Any ideas are welcome.

Map is in production, please wait... (10% Complete estimated 4 days until completion)

I would drop Croatia as they were part/vassals of Hungary from 1080 to 1920
Also, with Austria, Hungary, Serbia, Venice and Croatia that part of the map would be -very- crowded.
And don't forget to add Greece

Anyway, I would still drop Germany and HRE, and add Saxony and Bavaria instead
Having Prussia and Germany at the same time is very inaccurate.
If there is no chance to drop HRE, than just drop Germany.
Having Austria, Prussia, Bohemia, HRE, Switzerland doesn't seem a too bad solution either

Kievian Rus would be another good idea to fill up some of the great eastern parts of the map.
One more thing: France have way too much territory to expand to compared to the others around, I would definitely add Burgundy

For me, this would be a more or less whole and balanced map

Alright, I even made a quick map what would be the perpect solution in my eyes
Of course the borders and everything are just for representation, but this way all the countries have similar chances, it seems balanced for me. No huge territory for France or overcrowded Croatian region anymore.
Naturally you have to make some parts Africa and north/eastern Europe inhabitable, not to give too much room to expand for those civs (Moscow, Kiev, Al-Andalus)
Maybe even add another islamic north african civ too if you want to, Moors or Berbers sound good to me

Okay. I'd like to keep Croatia for the moment, perhaps they can be dropped for various scenarios. Like the Bulgarians, they can be added by the player as a vassal of Hungary of the Ottomans. I'll get rid of Germany, keep HRE, and add Saxony, Bavaria, Lombardy, Burgundy, Kievien Rus (that empty space has always annoyed me, it will be nice to have something to fill it), Genoa, and Portugal. I noticed you have "Al-Andalus" on the map. This could also be added, although I'll look up on it as I've never heard of it before. Finland will not be added as it was never a "European Empire." While I'd love to include every country that ever existed in Europe, we have to keep in mind the mod's namesake and what that includes and excludes. Although most civ's are kingdoms, they are significant enough to be considered an empire. Croatia was added to keep Venice, Hungary, Austria (previously bohemia), and now Switzerland out of that are. The edition of Serbia helped, all though in my scenarios so far, they tend to populate Greece instead of settling north.

Progress on the map is steady, should be done at least this Saturday. (although with adding those civ's it will take more time)

Don't add both Genoa and Lombardy, it would be crowded
Also, if you add Greece Serbia will have to expand to north-northwest, so no need for Croatia IMO

Ok, here is the last version posted in the old thread, with the new civs (Saxony etc), as well as a Western Europe map to showcase them.

I personally think Lombardy or Milan makes more sense as civs than Genoa since they were land bound, military powers whereas Genoa was a maritime trading power (that was dominated by Milan for much of its history). Civilization IV is much better at modelling military type power than trade power.

I will also defend the inclusion of the Golden Horde. It was a tremendous factor in shaping the history of Europe, occupying or getting tribute from all of Russia until the late 15th century. Its last sucessor state (the Khanate of Crimea) lasted until the late 18th century.

I noticed some bugs:
-Civics seem to be messed up.
-There are no icons for the colonial projects
-The mod is still using the vanilla icon set, this means no espionage icon and :commerce: for tax etc.

Another thing. The Wonders are renamed to be European, but what about the new Wonders in BtS?

Great Wall
Temple of Artemis
University of Sankore
Cristo Redentor
Mausoleum of Maussollos
Shwedagon Paya
Statue of Zeus

Okay, while I understand that the Golden Horde was important to European history, it was not an empire or kingdom, which is what this mod is about. Were I making a Europe-Through-the-Ages type mod, then I would include it. This is European Empires, which is why I don't include Greece, Finland, Ireland, etc. (I'm still iffy about Algeria)

Novgorod would be useful, and it would make even more sense because of Kievian Rus'... I'll look into that and possibly add it (31 civs can't hurt :crazyeye: )

Anyway, your post came a bit too late, as I have added Saxony, Bavaria, Burgundy, and Kievian Rus' to the mod. I have also fixed all of the flags (I love Burgundy's) and added custom music to the menu. I was also messing around with the background, but I couldn't get that to work, so it's now grey...

I really need someone to do the map, my MapView doesn't work (never has) it needs to have 30 (if I counted correctly; best to make it 32 just in case) starting places on it. X and Y coordinates are available if anyone takes it upon themselves to do this, using this map

I'm working on combining the two versions (1.0 and the one I currently have) together, as soon as that's done I'll upload it. :) Thanks for the input everyone.

Checked the map
Looks nice, but I wouldn't leave so much territory on the east. It gives a huge advantage to the nearby civs, Turks, Kievians, and Russians.
I would cut the map just east of Cyprus and the Krimean peninsula

Put barbs in the eastern part of the map. That simulates the golden horde and also keeps those civs from early expansion.

And when can we expect a scenario? :D

Also, you'd be better off eliminating Finland as a civ and adding Novgorod. More historical (but will tick off the Finns... which is bonus in my book :D )

I'm trying to make a map for this and ran into a couple of things. First, you need to include a WorldInfos so that maps can have more than 11 civs. You have the 50 civ dll (is that the only dll change and why no sources?) but you have to change this xml file also. Next, I don't have the fonts for Dusan, so I had to change his description. Finally some of the leaders lack buttons (at least in world builder, where also some of the missionaries have the wrong description).

I attach a first draft map, along with a changed WorldInfos and leaderinfos. Not in patch form. I think I left a civ out, and the start locations are approximations. And I'm using the standard Europe map that came with BtS--I should chop off the Eastern edge.

Thank you Tholish! As far as I can tell, you are not missing any civs. I have only two major quarrels with the map: 1, it has too much north Africa and not enough Scandinavia (north Africa needs to be separate from Asia Minor for colonies) and 2, too much of eastern Europe. It would be nice; but not necessary, to have Iceland included (it does not have to be perfectly aligned with the rest of the continent) Starting locations can be fixed in later versions; there are a few resources and such that need to be fixed, both of which I will be obliged to undertake.

A more updated conception of EE34BTS:

It isn't balanced, but I think that that is the way it should be. Adding Portugal helped a lot to reduce the power Aragon and Castile-Leon always had, and dividing up Russia helps to tremendously reduce their advantage. Now, the three are fairly equal; this should prove to be interesting... Playing this as one of the lesser powers (Switzerland, Saxony, Bavaria, Venice, Croatia etc.) is a good challenge. If time allowed, conquering the entire continent is very challenging and fun.

Why would you have Switzerland, Saxony and Bavaria, or even Lombardy and Austria if you have HRE? Absolutely no place for HRE
Also get rid of Croatia. It's really inaccurate historically to include them as a separate civ. There was no Croatia from 1087 to 1918. And of course this way there is nowhere to expand with Venice. They should have all the Croatian coastline

Btw, what will be the exact time-period of play?
If it starts soon enough, I would add Berbers and Al-Andalus to North-Africa and South-Iberia

The other way can be, if it starts in 1453. No moors in Spain, no Byzantine Empire, etc
