Hello all. This thread is to summarize Open Role Play challenge games that I will be hosting. An open challenge means you all play teh game, and I simply watch as opposed to the Classic Mad Scientist RPCs that I publically played out (and often enough embarressed myself :crazyeye:).

They are meant to be fun and perhaps educational, so enjoy. There are no probelam with restarts or rule alterations, just keep you posted screenshots in spoilers. Feel free to post any suggestions in this thread, it will be linked in my signature.

There are also no experation dates, so feel free to bump up an older Open RPC if you like.

I am not sure how often I will post games, figure 1 every 1-4 weeks for now

Past Open RPCs

The Great Khan: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=277048 A huge Pangea Map with Ghengis Khan. You have to raze every AI city and get a domination win. You also need to build the Great wall (but have easy access to stone). An excellent game to learn how to max out Great general production.

Barbarric Monty: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=323906 You are on a Tropical Terra map, isolated in the new world. You must defeat a slew of Agressive Old World leaders, some war-mongers and other Zealots. And of course there are raging barbarrians to keep you on your toes!

Sneaky Mao: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?p=8197507#post8197507 You are Mao Zhedong on an arid Big/Small standard sized map and need to win a Space Race game using espionage!

Atlantis! http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?p=8220064#post8220064 You are Gilgamesh and isolated in paradise. You must win a peaceful game as you are forbidden to move any unit off your paradise but extensive navies are permitted (and encouraged!)

War-Monger Gandhi http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?p=8274593#post8274593 You are gandhi on a Pangea Map with 9 other AIs and the aggressive AI setting on! Go get them!

The next Open RPC is up! If you have any ideas for future open RPCs let me know!

The next open RPC is ready, ATLANTIS!

The next open RPC will be mid-July, and it will be return of a classic. Yes, you all get a chance to play as Gandhi the War-Monger!

Oy. I just took a look at the end of that Ghandi game. Yikes.

When you set up the open RPC for us, could you maybe make it on a normal sized pangea map. The low sea level's a good idea, as you can crank up the number of civs to 9.

I've got an idea for you. How about Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater. Born from the recent development in my life of my wife deciding to go vegan, how about a game where we're not allowed to use any animal tiles for food or luxury items? That means no pastures on sheep, cows or pigs. It also means no deer, fur, or ivory. No crabs, fish, or clams either, but I'm going to allow whales, but only because whale watching would make vegans happy. Oh, and I think no Silk either. I'll have to check into that one.

I'm also going to allow horses (which is highly questionable, but I don't think most vegans are against horseback riding) BUT you are not allowed to build anti-mounted unit spears or pikes. You'll be allowed to build other units with the formation promotion, but only because that implies that your ground troops are highly skilled at disabling the riders without injuring the horses.

If (when) you conquer enemy cities, you must immediately replace any animal tile improvements with something else, and it is highly desirable to pillage pastures and fishing boats as often as possible, including through the use of privateers and spies during peace time.

I chose Peter because of 1. He's expansive, and the +2 Health will be important. 2. Because of the catchy name. The fact is, PHI is not really a good match for this game, since the lack of food won't play well with wanting to run a bunch of specialists.

For the map, I would hope to at least give him the opportunity to get his hands on the remaining health resources somewhere on the continent. Other than that, it would probably be a good idea to provide farmable land around what would be the core Russian cities and maybe access to either stone or marble to go with the philosophical trait and make up a little bit for the lack of food.

Okay, I checked into Silk. Apparently silk is also a no-no, BUT I did find information on cruelty-free silk, so here's the deal. In this game, you can work whales, silk, and elephants, but you may not trade for them. The happiness you get from them is different from the happiness other civilizations get from them.

I like your idea but the rules are complex. How about this: No working of animal resources. No trading of those resources. No building of spears or pikes (rifles??). A vegan challenge. :)

Not sure where to go next, but expect the Gandhi game in a day or so. The Atlantis game still has a good following and I do not want to inundate the Forum with multiple open RPCs.

Gandhi will be on a low shoreline Pangea map with a Standard sized map as some people have wanted this. Of course it's an RPC where I can manipulate the map, so we shall see....

After that I am looking at a builders challenge, the WS/SSE people versus those not intersted in that.
