although (and this has been tested) not enough to be caused
by accidentaly moving up one direction (so, although the S. direction is looking sort of SE, it is still closer to S
than SE). I don't know what caused it - these are exactly the same animations as used in my Steppe Spearman! Well,
I did make some alterations (the fingers hadn't been set ho hold onto the spear, as the Mongolian PDM does this
already), but nothing to the direction the unit is facing! Maybe it's just an optical illusion, or something, I dunno...

-This unit is game tested, and my initial response is that the above isn't really visible unless you're looking for it,
which is good!

-Like with most of my units, if you want any of the poser files or such, don't hesitate to ask! I'll be glad to give
them away to anyone who would like to work on this unit some more, or work on another unit based off of this one!

-This is my fastest unit ever, taking only the afternoon/early evening to complete! :D

Suggested stats are the same as the Spearman, but made available for the French If you really want to variate them,
then I guess this one could have a hit-point subtracted but with a slightly lower cost (say, 5-10 shields less)

Great collaborative effort, the animations are superb.

Sweet! Just what I needed! Thanks so much, Virote.

I based them off of pictures of Franks I've seen in a couple of books, although this was a while back that I saw them...

And I'll update the spoilers right away :shifty:

I'm not sure they really look Frankish, but they are nice anyway.

D'accord, the headgear looks strange. Is it supposed to be a phrygian cap?

Good work, nonetheless!

Thanks guys!

It's just supposed to be a generic helmet, which I though was Frankish-looking (the pictures I had at the time looked like this).

Hey guys, the helmet's not bad (considering how hard it can be to get things right more than a thousand years after they exist). A lot of Frankish horsemen from the period around Charles Martel to Charlemagne wore helmets with cloth wrapped around the forehead - almost like a turban. I can only assume foot soldiers wore similar gear.

Here's an example from Angus McBride's work -

Yeah, that's the sort of look I was going for.

These look really nice and will certainly get a lot of use. The reason the spearman doesn't face in quite the expected direction is because in the spearman animations utahjazz7 dictates in his tutorial, the Body is rotated. You've copied over the animations but not rotated the body (or something like that). I've had this happen before and had to re-render the damn thing. Just goes to show - always check everything carefully, which means playing your animations through with a close-up camera, and also with the main camera in all the various directions, to check that nothing looks wrong.
