Turn Discussion Thread

By the way, we should decide which Gold is best to improve first. They both give the same yield, of course, but our Worker will end up in a different place to start his chops depending on which one we improve first. ;)
Actually, looking at the map and thinking about it, it might be best to improve the southern Gold first, because then we get the prebuilt road 1W of the capital. Then if we can somehow spare 1 Worker turn after the second Gold is improved to get that road finished, our Settler will get to his spot a turn earlier! (Because he'll be able to move 3 tiles on the first turn due to the road.) :)

I disagree. I think we should be waiting on slavery until HR. This is why we are going worker first.

I strongly doubt that we will be able to make up one turn's worth of anarchy whipping before HR. Someone would need to do calculations to convince me otherwise.

I really don't think ~20 commerce is worth delaying infrastructure in ALL subsequent cities (assuming a revolt at . I don't even think 50 commerce would be worth it. Out of buildings which we'll probably have available before Monarchy we're going to want Granary / Lighthouse / Library in all our cities. The only other option would be to chop them out on the starting island but we aren't given the guarantee of forests in other landmasses.

Plus, with our research rate I would give us strong odds of picking up Judaism on the way to Monarchy. OR + HR could easily be the prized 2 for 1 revolt.

Yet, all this is too far away to be anything more than speculative

I see all these projections, but what happens if we get, say, copper or horses in the BFC of the capital? How much does this improve AH/BW earlier rather than later?

Also, chopping costs worker turns. Slavery doesn't. Crack the whip.

Regardless of whether we have Copper or Horses in the capital, we'll want to be building Warriors and mining Gold in the near future. Besides, Copper will be revealed fairly early, as we'll want to chop even if we don't have any.

But it'll delay our Academy. I'd rather chop and whip as well later.

Sorry, I guess I misunderstood your post. ;)

Either way, whipping AND chopping will probably be preferable outside the capital. No need to whip instead of chop. :)

Turn 9 - 3640 BC

Switched research to The Wheel. Warrior moved 1N, nothing of interest revealed (another regular sea tile).

Since we have no need for The Wheel until the turn we want to prebuild the road, I suggest we get The Wheel to 1 turn from completion, then switch back to Bronze Working, then switch back to The Wheel just before we need the road, then finish off Bronze Working. Slightly convoluted, but since either way we'll want The Wheel before Bronze Working, and we don't need The Wheel until that one specific turn, we may as well throw the other teams for a loop with the demographics while we're at it. :mischief:

So yeah we'll all of the sudden learn two techs very close together. Wonder what they would think if they saw our score jump one turn after the other.

Going a little crazy with the tags there, aren't you LP? ;) Also, is it possible to keep the resource markers on for screenshots? I'm lousy at recognizing resources without them.

That was me, I was a little bored there.

Yeah, it wasn't me. I thought it was a bit crazy too when I logged in. :crazyeye:

I thought the Coal tag was a bit ambitious. Were you going to suggest we beeline Steam Power? :)

(Come to think of it, that does enable our UB :hmm:)

Steam Power enables our UB, yeah. It's resourceless though, we don't need Coal for it. :)

Yeah, I meant that smilie to confer pondering more than questioning. I should have gone with this one:

Although coal-powered dikes would be interesting. :)

Well I thought ambitous would be Uranium, Oil or Aluminum would be really asking for alot. I feel those will be on other islands or the main land.
