Hello there,
I have installed CIV4 complete (DVD) on my PC and everythings seems fine. But when I launch the game a popup window tells me that access is denied and to try again with admin privileges. :( But my account has admin priviliges! In any case it's the installation which would need admin privileges, not playing, isn't it? I have tried unistalling, reinstalling, reinstalling in a different location and different partition, nothing changes!:crazyeye:

I have vista 32-bit on my computer HP intel core 2 quad cpu 2.40Ghz, but i don't think the problem is there...

Can anyone help? thanks in advance

Well, actually... ;)

Not sure if this'll work, but have you tried the right-click "Run as Administrator" option? I wouldn't have thought it would need admin rights to run the game itself though, as you note yourself.

Thanks for the idea. Tried to reinstall it by clicking right button 'run as administrator'. installed correctly I think, but still doesn't work! I have no idea why.

i stopped the antivirus but doesn't make a difference. Yes reinstalled after unistalling.

I've kooked at the folders created by the installation. It looks a little odd to me. the shortcuts lead to nowhere as the system can't find them. Is that normal?

thanks for the warm welcome, and for helping me out.

Vista admin right handling and User Access Control in general is not your friend. I turned it all off and run my account as admin. Yes, it is a security risk, but now I can use my rig without being annoyed to death.

Try running the .exe file as administrator.

It worked!!!! yeah!! I did not turn off the User Access Control but went to the folder itself and run as administrator and it worked! And now if I go to the games explorer and double click it works normally as it should have since the beginning. Thank you! A piece of collaborative fixing! Now I can enjoy this fantastic game. Will come back to this place more often, it is really worth it!
