Update Eleven
Aiweh explorers discover a new habitable system to the Galactic West of their home world, while scientists continue to enjoy the focused resources of Aiweh civilization. Though no truly groundbreaking advancements are made, improvements are made on previous research, enabling workers to achieve higher efficiency levels through greater workload endurance. A new colony is founded on a recently discovered, lush world teeming with life and untouched resources.
The Amoebas continue their endless work in repairing the damage done by the recently deceased entity known as "One", and though great strides are being made, it is understood by the many colonial entities on the Amoeba home world that it will be many years until their work is complete.
The redirection of industry from civilian products into greater military output has an impact on the Bako Tellian population, and though morale dips as a result of this and the recent loss of the Tounis colony, the populace seems begrudgingly ready for war. Though no counter-offensive action has been taken yet, the Tellian military prepares for the imminent conflict with haste and determination.
A new colony is founded by the Capricocials, while an existing colony is expanded. Ill-defined political turmoils spread across the home world, causing unrest amongst the populace, despite the fact that most of them don't seem to actually know what's going on. Exploratory efforts lift the veil on the mysteries of alien life, presenting the Capricocials with not one, but two alien species. To the Galactic South of the home world, a planet is discovered bearing primitive aliens, at first believed to be unintelligent, though upon closer study, the technology-less beings did indeed seem to be capable of advanced modes of thought. Generic tool use was observed, though nothing permanent seemed to exist in their society, including any form of complex social groupings; these aliens appeared to be fairly isolationist, keeping to their own lonesome wanderings, hunting prey and chasing off competitors of their own species. Even mating appears to be a fairly hostile endeavor, as one member of the species would chase down, wrestle, and seemingly rape another in order to achieve impregnation. No direct contact has been made yet by the exploration teams, as the point of doing so is lost on them. Elsewhere, to the Galactic North of the home world, a meeting of exploration fleets has occured at system (D/E-B) between the Capricocials and the Myzokans. No moves have been made yet, each side cautious about the other.
The Distopteran Hive Ship ventures forth, attempting to find its way to the Hlethan home world of Thaej. Embarking on yet another lengthy journey, the hive nestles into sleep and awaits its arrival there. Meanwhile, the Nekopterans begin to try consolidating power and authority between the mini-hives, trying to work out some form of unifying society to encompass the whole colony. Being new to this whole thing, it naturally takes quite a bit of effort and barely meets with any initial success, but the ball is now rolling. Also, new ways to use machinery are accidently discovered, enabling greater mining and processing efficiency.
New Geskani fleets roll out of the shipyards, including one that was rushed through the testing phase to be operable in time to join the blockade breaking efforts in the colonies. Two armadas of two fleets each venture forth, surprising the Satellian blockaders despite their preparedness for this event. Not wishing to fight, the Satellians pull back to Sneed, leaving the Geskani Loyalists still champing at the bit for a fight they won't get to have. Meanwhile, new efforts have been made to replace a lot of the civilian workforce with robotic workers, removing the wavering loyalty of the populace as a hinderance. Some weeks after the departure of the Loyalist armadas, the Rebel Fleets arrive under new command, freshly repaired by teams of engineers and scientists having worked under considerable pressure and time constraints to get the work done. The tension in the proximity of Ges thickens...
Hlethan traders set out for Sneed, following the reports issued by Wahano Mo of the
Rhetho, taking advantage of the Snuds' willingness to exchange goods with anyone they ever meet. The
Rhetho itself ventures to the Geskani home system, deterred by the Satellian blockade efforts in the colonies. Seeking contact yet again, the Hlethan explorers now encounter an entire star system geared up for war, riddled with unrest, and a few days after their arrival in the outer system, the confrontation of Loyalist and Rebel fleets. How the
Rhetho will be involved in all this is yet to be determined. Elsewhere, the
Tharaez reaches the Distopteran home world, finding a planet largely stripped of resources and devoid of all but fairly basic forms of life in the aftermath of the Distopteran exodus. Huge caverns riddle the planet, carved with efficiency and calculated order, though severely weakening the stability of a lot of the upper planetary crust. Many places have collapsed violently, likely due to lack of maintenance, causing considerable ecological and geological damage to the planet. Finally, the military fleet centered around the warship
Hrkan arrives in the Orindi home system, attempting to conduct diplomacy yet again, though this time vastly more prepared for any type of hostile action. The natives in their city-ships seem alarmed, as many smaller vessels are sent out to meet the Hletho, keeping their distance but also attempting to prevent the alien ships from traveling further into the heart of the system. In additional Hlethan news, a number of new colonial projects are begun, including the expansion of the Haefar colony, and the establishment of a research base on a world called Hulan, which also bears a similar establishment made by the Satellians. The influx of alien goods has brought a number of odd curiosities and comforts to the Hlethan people.
Iokolu colonists arrive at the lush world in (F/D-R), expanding the colony there, enjoying the stark contrast to their home world. Additionally, Iokolu explorers carry on their efforts to understand this oddly barren galaxy.
The Great War of Halvalla takes an unfortunate turn, as the last remnants of the Southern Barbarians launch what nuclear weapons they have in their possession in an attempt to obliterate the vast armies of the Confederacy and deal a "mercy blow" to their own cities living in occupied territory. Though the attack is devastating, it is not enough to stop the Confederate troops from securing a victory in the southern hemisphere. Now, with only the Northern Barbarians left to deal with, the Confederacy prepares to draw this war to a close. The Ivking people grew tense and anxious, unsure of what they will do once it is all over.
The Kant, aware that they are losing the war, abandon the colony of Parun and their home world, Sanctum, leaving behind volunteers to appear as though the planets remain inhabited to fool any Phleghesh attacks. Unfortunately, the colony of Ren is unable to do likewise, as the Phleghesh arrive before they managed to leave, and the entire population was eradicated. Shortly following this, Sanctum was attacked, the false population wiped out, while the bulk of the Kant escape toward the colony of Okum. Meanwhile, seeking allies and assylum, the Red Fleet discovers a world inhabited by strange, brutal primitives that seem to want nothing but to war with each other with strange, over-the-top explosive weapons. A new fleet is built at Okum in the hopes of protecting the colony, should their exodus be compromised.
Kekeji explorers study parts of the galactic rim, but otherwise the Kekeji civilization remains quiet and contemplative, still trying to come to terms with the unnatural behavior of their previously lost exploration fleet and the encounters with the alien vessel.
New industry arrives at the Lelinthian mining outposts in system J/D-R, while the fleet warden Lotholitel carries on her exploratory duties, discovering a Hlethan colony, which she takes little interest in. Kululuthul continues his efforts in directing the occupation of the primitive Vurdu people. Kelethletel remains in the Snuddian home system, keeping to herself, not yet willing to risk contact with the natives, despite their curiosity and interest. Mostly, she seems interested in the massive amounts of Satellian activity going on in the system, as well as the interesting new Satellian weapons systems. Back on Lolan, a new sickness begins to spread among the Culud, likely the results of strange mutations of old diseases after having been exposed to alien life forms and environments. Though no significant damage has been done yet, the Culud begin to worry, and their Lelinthian masters puzzles over the problem.
The Myzokans establish their first extrasolar colony, and coupled with a new wave of technological breakthroughs, morale skyrockets. Additionally, in continuing to explore the local regions of the galaxy, they encounter an alien vessel in system (D/E-B). What will come of this encounter, especially the repurcussions of making contact so soon after their first galactic jaunts, is as yet unknown.
The Nhroaat SsKraed rush their shipyards in orbit of the colony "Krensht" in order to attempt to deal with the mysterious, malign entity in orbit of their world. Throwing an armada of four fresh fleets at the object, the battle rages of hours and hours and hours. While there is no obvious weapons fire coming from the alien entity, the Nhroaat vessels periodically, and quite suddenly, cease functioning. With both their crews and their reactors suddenly dying as the crystaline object ominously glows despite the horrible weapons fire raining in on it, the Nhroaat begin to fear for the worst. Several times, the object flickers for reasons unknown, but this does not seem to have any detrimental affect on it. Inevitably, all four fleets find themselves hurtling out of control into the planet's atmosphere or into the outer system, devoid of life and power. The colony, once again, suffers a sudden and horrific loss of life.
Orindi engineers develop numerous new pieces of mining, processing and manufacturing machines, enabling mining operations and payload lifting efforts across the outer system to reach new levels of efficiency previously only ever dreamed of. Unfortunately, as the bizarre aliens return with many more ships than before, the cityship-dwellers grow uneasy, fearing that their efforts to protect the primitive world-dwellers might have lead to an attack. Though little comes of the initial encounter, things might drastically change once diplomacy is actually attempted again between the two species.
Phleghesh repair crews fix up the
Nhuuff fleet, incorporating the latest advancements from technical research, also making these refits in the other existing fleets. A large expedition is launched to attack the Kant on multiple fronts, feeling emboldened by the lack of further Kant attacks on the home world. The Kant colony of Ren is wiped out, as well as the home world of Sanctum, though the attacking fleets there report that resistance was minimal and targets were fewer than anticipated, leading many to believe that much of the populace might have escaped beforehand. A separate fleet is sent to the colony of Hutthh to remove the threat of the Raer fleet in orbit. Immediately engaging the surprised aliens, the Phleghesh fighter swarms envelope the alien fleet, cutting off escape paths, though otherwise the Phleghesh don't fare so well this time around. Despite their new technical improvements, many of the hastily implemented pieces of equipment fail to perform as expected (a problem noted around the home world and colonies, as well, leading to some moderate industrial problems). The Raer barely manage to defeat the Phleghesh, though defeat them they did. Much of the population on the colony retreats to underground caverns and bunkers, fearing reprisal.
The nations of the Pohm continue to compete with each other in space exploration and colonization, with the Betik landing their old exploration fleet to found the colony of Kukukik in system (G/G-R), while the colony of Denim receives resource support from the home world (though no true upgrade to the colony's facilities are made, the resources certainly make life a little easier for the settlers). A new fleet is built by the Thun nation, while the disorganized multinational efforts dissolve in the face of Kekim domination of exploration in that region of the galaxy. Political tensions grow on the home world, as the various nations compete for resources at home and abroad.
Raer colonists rush in brand new colony ships, darting off to system (F/I-B) to settle the planet with the strange alien ruins. The Yalir colony (E/I-B) is expanded, as well. At the alien colony in system (D/I-B), the aliens bring in a large vessel carrying hundreds of smaller ships, attempting to attack and remove the Raer fleet from the system. Fighting for their lives, the Raer valiently fend off the attack, though only barely making it through the fight. The aliens appear moderately more advanced than the Raer, and obviously quite aggressive. The inhabitants of the colony seem to have ceased all activity on the surface during the battle, taking shelter underground.
Satellian blockade forces break in the face of Geskani counter-attack, only taking minimal damage before escaping to Sneed, where they join the High Energy Weapon and Mass Missile System fleetsin orbit of the Snuddian home world, prepared against possible further attacks by the Geskani. On the surface of Sneed, the Surface Battle Kinship is dissolved, many of them choosing to remain among the Snud for the time being, selling off their old equipment to establish themselves in the Snuddian financial system; many find jobs in construction and deep-space engineering fields, as well as some security jobs. Three new fleets are assembled in the shipyards of Mar Aih, including a new combat fleet, a new exploration fleet, and a massive diplomatic ship with accompanying support ships and transports. The colony world of Mmaru-Mu (I/B-O) is expanded with new resources, settlers and equipment. Exploration Fleet #1 reaches the Ivking home system just days before the nuclear attacks on the Confederate front lines by the desperate Southern Barbarians, putting on a brilliant spectacle for the bewildered Satellian explorers. Whether this will give them pause in making contact or not is yet undetermined.
Seipas Yag colonies are expanded, while the exploration fleet returns to the home world for some much-needed repairs and refits due to years of extended wear and usage. Population tensions on the home world have finally eased, increasing stability and workforce efficiency.
The Skul'agran military, concerned with the occupation on Nu'halas (Tounis), refrains from further attacks against the Bako Tellians in order to shore up their ground and space forces, as well as funneling resources into pacifying the unrest on the occupied colony.
Snuddian traders follow Hlethan transports back to their port of origin, establishing a solid route between the two races, forming up what is very close to being a triangle of trade between the Snud, the Hletho and the Satellians. Snuddian researchers funnel resources into the robotics systems research, and though no new breakthroughs have been made, the progress is notable as the first proxies step into regular service in the home system.
The Ulmans Kungs land their first colony, while their explorers press on to system (B/I-B), discovering the ruins of an alien colony, apparently destroyed from orbit by another alien race, causing concern to grow ever more deeply for the state of affairs in the unknown galaxy.
The Undroth do very little, content with their colonial expansion for now. They turn their attentions to technology, improving general systems quite substantially. Otherwise, all is quiet in the Undroth realm.
