Japan + Populism = win

With Japan's Bushido Code UA and the +25% combat bonus from Populism (under Autocracy), Japanese units are actually more powerful wounded than at full health. This combination allowed me to pull off ridiculous conquests against the AIs (which have no idea how to fight even after the patch) with only 6 Infantry, 2 Artillery, and 2 Lancers. Because of these combined powers, I would only stop and heal to 6-7 HP instead of 9-10 like I would with other civs, allowing much faster conquests.

My favorite was completely destroying a full health Artillery stationed in a forest hex in one turn with a 2/10 HP Infantry unit.

That's some amusing stacking. I guess they need to be punched in the mouth to get all riled up to fight.

I can maybe see this being a reasonable thing to do if you're Iron/rifle rushing with Japan, taking Autocracy after the Rationalism slingshot. Not terribly necessary right now, but if the combat AI improves the benefits aren't bad.

Japan with early gg wins already. No need to wait that long.

I actually only did this because I started a game as Japan in the Industrial Era. I normally never get to use Autocracy in a standard Ancient era start game because I usually pick Liberty so I can rush Settlers for ICS

China's better tho. Japan's bushido is actually pretty lackluster. It's mainly good for the A.I. who doesn't know what retreat and heal means.

I'm not sure that stacks. The effect of populism is covered by this bit of code:

<WoundedUnitDamageMod>-25</WoundedUnitDamageMod>

It might simply mean that units fight like they had +25% more health (max 100%) and the description is just poorly worded.
