Humanity's first experiment with a world government has unravelled. Twenty-three strong independent states have arisen to challenge the IUN hegemony of the world. Each are determined to preserve its new-found independence, and to remake the world in their own image. A massive landgrab for the rest of the world is about to begin. But will they lead humanityto a bright new future, or will they doom civilization, so recently salvaged from the verge of destruction, to war and oblivion?

Yes, you can still join. Unfortunately you only get your 10 starting claims this turn though. You have to wait until next turn to do anything.

Since it's not relevant to the GM's update, the USSR will post a recent three-way agreement between the USSR, Canada, and NCR here:



Canada, the USSR, and the NCR have all agreed that these should be the borders within the former USA. The NCR and USSR pledged not to expand into the former Canada and Canada not into the former USA.

When the US atom-bombed Hiroshima and Nagasaki, they didn't immediately flip under American control, they got destroyed. I think that a nuked province should always become wasteland.

Rule of thumb would be anything longer than a five posts exchange. Also, preferably, since alliance proposals and the like only affect one or two players, the proposal should be sent via PM or VM, and then announced here or in the Claims thread.

Since there is a claims thread, does it really matter how long the diplo talks are? Beside I like to read them so prefer to have them here...

Time for some RP stuff:

News from Havana

"Admiral Castro and other influential men and women of the Empire announce today the creation of the Transitional Government. This government puts Admiral Castro at the helm and 200 men and women in the Politburo. The goal of the Transitional Government is to write a new constitution which should bring democracy to Cuba.

There is dissent within the Politburo on which direction to take Cuba. On one extreme are MPs who believe that the government should ultimately decentralize and become a Confederation of relatively independent states while another extreme is calling for a government headed solely by Admiral Castro, who would be crowned the third Emperor of the Caribbean Sun.

In other news, the Empire of the Caribbean Sun has landed marines on the island of Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico was once a territory of the former United States before the Conflagration of the first half of the 21st century in which Puerto Rico distanced itself from the United States. Independent, it enjoyed some stability until Americans attempted to conquer the island. In the end, however, the Plague ended the war.

The Puerto Rican people welcomed Cuban marines who paraded through San Juan's streets. Both sides view the annexation as welcome. In related news, Caribbean/Cuban marines have also landed in parts of former Honduras, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica in order to establish order in these regions.

In other news, the Caribbean Navy will be conducting military excercises off the coast of Puerto Rico. As a sign of good will, it invites other nations to join into these military exercises as a way to foster peace.

The Pacific Federation is doing fine now, recovering from the world disaster and all, but Oceania's getting a bit crowded, so we're worried a little about that... and I don't know what else to say.

If the Pacific Federation wants, the Empire of the Caribbean Sun would be happy to open our borders so that people of your overcrowded nation could immigrat to our nation. In exchange, we could the schematics and plans for our more advanced factories, allowing your people to increase their standard of life to even greater heights.
