I have taken a long break from Civ and was thinking on getting back, doing about 1 turn a day in a Team game. Because it’s teams, the AI will have a much greater advantage, as they become much more powerful. But immortal does have a fighting chance.
The roster of course is very small, that’s the sad part. Anyhow, looking for proven deity players who have an interest.

Not a deity level player (more like barely immortal) yet but I'll be watching. Besides, I like the turn/30 seconds thing more.

Couple more months and I think I can at least post something similar to you civ gods. That's the idea, anyway.

Yuk, those are always a nightmare once you get an empire going. What I prefer is the (game doesn't advance until all team members hit END-TURN button) when online.

No, because I`ve been there... done that enough times.
Right now my interesting goal is to beat something that has rediculous amounts of bonuses stacked against you.

Anyhow, I am closing this thread because I am already involved in the game with Snaaty & Dirk, but we are playing it online instead of pbem.

Hmm, well since someone was somewhat interested, here are a couple pics of what is going on at the moment. We won`t be able to continue for another week, but it`s still going faster than it would at a maximum of a turn a day.

I butted heads against Roose trying to steal wonders early, and I seem to have been victorious. I even got oracle first, despite Kub started with marble right by him. Unfortunately I had to stop the builds because Snaaty and Dirk were going to get over-run by the hordes of AI stacks. At least they wiped out the Romans which were too close to us, so that`s one less AI against us.

BTW, Pink is Snaaty, and Green is Dirk.

And did I say we knocked out the Romans... Well that leaves only a few AI left then!

Yes, and unfortuantelly, I thought (as many others at first) that always war meant it was just a FFA. This is not the case. So I ended up going about this throughout the early phases of the game in ways I would never do had I known in advance.

Anyhow, it's still a decent warm-up game. I'm still learning the quirks of the different mechanisms in this scenario, and what does not kill you makes you stronger.

It is not going very far. Seems our turnsets are slowing down at a geometrical rate :P I blame the battle management the most in that... over the micromanagement.

In my next game I will definitely go with a militaristic leader instead.

Well, it picked up speed today... ...we managed to advance towards Kublais capital, but we couldnt keep up in tech and were falling more and more behind. We advanced with Katas, Axes and Phants... ...and the AI countered with Knights, Pikes, Maces and Trebs... ...then, after about 2 hrs and 20 turns of fighting for every tile near our border, the hordes of AI finally broke through on a broad front... ...and crashed our army, took 3 or 4 of our cities and started to roam our land:D

So the winner of the first try is the AI, the HI got beaten by classical KO:king:

I dont have any pics (to be honest, just have found this tread just now and by accident...), but Obs may have some pics of our epic defeat...

Well, the thing is we wanted a really tuff game. If we did have 1 less team we'd have locked up a win, but unfortunately adding another 3 AI's onto the already overwhealming AI powers... was too much.

And getting too many sucky beats on terrible RNG rolls really puts a damper in things. But we can't always choose what the dice-gods give us.

When we start the OFFICIAL 3-player team game, I think we'll also try no-tech trading. That's rather impossible to outtech 9 AI's working together to out-tech just 3 players without the same modifiers.

Anyhow, we did eliminated the Romans at least, but it would have been best to have left one of his cities around IF WE HAD THE OPTION. This would force HIS team to still work with the 3-to-1 disadvantage. But killing off Romans, his teams only get the 2-to-1 disadvantage on their research.

Too bad he didn't found some small city on some beaver & ice island somewhere off in the distance :P

I'm always interested to read about your games -- I could never win at all on Prince until reading some of your logs and working out the WE/SSE strategy. Now I win consistently on Prince and I'm trying Monarch. So far, I'm getting reamed, but I figure it's just a matter of getting my build/tech orders worked out..
