A Brave New World Part 2

EQ... HEY EQ... HEY!!! I sent my orders when i was talking to you on aim and i hope they work to help me dominate the world when i attack EVERYONE in this turn and take them by surprise and they'll never see it coming right?

Then we are fortunate that our plan has made contingencies for this kind of thing and will be prepared to smash your armies as they come.

Fortunately for me I have yet to send orders, so I can prepare my defenses accordingly. :p

EQ... HEY EQ... HEY!!! I sent my orders when i was talking to you on aim and i hope they work to help me dominate the world when i attack EVERYONE in this turn and take them by surprise and they'll never see it coming right?

Now was a very bad time for Germany to become fanatically pacifist.

Orders are coming soon. I ran a half marathon this morning, a little tired. They will be in before the deadline.

@Espoir: You're more than welcome to join in. Take a look at the stats list on the front page, and if there's an unclaimed nation that interests you, shoot me a PM about it, and I'll fill you in on the country.

North American News Report

ALBANY ELECTIONS. Albany, Republic of Albany. This year’s elections in the nation of Albany have focused on the undesirable economic situation of the country, with nearly 20% of the population unemployed. Recent demand has risen from the rightist Conservative Party for admission of the nation as a state in the Republic of New England, hoping that union with the much stronger economic power could revitalize the domestic situation in New York. The Liberal Party insisted on instead focusing on building up the infrastructure in the interior of the nation, and focusing on a drive of gaining independence from the New England Protectorate. The Moderate Party, promising a plebiscite and efforts on internal development, won the election, and have agreed to hold a plebiscite on the possibility of unification with New England in 1912, giving a year for Congressional debate. (+2 Stability)

LOUISIANA ELECTIONS. New Orleans, Empire of Louisiana. Foreign affairs dominated this year’s elections in Louisiana. The recent mobilization and threats of war with Georgia has brought about a tremendous backlash against the emperor and government. The lack of voting rights for non-landed citizens has sparked riots and protests against the government. Socialist riots have devastated some cities, and demands have been made for voting reform and demobilization. Regardless of popular demand, elections still went forward, and the Conservative Party won the vote on promises of maintaining Louisianan strength and acting as a bulwark against socialism. (-3 Stability)

ALGONQUIN ELECTIONS. Fox Falls, Algonquin Nation. This year’s elections in the Algonquin Nation focused primarily on domestic affairs, calling for internal development and reconciliation among the Algonquin tribes. The Moderate Party managed to win reelection to high office, promising to stabilize the country and to build up the economy. They have promised to increase ties with their friends in Canada and New England. (+2 Stability)

REVOLUTION IN NEZ PERCE. Avig, Nez Perce. The ideals of the Union of Mexico appear to many to have been contagious. Upon their return from the battlefields to the south, the soldiers of the Nez Perce looked around and found equal problems at home. The military, along with noted civilian political leaders, agreed that the ideals of socialism stood more in common with traditional Native American ideals than that of monarchy. They therefore marched upon the Royal Palace, and the former French-supported monarchy was at last ended. A new socialist government has been declared, with both the support of the military and the people.

NEW ROYAL HOUSE IN VIRGINIA. Richmond, Virginian Empire. A brutal assassination took place this year, resulting in the death of Robert II, who was renown for his efforts at domestic reform throughout the nation. The heir apparent, thanks to disqualification, was only the King of the Netherlands. Popular protests and political maneuvering has resulted in the end of the House of Lee-Orange, and the rise of the House of Rockefeller. The new King Henry II has pledged to maintain Virginian power, and to reverse the few wrongs made by Robert II in his last few years of rule over the nation. There have been limited demonstrations by the Ku Klux Klan and other organizations, showing favor for the establishment of a republic and the end of the monarchy all together. (-1 Stability)

MEXICAN CIVIL WAR ENDS. Mexico City, Union of Mexico. After this year’s final few battles, the war for the fate of Mexico has at last come to an end. A last, bloody gamble was made by the emperor for control of Mexico City, and the attack was repulsed. Upon this, the emperor fled overseas to Germany, and his abandoned soldiers surrendered to the leftist forces. The navy has been seized by the new leftist government, and the admirals have agreed to serve the Union. The remaining military forces have been incorporated into the unified military, and the new government has pledged to send as many as they can home. No official new government has been proclaimed and the country remains in a state of flux.

TENSIONS ON THE GULF OF MEXICO. Vicksburg, Georgia. As threats of war grow between Georgia and the Gulf Alliance, many seem rightfully afraid of conflict. Border skirmishes took place this year along the Louisianan-Georgian border, when artillery duels occurred across the Mississippi River. No one is quite sure who started the barrages, but trade has been affected on the river, and the other Mississippi River nations have denounced the violence. The Louisiana government has mobilized in response to threats of war against Florida by Georgia, and the Gulf Alliance has approved the transfer of forces into Florida. As events escalated, the Georgian heavy cruiser, the Augusta exploded in Kingston harbor in Jamaica. The Georgian authorities have blamed Gulf Alliance espionage for the explosion, claiming they have supported Jamaican revolutionaries.
Casualty List
Georgia: 1 Artillery Brigade, 1 Heavy Cruiser
Louisiana: 1 Artillery Brigade

TENNESSEE SLAVE REFORM. Nashville, Tennessee. In a peculiar series of moves, the Tennessee monarchy has nationalized all slaves within the national borders. All slaves in the nation now answer to national authority instead of local ones. This has sparked incredible turmoil in this North American nation, as the Ku Klux Klan gains strength. In response to the growing anti-monarchist movement, the government has outlawed this political organization which has sparked riots. The economy has also been thrown into chaos, as plantations and factories go out of business without their free labor. With few whites willing to do . .. .. .. .. .. . work, the economy has taken a tremendous dive as whites riot against the government. (-2 EP, -3 Stability)

LOUISIANA RETURNS FLORIDIAN LAND. Pensacola, Florida. To the delight of the Floridian government, the Louisianan nation has returned most of the territory taken during the Seminole War for Independence. The Floridian military has moved in to secure the region, setting up defensive positions along the Georgian border, in case of war against the northern neighbor. Louisiana has retained a small buffer region along the Mississippi River, a minor disappointment for St. Augustine.

BUENOS AIRES ELECTIONS. Buenos Aires, Buenos Aires Protectorate. The formation of the Socialist Union of South America and the fall of La Plata to communism preys on the minds of most voters in Buenos Aires. In order to prevent the fall of the nation to socialism, the nation has once more voted the Conservative Party into office. However, debate raised in this year’s elections, as a growing group within the Liberal Party begins arguing for socialistic reforms and instead of fighting the socialists, attempting to trade and develop with them, claiming that they have only peaceful intentions. The Liberals have managed to gain a much stronger holding in the government, threatening the Conservative power base. (-1 Stability)

PEACE MADE IN COLOMBIA. Bogota, Colombia. Due to the bloody stalemate and fighting of last year, and the new regime change in Virginia, peace has been signed in the nation of Colombia. Trade and economic development are growing at a previously unimaginable rate. (+2 EP for Swedish Empire)

DANISH ELECTIONS. Copenhagen, Danish Empire. Predominant on the minds of Danish voters is the growth of Swedish and German power, fearful of claims on Danish territory. Though the Konservative Folkparti won this year’s elections, they lost some holdings in Parliament, as more leftist parties began to gain a hold. The various leftist groups, while disjointed and much smaller than the larger Konservative one, have argued for the breaking of the alliance with Germany and Sweden, and the growth of internal Danish economic strength and isolationism. (-1 Stability)

PORTUGAL ELECTIONS. Lisbon, Portugal. As zeppelins soar through the skies, so does the Portuguese economy and nation. The Moderate Party enjoys unparalleled popularity in comparison to other nations’ ruling regimes, and they have easily dominated this year’s elections. The government has pledged to maintain Portugal’s economic growth, and in order to secure it, has promised to build up the national defense. This year’s recruitment drive was the first step, securing a much larger Portuguese military to “defend our nation’s prosperity.” (+1 Stability)

FRENCH IMPERIAL ELECTIONS. Paris, French Empire. Elections this year in France marked a growing social divide in the nation, as socialists and nationalists sparred against the reigning imperial party. In a move of obvious fraud, the reigning party modified the votes to exclude the others from a plural victory in the electorate. This has sparked riots among the various factions in France, and socialist groups have rebelled across the northern part of the country. In the south, French Nationalist Party groups have also demonstrated against the government. Many feel that these elections could be, despite the turmoil, a brief calm before the storm.

A NEW ROYAL MARRIAGE. Amsterdam, Empire of the Netherlands. The Dutch and German royal families have celebrated a marriage this year as the second and only unmarried daughter of the House of Orange married the prince of the German Empire. OKTOBERFEST IN GERMANY. Munich, German Empire. The Kaiser Wilhelm II spoke at this year’s hundredth anniversary of the Oktoberfest celebration, proclaiming the years ahead to be a Golden Time of German power. The influx of new technologies and the growth of global trade in the German sphere of influence seems to mark the 1910s as an era of growing German power and prosperity. Wilhelm II has pledged to keep Germany as one of the greatest powers of the world and to maintain German strength in combat and technology.

ANGLO-CELTIC WAR. Dublin, Celtic Union. While trenches remain stable on the Scottish front, the fighting has taken a dramatic turn on the strategic scale. With the support of a new zeppelin line opened between Portugal and the Celtic Union, the Celts have begun shipping reinforcements and supplies by air, over the Anglo-German blockade. With the aid of New Englander and Portuguese advisors, a new organization has been established, the Celtic Zeppelin Arm of the Navy. As their first operations, they launched a strike against a small German task force in the Irish Sea. Newly constructed zeppelin bombers had unexpected and wild success against the Germans, remaining well out of firing range of the enemy ships. A German dreadnought was sent to the bottom of the ocean, and several others were damaged beyond repair. This defeat has shocked the German populace and government, shaming the German Kaiserliche Marine.

TUNISIA ELECTIONS. Tunis, Tunisia. Demand for domestic reform has at last hit the nation of Tunisia. TURMOIL CONTINUES IN PERSIA. Tehran, Persia. Infighting has continued in the Persian republic, as elements of the military attempt to seize power for themselves. This year has seen over a half dozen attempts by various commanders to seize power regionally or nationally. The military remains disjointed and fighting among themselves. The republican government retains only de facto control of perhaps fifty percent of the army and barely maintains the war effort. Some elements of the military have launched attacks against Virginian supply trains and bases, causing severe logistical issues for the coalition in Persia. The bloodshed continues to escalate, while the republican government attempts to retain control.
Casualty List
Persia: 15 Infantry Brigades, 14 Artillery Brigades
Virginia: 5 Infantry Brigades

SUEZ WAR. Ankara, Ottoman Empire. The war in the Ottoman Empire seems to have reached its climax, as coalition forces win multiple victories against the Ottomans throughout the year. The smallest victory came with a minor Arab offensive into the Ottoman Empire, seizing some undefended land, but halting when they came up against Ottoman defensive forces. They managed to meet up with Persian and Virginian forces in the northeast, and have once more begun consolidating their lines. In the eastern theater, early Persian attacks against Ottoman forces were uncoordinated and easily repulsed by the defending trench positions. Late in the year, however, the Ottoman forces received an unpleasant surprised. Virginian forces appeared on the front using a clanking machination code-named the “tank” as well as some armored cars with machine guns. Along with the support of these vehicles, the Virginians and what support they could get from the Persians, managed to break the Ottoman line, and the Ottomans continue to rout to the east, as Baghdad falls once more. Fighting continued in Palestine this year, as coalition forces dug in, in preparation for an Ottoman offensive. On cue, the Ottomans launched a wave against the Dutch and Virginian positions, receiving incredibly high casualties. The Virginians, exploiting the situation, made an offensive on their own, breaking the Ottoman forces, and dragging the Dutch along for the ride. Jerusalem fell to the Virginian onslaught, and they continued their advance north, until the Ottomans were able to assemble a new defensive line and bloodily halt the offensive. The Greeks, pinned down in brutal fighting in their initial landing zone, made a new landing to the north, in the hopes of breaking the stalemate. Surprised while preparing a new offensive, the Greeks managed to secure a larger landing area. After a series of brutal battles, the Greek army has secured much of the western coast of Asia Minor through sheer numbers.

Virginia: 33 Infantry Brigades, 7 Artillery Brigades
Persia: 47 Infantry Brigades, 28 Artillery Brigades

Asian/Pacific News Report

FIGHTING IN CHINA. Guangzhou, Guangxi. The United Front scored two major victories this year, one politically, and the other militarily. In attempt to consolidate their control over China, the Korean government attempted to directly annex the nation of Guangxi, outraging local leaders, and the warlord who almost let it take place was arrested and executed. A new warlord has risen, and had joined the united front alongside the Republic of China. Guangxi has fought some major engagements against the Koreans, and have lost some territory, though they managed to defeat some smaller Korean forces in the south. To the west, the Republicans have managed to overwhelm the army of Yunnan with a larger force, taking Kunming from the warlord. They managed to outflank most of the warlord’s positions, though he has retreated toward the coastline. In the north, with the support of Shanxi, the Republic of China has managed to gain some limited territory from the emperor, though they have fallen just short of Zhengzhou. Korean forces managed to halt the advance, as fighting escalated. At sea, a naval confrontation took place between Korean and Swedish ships, and it is reported that a pair of Korean destroyers attempting to run the blockade were sunk by the Swedish Royal Navy. We believe that this war serves very little purpose to either side. We are willing to offer a peace now for status quo ante bellum. Should English and German troops withdraw, we are willing to return to as it was before the war.

@Milarqui: Your guesses about EP are wrong. I’m not changing them any further. Also, if you say “erase all orders” I do it. Keep that in mind for the future.

I added five new techs to the tech tree thanks to research. Be sure to check it out.

The Imports/Exports have been updated and edited. They now only express the single top importer/exporter for your nation. This is mostly for my own ease of use and updating. In addition to this, some nation’s EP has been adjusted to measure in the new spheres of trade, some shrinking and others growing. Please check your stats to note the change.

In regards to the Mexican Civil War, casualties were not added due to the confused status of Mexico at the moment, some soldiers have been taken away, but the reunification of the nation makes exact numbers of deaths and overall casualties more difficult to calculate.

Oh so now war is inevitable. From now on our diplomats will not be meeting with such cowards as those in Savannah. The Texan Republic believes that the loss of your precious ship is caused by dissenting residents of Jamaica rather than any member of the Gulf Alliance.
