What is Civ of the Week?
Spoiler :
Civ of the Week is a project aiming at bringing you a new, fresh, exotic, and most of all, random, civ every 1-2 weeks, from all corners of the globe, from the Vietnamese to the Mittanni to the Iraqis.
Each civilization features full civilopedia text entires, 1-2 leaders with slightly more unique attitudes (they're not simply a copy of another leader), a UU, a UB, audio, and full graphics.
The purpose of Civ of the Week, then, is two-fold:
1. To bring you random civs that would probably not have been chosen as civilizations first of all, and to provide a new, more exotic, more interesting experience in choosing civilizations.
2. To promote more knowledge of lesser-known peoples, cultures, and histories.
Otherwise, then, enjoy!

Statistics and Information for the Makurians:
Spoiler :
Description: Makuria was the most powerful of three Nubian kingdoms of the medieval era. Founded around the time of Constantine the Great in Rome, Makuria converted to Christianity within a few centuries and became a bastion of Christianity against the rising tide of Islam later.
For much of its history, Makuria survived against Islamic excursions through the paying of a bakt, a kind of tribute, towards the rulers of Egypt. Still, Makuria was a sophisticated and prosperous civilization, and at times it was able to successfully fend off Islamic attacks. The Makurians depended on trade with their Islamic neighbors to the north; the slave trade was particularly prosperous, as many of the slave-soldiers of Egypt came from Makuria.
Makuria survived for about a thousand years, before succumbing to a declining economy and out-right civil war. Eventually, the surrounding Islamic nations took advantage of Makuria's weakness and eventually conquered the Christian African civilization.
Leader: Merkurios (Spiritual, Expansive)
UU: Sudanese Warband (Replaces Pikeman) (+1 strength)
UB: Nubian Potter (Replaces Forge) (+2 happiness)
