"Go go go go!"

One by one the men jumped from the C-130, parachutes deploying in the clear night sky. Commander Backwards Logic jumped last, with his parachute deploying the least of his worries. The mission had been hastily thrown together when intel had managed to locate man responsible for the whole conflict. After the war had started, he'd gone underground much to the dismay of his military as his nation slowly fell apart above him. Command had put a high price on his head and had invested a ton of resources into his capture. Now, relying on intel almost three days old, Commander Logic and his squad had to infiltrate and extract the menace from his guerrilla campaign.

He ran through every conceivable possibility in his mind as he swayed in the desert air. Would his squad be ambushed on the way in? Has the landing area been compromised? Would all of his soldiers even survive the drop? And even if everything went to plan, would the target still be there? Questions only time could answer weaved through his mind. With the ground approaching, he put it all aside and let his training take over the landing. Parachute cast aside and weapon ready, he made is way to the rendezvous point. As he found his bearing and started his trek, he came across one of his soldiers partially buried in the bloodied sand. Upon closer examination, it looked as though his parachute didn't deploy. The mission had just begun and already one of his own was dead. He hoped it would be the last.

It would not.

Welcome to Night of the Werewolves XXII: The Road to Ruin

This game as you can tell by the opening story will not follow the traditional NoTW storyline. Players will have their character assigned randomly, and their character will remain hidden. Players can reveal themselves to the rest of the community should they want to for role-play purposes or other, but this is solely up to them. Also, this game will introduce a few new concepts, of which I will notify you of in this thread. The first of these changes is the introduction of character statues. There will be three statuses:

Healthy - No restrictions in player activity.
Bound - Character is tied up. Can vote in accusations but cannot carry night actions. This will be explained further later
Injured - Character is injured. Player cannot vote or carry out night actions. This will be explained further later

The second of these changes is a reworking of the voting/accusation system. In many games, a character is often eliminated in the first day. While this is important in establishing voting patterns, I felt it was not fair to said player to get killed before the game really began. As such, the "bound" status as been introduced. How it works:

During the day, there will be an accusation period. In the past, whomever has the most votes against them would be put to death. In this game, a considerable lead is needed to convict the person for sentencing. The following table will show the over/under of votes needed for sentencing:

With more than 20 players in the game: 4 or more votes than next leading vote getter.
With more than 15 players in the game: 3 or more votes than next leading vote getter
With more than 10 players in the game: 2 or more votes than next leading vote getter
With 10 or less players: No over/under.

As GM, I will keep players notified of the over/under # for each day.

For example: With 20 players, player a) gets 14 votes against him and player b) is second with 10 votes. Because player a) leads player b) by 4 votes, under the rules he will be put to death. But what if player b) has 11 votes?

This is where the "bound" character status comes into play. If the leading vote getter does not meet the requirements for death, he will instead be bound. Bound players cannot carry out night actions, but are still alive and can vote in the next day's elections (this includes items and accusations). After 2 nights pass, the player will be untied and no longer restricted in his or her actions. Note: players bound are still susceptible to other player's actions against them.

"Injured" players cannot participate in night actions or vote for anything, but are allowed to communicate in the forums. A player can be injured by a variety of things, of which will remain undisclosed for now. Once injured, a player will remain in this condition for two nights, after which the player will have healed back to full health. Note: players injured are still susceptible to other player's actions against them.

And for those wondering, a player can be both bound and injured at the same time.

Other than these game play changes, this game will operate roughly identical to all previous NoTW games. Days will run 48 hours, with a midday post at 24 hours, and nights will be 24 hours. When the game thread is put up, a list of all players, their statuses, and number of nights remaining for bound/injured players will be available for your perusal. I will also keep a list of all accusation votes for each day, updated at each GM post.

Any questions/concerns regarding this game can be posted here and I will address them as soon as I can.

You may now post!

Hooray! I've been refreshing for this for forever it seems like. Anyways, I'm in for my first Night of the Werewolves ever if you'll have me!

Now to read the changes in this variant...

In! :ar15:

I'll sign up for this.

Twist my arm, will ya. Of course I'm in. :D

I'm in and slightly confused, is it even taking place in a FFH world?

I'm in and slightly confused, is it even taking place in a FFH world?

No it is not. The game will play nearly identical though to games that have followed the FFH storyline.

I'm in and slightly confused, is it even taking place in a FFH world?

I would guess not, which is slightly disappointing. I expect it will be good anyway, but the FFH world is what seperates NOTW from your average mafia game.

Oh no. Roleplaying is what separates NotW from your average mafia game. Who cares what world it is in?

But not everyone roleplays, and you do occasionally get RP in mafia games.

I would say it is FFH that seperates NOTW from mafia games.

You don't get my point. By roleplaying I don't mean playing your role, I mean having a role in the first place. In mafia games you are yourself, which is not the least evidenced by the "clues" pointing to yourself, often in an OOC manner. And the few mafia games that have tried assigning roles have been called "notw-like", such as LF's.

I realize you're a die-hard FFH fanatic Ekolite, but I for one am glad for a bit of refreshment to the series. The FFH games of late have tended to be rather predictable in some ways (oh look there's the Ashen Veil guy!), and it's been hard to be innovative. So while this game may not really be a "Night of the Werewolves" literally, since I doubt we'll see werewolves in it, I probably look forward to it more than I would if it had been another FFH game.
