I still need to read Dune Messiah.

You might enjoy Self-Help Nation by Tom Tiede. He makes a scathing attack on prominent self-help books (The Secret among them) and the incompetency of their authors.

Just finished P.J O'Rouke's Parliament of Whores. Its a very funny book...and prob the only "conservative" book I've ever thought was funny.

Started reading Paradise Lost. It's quite an interesting take on the whole god & Satan myth. It's like an adventure story with Satan as the protagonist.

For example, a female creature or angel arose from Satan's head while Satan still lived in Heaven. Sort of like the budding of microorganisms, I guess. That creature or angel was a beautiful female person who became Satan's consort. She became pregnant, and while Satan was away, gave birth to a child. The child was a monstrous creature, that eventually raped his own mother (Satan's consort). The children of that particular union were a bunch of howling dogs, that would occasionally go back into Satan's consort's vagina, and continue howling while in her uterus. While in the uterus, they would eat her insides. Satan's consort's extremities were reptilian.

I'm rereading Crazy As Me by Lim Yo Hwan, as well as slowly working on Jesus The Christ by James E. Talmage.

I know I've said this before, but that book is the best non-scripture religious book I have ever read. It totally changed the way I read the bible. It kept me sane on my mission, since I think its really the only book in the standard missionary library that is written on a truly "adult" level. I recommend it to all.

True story:

I decided that the dictionary was kosher, as it was in the apartment and had some perfectly legitimate uses. I got up to "D" before I got transferred from that apartment.

I read fragments of the book The Secret a few weeks ago. If anyone doesn't know, it's a self help book. It's nigh lawsuit-proof because if good things fail to happen to the reader, the writers of The Secret can simply say, "You have to wait longer" or "You weren't actually thinking positively enough".

It's pure genius, and extremely evil.

You sound envious.

Just recently finished A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court, which was par for the Mark Twain course as far as little philosophical tidbits sprinkled through the text. What really makes the book are Dan Beard's illustrations; the pictures might have more to say than the text.

I'm reading Bagombo Snuff Box by Kurt Vonnegut. It's a collection of his short stories, and it's quite enjoyable. The plots are a lot easier to follow than Vonnegut plots usually are.

I still need to read Dune Messiah.

We're absurdly over-intelligent with identical personalities.

Now that I have two children which need my support and care, I'll wander off into the desert and die for no particular reason.

Wahh.

THE END

Well now that's out of the way, I can focus on Colossus by Niall Ferguson. He takes an objective approach to the subject of American Empire and dares to suggest that American imperialism may be good for the world... if the people are willing to put the necessary effort into it.

"The Pursuit of Glory: Europe 1648-1815" Tim Blanning.......Very good so far.

Tam Lin- Pamela Dean.

Der Kleine Prinz (The Little Prince) - Antoine de Saint-Exupéry (auf Deutsch)
