Pre-YuiNES 2 - The Modern World

By surface ships, do you mean combination of cruisers, destroyers, frigates, patrol boats, etc? Also, what do you mean by Amphibious Assault Ships? Do you mean LPH/D/A types?

j_eps would like to express a large interest in Canada.

j_eps would have liked to have posted this earlier, but did not notice this thread until just now.

Player Name: j_eps
Player Interested Nation: Canada
Reason Player Wants Nation: Patriotism, interest in Canadian Politics, wanting to make this virtual Canada better than the one I live in
Player Experience : Have been moderately decent NESer for 2 years. Was about to help destroy Aegypt in INES Ib, and has only ever f***ed up Canada once, in SbNES, but was heavily on tons of medication at that time (and really, looking back, it wasnt TOO much to ask for :mischief:). Has played both Anglophone and Francophone Canadian nations multiple times.

edit: oh wow, didn't realize it was only for the Big 9, but w/e i'll leave it. and i'll read over the OP carefully from now on.

Ok
1. Dldn - Surface Ships are a combination of frigates, cruisers, battleships, but NOT patrol ships. And yes
2. Frozen In Ice - 1 year, unless someone provides an amazing reason they should be 6 months
3. Charles, you have Sweden
4. Bestshot, exactly and Charles needs to fill out an application for the US if he would want it :p
5. J_eps for the last time, if it's not big 9 no application is strictly necessary. But accepted :)

May I ask why?

For some reason, Canadian subs work in 4's. I dont know why. We bought 4 from the UK, and a person died in 2004 on the HMCS Chicoutimi when a fire broke out. A year later, we sold 4 different subs for scrap metal. before that, something else that I cant remember happened with 4 canadian submarines.

And by pure coincidence, within a 2-km radius from my house, there are FOUR submarine sandwich places (1 Mr Sub, 2 Subways, and 1 Quiznos')

EDIT: agree with both points below.

EDIT 2: Shimon Peres is a figurehead. the PM holds the power in Israel, being (for the next, what, a week? Ehud Olmert, and shortly after that a rather large chance that it will be Tzipi Livni)

EDIT 3: Canada's GDP is the 9th highest in the world, higher than Brazil (10th). Canada is a member of the G8, and should be among all of them (and Spain) for highest economic output, not behind brazil. not saying it should all be useable, but if i am reading the stats correctly I am currently lower than Brazil in economic terms.

When does this start exactly? After the whole Georgia-Russia thing? Also will things like the current US financial stuff be reflected?

I think you missed this.

2. Frozen In Ice - 1 year, unless someone provides an amazing reason they should be 6 months

Events move fast. In a matter of a few days the Georgia-Russian war began and finished. Iraq and Afghanistan were overrun in a matter of weeks. This is the information age, things happen quickly.

Player Name:Amon Savag
Player Interested Nation:People's Republic of China
Reason Player Wants Nation:It's a tough job being a super-power, and not many people here have the experience it may take to do a responsible job playing it.
Player Experience : I can't list it all... I'm not going to try. I've lost 2 wars, both in StJNES4 (My first country in a NES ever[Look at my join date to see how ancient that was] when I was Pacifica, and there was nothing I could do about it both times). Ever since that, I've won every war I've fought. I also know how to play in character, which seems to be a dieing trait in the NES community. Besides Azale, I'm the most experienced NESer to post in this thread thus far. It would be a shame to allow china to be played by a less responsible NESer.

Applying for several nations.

Player Name: Neverwonagame3
Player Interested Nation: (Every major power), Australia, Iran
Reason Player Wants Nation: I like playing major powers, Australia is where I live, and Iran stands for political views which are quite outspoken- like me.
Player Experience: Have been in many NESes, though I rarely get a chance to play major powers. Have done reasonably when I have.

Here's a contingency application for my second choice:

Player Name: silver 2039
Player Interested in Nation: Russian Federation
Reason Player Want's Nation: I have knowledge of Russia's geopolitical situation and interests, and Putin is one sexy man. Furthermore Russia's an important nation and I can play it well.
Player Experience: Peoples Republic of China stBNES, India GoobNES, Dar-Al-Islam in one of das's NES, Muscovy in another of das's NES during which I fought Sweden and Poland, France in DisNES, Wagadou Empire, Bactarashan Empire, and Hunnic Empire in ITNES Bengal in BirdNES. I have a wide range of experience, as can be seen.

If you wish for a major nation you must apply for them individually. Please everyone only apply for two nations as more makes it very hard on me.

Hm, that's odd. I'm using GDP PPP, and Brazil is 9th on every scale, while Canada is 13th, 14th, 13th. Care to share your sources? :)

I see. Well, I got mixed up on the PM President situation several times, and will seek to remedy this.

and Silver, this starts on Wednesday(or do you mean in NES, if so, October 1, 2008, and then runs to either March 1st on the first update or January first 2010 , I am leaning towards 6 month updates now.

Also Amon Savag, you are being considered, and it looks to be quite close between you and Silver

I'll just apply for Iran for now, then.

New Zealand has a sub!? And an air division? I didn’t think just having heavy lifters counted?!

Putting my application in for Glorious Leader Kim Jong Il, Son of Benevolent Leader Kim Il Sung!

Player Name: Masada
Player Interested in Nation: The Peoples Democratic Republic of Korea (DKRP)
Reason Player Want's Nation: Big army, dictatorial regime, nuclear weapons, I mean honestly people they are at a premium nowadays. South Korea is also an Imperialist creation which needs to be dealt with!
Player Experience: Not all that much on reflection…
