Units of The Great Northern War

I started making some simple reskins of units to create a unit setup for the Great Northern War. If noone else makes a Northern War mod, I will do one in the future, but right now I have enough to do. I will collect my units here and these are the first ones. As said, this is nothing much, but just a couple of reskins of the Redcoat really.

Yes, NotSoGood, I will be making more. I need the whole arsenal of the Great Northern War. I will be making Finnish units as well. I think Finnish soldiers were dressed like the Swedish, but in colours blue and gray, so those are not so hard. I need Russians and Danes too. And Saxons probably.

Yup, GeModder. That bloke stands at the Swedish Army Museum. I photographed him last year. The picture on the infantry unit is a major masterpiece that hangs at the Nationalmuseum in Stockholm too, and I've photoed that one too.

I'm afraid time was too short to see the National Museum that day. The Vaasa took preference.

Nice. I've always liked Swedish military uniforms.

I woúld love to play a mod like that. Don´t do the map to big. I would get bored if there a re to many russian cities to counquer. A war that may be even more intriguing to make is the 30 years war. If you haven´t read them yet i strongly recomend you to read Peter Englunds books Poltava, The 30 year war and The Invincible. Greatest books decribing that time in Europe i am sure.

Hey there! I am a fan of Peter Englund. I've read them all; especially his book Poltava will probably be imperative as a source in the design of a mod about the Great Northern War.

My area of expertise is really the Swedish-Russian War of 1808-09, but making a mod of the situation during that time would probably be much harder since it covers a rather restricted geographical area. The Great Northern war spanned most of Eastern Europe, and any mod could include all of those parts all the way to the Ottoman Empire, in fact.

There's a bloke currently working on a mod that starts at 1618. Initially he was going to set his mod to begin in the year 1700, but may expand it to range from the Thirty Years' War and on to the 19th century. Here's the link to his thread about it if you want to know more. it was actually his idea that made me do these units too.

Shame that they aren't really taken seriously after the Finnish War.
