I wonder if Firaxis is working on a brand-new Civ 5 for us all to enjoy?

I know most of their official comments seem to have them pointing in the direction of social-networking Civ versions for the future.

I hope that is not entirely the case, and I hope that we will see a very cool Civ 5 for PC.

And I hope the SDK is written in Visual Studio 2010 ferchrissakes!
 
Uh I’m so sick of Civ 4. I’ve beaten it with every leader on diety like 8 times.

No but seriously civ 4 is so frickin amazing I’ve been playing this game like non-stop for 2 years and I’m still into it.

Yeah but they are still selling the Heck of of IV, I still see Civ III on the shelf at Best Buy. They won't come out with FIVE until the sales of Civ IV peters out. AND HOW MUCH YOU WANNA BET WHEN CIV V DOES COME OUT, IT COMES OUT 2 MONTHS BEFORE CHRISTMAS.. WHETHER THE PROGRAMMERS FEEL IT"S READY OR NOT, HAHAHAH, I think every new version has come out right before Christmas.

I don't usually judge programs by the IDE used to make them. I just wish the hypothetical Civ V would use OpenGL instead of DirectX, as a blessing for everyone who uses Linux. The only thing better than that would be that Civ V would be developed into a mature state by Firaxis who would then release it's source code! Ah, that would pack a metric ton of pure win!
 
Whenever they start working on it, I hope they re-introduce Zone of Control, at least for units stationed in a fort (or on hills for that matter).

As long as they use the Civ 3 method of Zone Control and not the earlier one.

I have zone of control for Forts in my mod. I am still debugging and have so little time these days. I will post it soon hopefully!
 
Civilization 5 is being revealed today in two magazine exclusives. One of which is a Danish (Scandinavian) magazine who, because of timezone differences, has the global exclusive. I've just read the preview.

I can't nor won't do any magazine scans as it is illegal, and, for some reason, I cannot create a new topic to paraphrase some of the main points, so you will have to do without until someone else assume the task. But expect the internet to blow up in the course of today. I wouldn't be surprised if Firaxis themselves and other reporters who've signed NDAs contributed with information.

gameplay (FKA >pcplayer). Their (forum) site is derelict; their Facebook group and Twitter account are the only online presences get attention and updates (but, alas, usually in Danish).

They also have some wonky new site that I can't wrap my head around.

I did a google search and got nothing on Civ5...
I think something is rotten in Denmark :lol:
 
Sure the magazine doesn't deal with Civilization Network and not Civ 5?
It seems weird this way would be the first thing we'd hear about it.

It's not Civilization Network.

What's so weird about exclusives outside of the US? They also got the Max Payne 2 exclusive back in the days; and more are on their way from what they've told. The other magazine I assume is American that will be released today.

That's how exclusives work, y'know.

We should find an online betting service. I'm in the mood for earning some money from the disbelievers. :)

EDIT: I don't thing that such a service would exist, though; it would probably void the bet if the game had already been announced somewhere. :/
 
this civ5 issue has become very disappointing for us all. and i feel sad that sometimes i even doubt they plan any civ5 at all. especially this facebook thing really annoyed me. i don't want to hear girls having a dialogue like below:

* can you take care of grapes on my farm, tonight i will be out with my boyfriend

* oh, u still there? a new game civilization is there now. i got bored of farms. after farm, i played the cafe thing and now i play civilization. who knowes 1 month later what we will play? it goes so fast. a new game is there in facebook every month.

* oh really. there are so many farm/cafe games. i cannot find the time to play them all. is this one of them?

* yes it is sth like that. if u like that farm game, u could like this one. well, there are some issues that i don't understand like FOOD, HAMMER, COMMERCE, but still i play it. oh, who cares. it is just a facebook game. Can you take care of my empire tomorrow night? I will be out with my boyfriend.

I am shocked since this is rather accurate. Civilization is supposed to be a gentleman game, like polo. Fecesbook won't let it shine!
