Welcome back folks, or maybe I should be welcomed back. After disappointment with Civ 5 I have returned to Civ IV with more RPC tales. Perhaps I will venture back into Civ 5 onced it's aptched and fixed up, but for now there are more tales to tell and leaders to embararess.

While I have done 4 RPCs based on RPCs (the Great Presidents of Washington, Lincoln, FDR and *cough cough* Obama  ) I am American dammit and glad to abuse yet another. Besides, I need to play this to get the nasty taste of that dull Civ 5 American RPC out of my system.

So I bring you Thomas Jefferson. Author of the Declaration of Independence, third US President, responsible for excessive American growth, depressant, agnostic, slave owner, and dare I say, economically incompetant.

Now TJ here wants what is best for his country and believes all men are free and equal (don't know what he thinks of women though, but that's another tale) regardless of his own personal practices. Yes, TJ was a hypocrit. In addition, America stands for MANIFEST DESTINY, stretching our reach from shore to shore of this fine continent and while some heathens may stand in our way, we shall bring them American civilization but overrunning their lands and granting them full citizanship!

So game settings

Emperor difficulty at EPIC speed

Unrestricted leaders

Jefferson is obviously American but will play the traits of Louis XIV since he loved French Culture. It also fits with his Creative personality and writtings and the American Industrious spirit.

NOW, onto the RULES!!!

1) MAnifest Destiny: Jefferson must control his entire continent, not vassals allowed here.

2) Overseas he cannot take any foreign city but can certainly dabble in foreign affairs (he was NO Washington mind you!). Declaring war to preserve America's best interests are allowable.

3) America is built on Agriculture and production, thus cottages are disallowed. Farms, mines, watermills, windmills, lumbermills, and workshops are all that are allowed.

4) Jefferson believes in Seperation of church and state, thus we cannot adopt a state religion and must stay in Paganism or Free Religion. Priest specialists are allowed though, we are not forbidding religion to our people.

5) Jefferson is a hypocrit, believeing in all men are equal yet practiced slavery. Thus Jefferson MUST stay in the slavery Civic all game. The exception is if he can get the UN to adopt emancipation (he can propse it) thus taking teh responsibility off of him.

6) Jefferson is a believer in all forms of liberty, thus me MUST beeline the Liberalism path and THEN beeline Democracy. In addition, State Property is a forbidden civic.

There you have it,

Our fearless leader

Glad to see you again, mad! :) God that start is awful... looks like every tile in the BFC is forested except 1NW and maybe 2S1W => could be food, let's hope for more than "American bison" i.e. cows

I'd SIP. You should have food in the fog, and there's a good chance of a strategic resource on that plains tile. I'd move the warrior S before settling, of course.

Yay, RPC the reboot :woohoo:

When should the liberalism beeline start? If it's turn 1 that rules out BW and slavery :mischief:

Fog has food and it's on green so it's bound to be good. Definitely settle in place.

Heh, denying yourself of Caste System and cottages makes for an interesting variant. I see quite a bit of producing wealth/research down the line.

I say once I have the worker techs up to IW. I think alphabet/Currency/Code of Laws are OK, then Civil Service etc... Prioritizing American Law and the Dollar are certainly within the RPC flavor.

Can you keep cottages others built, or do you have to replace them?

EDIT: It's going to be much harder to run an empire-wide SE without being able to use Caste System...

Looks like Conquest/Dom is out here. Culture would be an interesting trick with this one.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it more difficult to get an AI to cap when you don't share a land border? I recall someone complaining about that aspect of Vassal mechanics, anyway.

I can also get tha Ai to capitulate using nukes. Just saying, we are American afterall.

no reason not to SIP, and you're warrior can't get anywhere which can tell you not to ... the food is proberly either 2e, 2e1s or 2s1w ...

at least he's CRE, and IND should give some nice GPP.

i'd SIP, looks fine. there'll be some food after all, and the plains NW could have horses..

ill e shadowing dis epic game :P

Long time fan here... damn... how long has you been doing this?
