Congratulations, WastinTime, on the 3+ Million Score!

No doubt Sid's Sushi is being used to great effect on the Big and Small map where seafood is plentiful. However, it is amazing that such a high score could be achieved on a Small Map.

Extremely impressive Game!

Thanks, My 2.1 million score game was on Tiny and I knew I ran out of space, so that would be beatable. Small also got a little tight, so I'm thinking Standard size might get top score. I've never been a believer in Huge maps for high scores.

You are correct about sushi on B&S. I got sushi up and running in the BC years.

Great game, Wastin! Score is critical to time in this period so it's very right decision. But Sushi in BC is very fast. I've never tried it but I usually got Mining Inc in early AD, not BC...

(not to in any way diminish Wastins massive achievement- huge congrats mate)

Bio is much quicker to get to due to it being on the bulb path.
If you go via chemsitry then it's a GSci path of sci meth->(phys)-> bio (with bulbing it's often just as quick to go via physics as it is to skip it and tech bio manually) or just bulb sci meth and grab bio with lib.

Mining inc you're well aware requires Steel->Steam->RR which can't be bulbed effectively.

Thanks PaulisKhan, glad to see you are still around. The quest for high score has made me realize that I actually enjoy managing a large empire. I've become comfortable with the early rush which has to be carefully converted to a stable economy for early sushi (or mining.) Traditionally, I would go for the short-cut, like OCC or Perm.Alliance games. Now, I think I could make a good run at the space race games and I recall you pushing for some friendly competition there. I'll probably wait for BUFFY.002 before I try. I have questions for you, but this isn't the thread for that.

(p.s. don't forget sushi needs medicine too.)
(p.s.s. I only lightbulbed one GS on education. I don't see how to get enough people for bulbing. By turn 300 or so, you're out of time to get useful bulbs.)

I completely forgot medicine, that makes your achievement even more impressive =)

I have given up on HoF at the moment, the combination of Vista and Buffy wrecked my head and put me off so I am waiting until I get windows 7 before I try again.
1) Having to run the program as administrator by right clicking the icon and selecting... gah
2) Not being able to make the shortcut directly to Buffy work
3) Most importantly, not being able to reload the starting save without the game crashing so I can regen map (I really hate having to re-enter all of the game settings at the custom game menu each time)
It's enough of a hassle that I only make the extra effort for SGOTM at the moment.

Which do you find more important? The early rush or the late game management. I imagine for score the late game management is just as important as the early game rush.
For space I think late game management can only gain you a few turns. For me it all comes down to maintaing the tech rate from turns 100-200 at the time when your conquest economy really wants to bankrupt you. If you crash it can easily cost you 50 turns to recover.

ps. I really hate vista >.<

Sorry to hear that. (I have Vista 64-bit myself.)
1. You can change it permanently by selecting the option on the Compatability tab of the Icon's properties (right-click). I select compatabilty with XP while I am at it.
2. adding a space and /mod= BUFFY-3.19.001 It works for me.
3. If you exit to the menu, you can load from there. It is an extra click but it is better than going through custom game again.

The regenerate map option isn't available to me when I try that method =/

I'll give the other suggestions a go =)

I was just about to say the exact same 3 things Denniz just told you. I don't have a problem with regenerate map and I run Vista/buffy. I'm not sure I understand this problem you described.

I agree that stablizing during turns 100-200 is most important. Late game is pretty easy. Just making settlers/sushi as fast as possible. Too bad I didn't try this before they put the 5 exec limit on corps.

It should as long as you reload the 4000bc save and there wasn't any contact between Civs. Contact on small maps or maps with maximum civs can be a problem.

Incidentally, why don't you just use MapFinder?

For the same reason I struggle with patches and mods and new OS's.
It's also the reason I try not to bug people with all of my problems >.<

I'm thick.

The reason you both suggest it is because it's the logical thing to try, which is why I was so glum when it didn't work for me. I was playing large/huge maps at the time (because I finally had a good computer) and that doubly compounded the issue of having to reselect every civ every time I couldn't regen the map.
Frustration won out.

I'll try again when I get back home in a couple of weeks and I'll take some screenshots to show what I mean.

Wow...3 million points!!!

Nice job Wasting Time.

Oh, no! Wastin's been won by the dark side.

Great achievement, congratulations!
:goodjob:

Said it in another post, thought I'd say it again here to be sure...
