Where is Spanish Empire?

I am stupefaid. Spanish Empire is not going to be included in the game? I am astonished. Does somebody know who was Philip II of Spain?

I trust in that they'll correct this giant mistake before it is too late.
 
At least until the first expansion or DLC. There are only 18 slots in the original game. Choices had to be made.

So sorry, H2SO4, but congrats with your first page.

IIRC, he was the guy who sent that bloke Duke of Alva over to prosecute, convict, and burn Protestants in the Provinces. :mischief:

And be so kind to spare us yet another "my civ is not in buhahu" thread.
You seem to be doing plenty of that already...
 
There is, but some people obviously find their needs greater then using common sense.

Your opinion is that you are insulted by the exclusion of the Spanish Empire from one of the playable civilizations, especially after their inclusion in previous Civ incarnations. I respect it, even if I think it's misplaced.

My opinion is that you respect the guidelines published on the first page of this forum regarding this topic. We are all guests here, and as guests we should defer to the guidelines. This is especially true for newer guests, like myself, and brand new guests, like yourself.

The kind of behaviour you show is like a graffiti guy painting his message all over town.

Do you really find it necessary to register in multiple forums just to spread the same opinion? Do you really find that respectful? Frankly put, you're acting like a kid making noise just for the sake of it.

I think that nobody should feel atacked by my comments. My opinion is that somebody must reflect the feelings of lot's of Spanish Civ lovers, when they buy Civ V and discover that Spain is (unjustifiably) not included in the game.

That sticky you are referring to Nic discourages trolling in posted topics about missing civs. Which is what it appears you are doing. Its the responses that cause the problem not the topic of missing civs itself. You sir should actually read the guidlines you quote and maybe follow them.

and I would join with the OP here in being disgusted that I would have to pay an extra $5.99 or whatever the DLC fee with be to play as Spain. One has to wonder how the actual country feels about 2k profiting from and excluding their civilization. Its one thing to sell a civ that is part of history..but the nation of Spain still reigns!

Moderator Action: Calling someone a troll, is trolling on these forums, don't do it.

That is exactly what I pretend (not with a graffiti). I want to express an opinion that is shared by thousands of players in Spain, and I want that as many people as posible find out about it.

Everett, this is from the Sticky:

To begin a topic, his very first post, by saying the exclusion is "ridiculous" is not helpful. Hence, my response.
 
I could include hundreds of arguments to hold the calificative "ridiculous" but I think that everybody here can go to wikipedia, or to google books and learn something about Spanish Empire, and discover that arguments by his own means.

You're missing the point. No one is arguing that Spain wasn't important historically. The point is that not every important empire/civilization is in Civ 5. There are many criteria beyond "accomplishments" or "influence", one of which is geographical representation (That is, they didn't want the game to be a list of European states).

Simply put: Spain isn't in. This was a design decision. Not a personal insult of you or your country. Whining in such a way won't do anything.

Civilization is not a ranking of the 18 most important civilizations. It is not a ranking of which 18 civilizations are most awesome. It is nothing personal towards any civilization included or excluded.

To come and declare that Spain must be included in any game called Civilization because of its proud history... well, I don't understand it. Believe me, I'd just assume exclude The United States from Civilization. And I'm an American :).

I appreciate that you'd like to be able to play as Spain in this game. But I hope you appreciate my response: That posts declaring the exclusion of another Civilization, no matter how wonderful it's culture or how powerful its nationalistic heritage, are not necessary on this forum.
