What has choxorn been up to?

Sitting around in the dimension of unexistance, due to not enough time in RL the partial unexistance of DYOS 1.

What has Mythmonster2 been up to?
Not much, just flying towards Arrakis, plotting destruction of CFC.

If you can find a way to reanimate him, though not sure how you can implement that with 1940s technologies in that old bunker :p. Though more than likely you're going to end up with just a robotic shell instead of a cyborg. Same story with N-K Necrosis in the Star Wars universe (Which is also built from the chassis of Grevious's body.)

in 1940 there wernt cyborg robots or zombies or world wide avatar wars were there?

Why are you even bringing up a topic that was mentioned three months back?! Move on!

Cause he's kill fire, he does crap like that.

What has Thorvald been up to?

Roughly three weeks ago, I started work on a little creative endeavour of mine. In terms of my 'artistic' ability it was my most ambitious project to date. I combined a drawing style which I had no background in with replicating scenes from a live-action video: transcribing the characters from A into the setting of B.
I scared myself with how well it turned out. In fact, I still scare myself when I look over it. Would I knew how to colour, it is definitely a piece I will return to. Perhaps some day I'll even exhibit it on these forums.

Apart from breaking the limits I felt as a cartoonist, it also physically broke the mechanical pencil I used for drawing ever since I became serious about it. Finishing the work with a different pencil furthered that sense of transition. Tl;dr: since then, I have been working with .7mm lead, rather than the .5mm I'm used to.

So what does this mean for all of you? First off, as noticeable in my latest cartoon, the lines are much thicker. On the plus side, the lead doesn't break nearly as often as before; on the other hand, the details are not as delicate. Secondly, I learned how to scan properly. It is phenomenally better for the output scan to be the size of the final product, rather than resizing it during editing. Again, a double edge: there's much less to clean up, but the borders aren't as sharp, meaning what is left to clean is harder. Most noticeably for me, my hand-written text is a lot blurrier (although this is partly due to a blunt edge to begin with).

Anyway, the point I'm coming to is: I now have two methods of comicking; which do you prefer? I can keep what I learned, meaning smoother, albeit dirtier pages; or I can continue the inefficient method I've done since the beginning, meaning poorer resolution, but a sharper image.

I cant believe I've started the "What has <poster> been up to?". Anyway, It looks good :D.

We can bring the poor soul back again, either for psychological examination or as another Combine interrogatee...

The guy that we saw in your comic? If so, the closest thing I can use for Garry's Mod is Old Snake from Metal Gear. Though the patch/eye implant is on the other eye. Though right now I am brainstorming a Combine ambush so him being a Combine interrogatee may be in the cards.

What has TB been up to?

Umm...nothing, actually, although I did finally post a comic after ages of reading webcomics unending work.

Now, I've been considering drawing template poses of Patrick and Sandy (due to thier lack of G-Mod representation). The idea is that I sketch them and colour them in on Photoshop, then post them up so that everyone can nick them. Should I go ahead with this?

What has Taillesskangaru been up to?

Homework, tests, assignments, assessments. The next few weeks are going to be a minefield of more homework, tests, assignments and assessments (including three major exams in early June. Oh joy!). Don't expect too many updates from me, though I'm trying to manage my time more effectively (lurking less on these forums for instance. The Internet can suck away all your waking hours if you're not careful.)

Anyway, in my spare time I've been throwing around ideas for the story, including flashback episodes on how TK and Company get to Arrakis, and more on the mysterious organization the Narrator is working for. The main challenges is to make the personalities of secondary characters like the Narrator and Rocket show and to link the plot to the main Arrakis storyline. I know, the Combine kidnapping was cheap, but I didn't have any other ideas.

So, drawing-wise, I've been experimenting with different drawing styles. I work mostly on light, shading and shadow. I hope to draw all future comics in pencil from now on, as I feel more comfortable with it and put in a lot more detail. The problem with this is that my scanner can't scan pencil drawings well. Besides that, it takes > 10 minutes to properly scan a single A4 page, and the quality is so bad I had to spend more than an hour improving them, and still end up with a substandard comic. Thinking of buying a new scanner as soon as I have the money.

e350tb: Go for it I'd say. I might do the same for my characters if I can be bothered.

Thorvald of Lym: Seeing as your method will continue to improve I'd say continue with the new style and go from there.

Correction: What is Thorvald up to now?

So recently, I felt compelled to acquire wiki software. Then I got the bright idea that since DYOS is almost a force unto itself, I could write a wiki on it. A few hours of sleep deprivation later, and I started putting something together. Now, it's locally-based, and I have neither the skill nor devotion to set up a public server, but nevertheless I thought it might be useful some time in the future to have a historical record of our adventures. If any of you have ideas (and especially drafts) for articles, feel free to PM me and I'll add them in... especially since my knowledge of the tradition only begins around DYOS 5.

Hmm, perhaps if we can nudge Till in hosting our wiki, he might :).

That sounds like a brilliant idea, although it would make a strange history... :D

You have no idea. :cooool:
Spoiler Teaser :
The Treaty of Paris, 2008, commonly referred to as the Eiffel Treaty (as it was signed and drafted on the grounds of the Eiffel Tower), officially ended the Second Napoleonic War and reinstated the constitution of the Fifth Republic. State representatives included Marshal Maxim Brusilov of the Eastern Union, and Field Marshal Bernard Montgomery of the Free Western Army. Général d'Armée Jean-Louis Georgelin acted as representative of France, as both Napoléon Bonaparte and Otto von Bismarck were MIA after the fall of Paris. In exchange for total surrender, the French military and Parliament remained intact, although subject to oversight by the occupying forces.

@CG: Coincidentally, Till pointed me in the direction of the program I've been using.

I can already see this article:

Spoiler :
DYOS 2 was the second installment of Draw Your Own Story. As it was deleted long ago, before the Civfanatics Server Overload, little is known about it.
