Getting ? Question Mark for new civilization icon

I noticed that it will display properly ONLY after you have already played the scenario and exit back to the menu, but if you restart the entire CIV 5 game then it will go back to showing the ? Random.

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one having this problem.

Has anyone successfully created a scenario with a custom made civilization (not just map) and not have this problem?

Perhaps it's a global bug?

I'm gonna test it out and make a test scenario using the canada mod and see if it does the same thing.

Same exact problem. I even put a couple standard leaders up there, they show up fine. Canada shows up random. I suspect it is a global bug.

I have this as well with every "new" civilization that I make.

I wonder if it is something to do with artwork... like a "button" from civ IV.

See of Kael's Celtica has this problem...

If not, and I think not, then there is a solution. It is just a matter of finding it. Like I said though, I think it is artwork.

Also, in-game, when you click on the diplomacy menu, do you see a flag next to your Civ? Or just an empty space?

In my case I'm not using any custom made art. I did pretty much exactly what Kael used for his Celtic civ, but I called mine Macedonia.

my point being that perhaps custom art or a second set of art definitions is required (even if art files are identical, but simply named differently).

I would ask Kael or something... send a PM

Possibly yeah. Keep in mind that it works fine for normal map games, but just not for scenarios. It also works fine if you exit the scenario back to the menu and restart the scenario.

I just tested it with Kael's celtic Civilization and its the exact same thing. 4 different civilizations having the exact same problems, and one of them Kael created (I was already quite certain anyways, hence why I already reported it). I think we can confirm this as 100% bug, and firaxis needs to fix it asap.

they've already moved it to the confirmed bugs sub-forum, so maybe the wheels will get rolling ;)

was there a patch or something? its worked perfectly like 10 times in a row now for me, maybe its because i haven't reloaded civ in a while, just going back to main menu, re-enabling mod after each rebuild.... i'm confused now

It will work fine if you restart the scenario after playing it once, but on the first time it wont work. There seems to be some kind of cache or something, maybe something with the database. I don't know.

What Kruelgor said.

It's immediately after you load the scenario. All of the new civs are question marks.

A recent post in my Sengoku thread makes me wonder if this bug was fixed.

Does anyone know? My mod/scenario still has the "???"'s, but how about for other people?

thanks,
