SGOTM 12 - Plastic Ducks

According to test game...

t63 Peace with Gandhi (AH+Writing+Sailing)
t64 Meditation <-> Pottery is available

Otherwise I don't see anything out of place.

@Duckweed

Considering you've already posted the plan, if there are no edits within the first 24 hours [9 more hours now], consider yourself given green light to play when you can. That's what we had agreed upon so let's stick to that.

Guys:

Good job so far!

I'm still in business trip and will be back tomorrow. Duck's plan is good for me (we don't need strategic switch so far) so please go ahead if you will.

I think afterwards we need some serious discussions about wonder-spamming, GP spamming and expansion.

With this landmass I'm quite sure we can be a powerful peacemonger (though conquering DR would be good in the future as well), but my first impression is that finding the optimum way of development is hell with it :)

Agreed, the situation becomes increasingly complex after the Oracle is done.

Good to see you around :)

Agreed.

3/4 workers for each settler... Instead of the regular 2 workers to set up a new city. The key is to send 2 workers ahead early enough to settle and get food.

But yea, it's hell!

As you wished, Oracle gamble succeeded!:D

T63 -- Peace with Gandhi, Sailing did not work as he was researching it.
Spoiler :

T78 -- A chinese archer was approaching, warrior had to retreat.
Spoiler :

T83 -- Oracle in. French founded 3rd city on the plain hill, we could not stop it since the chariot is still on the way. Also found English border, I turned warrior away since I was afraid it's so vulnerable to any AI unit.

Excellent work Duckweed!
:band:

TGW still isn't gone... wow. GLH is probably in the bag then. Makes a strong case for wonder spamming as suggested. Unfortunately the Stone is kinda far away for Pyramids but it's a definite possibility for HG (Sid knows we need the health).

Mao knows DG... we've seen Mao, we've seen Churchill, Mao knows Roos, Roos knows Gandhi... we can meet everyone before Astronomy but Stalin I guess (unless maybe island connections are possible to him).

I'll look into updating test game.

Who wants the next set? Who can?

There's going to be a lot of testing required and a lot of decisions to be made before.

For one, we need a way to make Peace with the AIs when they start sending in units... which means Alphabet.

EDIT: unless someone other than the regulars shows up, I guess I can pick it up.

Right, We have very good chance of getting GLH.:D

It looks like X Team settled for coastal capital.

Very nice set, Duckweed :)
Do we know where the Chinese archer has gone ?

Next techs :
Health is more of an issue than happiness, but we can see we will have access to gold + silver + gems eventually.
--> Metal Casting could yield +3 happy per forge.

Metal Casting also means The Colossus. 2F3C coastal tiles aren't bad at all and, if we focus on the whip and specials for now, it could hasten our settling rate (settlers > workers ... in a certain measure ; in the short term, we would need less workers than without the Colossus ...). But MC can wait a little, I guess.

I find Currency is the most appealing to research next. It will mean instant commerce boost + gold from the trade with the AIs.

Next set :
I would favour a very small set where we trade for Bronze working and maybe Iron working (+ change civics).
Knowing where the resources are can affect our plans.

@ Peace : Is there any reason not to buy peace with everybody but De Gaulle/Stalin ?
