UPDATE 7 – 640 AF

Wars continuing ravaging the River valley as many nations run out of natural expansion areas and thus turn their sights on their neighbours. In Imperia the High Lord initiates a massive expansion of the army seeking to gain as much of an advantage as possible in the area before Calador and Mearlekrol starts causing trouble for him. Sending it into the unclaimed lands to the southwest the massive forces overruns all opposition and takes a large swathe of land.
(Imperia: -210 warriors)

Their northern neighbours of Calador start their own military buildup to protect their growing nation, but amidst all the clanging of swords and shields, they also look toward a more peaceful future as they start construction of a massive harbour in the capital city of Cimbar. They also start conducting massive diplomacy with the neighbouring tribes securing several deals which should maintain the peace in the region for the next generation or two. Some of the more uncivilized barbarians which still have no nation of their own are offered protection and accepts as they feel it will make things a bit more safe for them. The offers of good Caladonian pottery and many gifts didn’t make the decision any harder for the tribal leaders.

The Dashtakan leader has a plan. It is a very secret plan concerning how to win the war with the northern barbarians and it is so secret that he hid it so it wouldn’t fall into the hands of enemy spies. Unfortunately he hid it so well that he couldn’t find it again and it wasn’t until his youngest boy wandered off in the palace looking for a place to cause some mischief that it was recovered. Where he found it he wouldn’t say, but find it the young prince did. The plan was immediately sent to the troops so that the long-awaited offensive could finally start. Along with messenger carrying the plans, troops started boarding the few ships of the Dashtakan navy and sail north. Landing here and there, raiding whatever they could find, they noticed an astounding lack of warriors protecting the barbarian villages. Apart from women, children and old men the villages had only a few ill-tempered goats for protection.
Seizing the opportunity the small fleet found a good place to make landfall and dug in expecting enemy forces to appear. As the days passed and no attack came the force got organized and struck east seeking to link up with the forces fighting there. A few minor skirmishes were easily won before a massive battle finally took place. Discovering that they were about to be attacked in the rear by another enemy force the barbarians started pulling back to avoid getting caught between two forces. Unfortunately for them they hadn’t counted on the force marches made by the Dashtakan forces and thus they were met in battle two days earlier than they expected. Knowing that they were being pursued by the other Dashtakan force and that their only way free was to fight their way out they stood their ground and fought to the last man. The battle was never in any doubt, but it was bloody beyond belief as the barbarians preferred to die fighting, taking as many enemies with them as possible, rather than surrender.
The Dashtakan army was victorious and all resistance to their rule has been removed.
(Dashtaka: -230 warriors)

To the far East Ironal continues their peaceful expansion and starts a massive roadbuilding project. New roads are laid down and soon all the vital parts of the nation are well connected and protected by patrols.

After this peaceful interlude it is time to return to the fighting. After defeating Succubu the nation of Ibe started looking for a new foe to take on. Most of their neighbours were a bit too strong and advanced so they set their sights on the small barbarian nation to their north. Sending almost the entire army north the barbarians who had a wary eye on Higoria who had expanded in their direction recently were somewhat surprised. They quickly recovered from the initial defeat, but in the long run there was little they could do against the battlehardened Ibeian army. As Ibe continues to forcefully expand, their neighbours start looking nervously over their shoulders fearful of where the dagger will strike next.
(Ibe: -120 warriors)

Higoria does indeed continue their expansion, but focus instead on the more unsettled barbarians to their northwest.

Down in the deep forests Cironelle enjoys a peaceful time, far from the fighting in the Riverlands. Continuing to peacefully work on their magnificent temple, they do find the time to set up a new outpost to focus on mining and foresting in the east.

Other nations at war are the Taran Federation who decide to conquer some of the neighbouring barbarians. Other nations fighting barbarians are Drokhas, Toras, Bateria and Tirpi. Most other nations grow their forces in expectance of the coming showdown.

No orders from: Syldavia & Tiesto.

Next deadline: Friday, August 25th at 18,00 CET (17,00 GMT)

Very quiet update. I think that unless something big happens, then we’ll take 2-3 more turns and then a BT… unless there are some objections to it?

Here is the map. Stats up in a few minutes

The state of Ibe

Ibe-n- war-like nation bordering the Tandril [1] and various states that also border the river.

The nation, taking its name from the name of the mother of the chief Ibian goddes Isis (Ibea), was relatively peaceful in its very beginnings but began to take its war-like nature after the third king, Itak, converted to Ibae.[2]

Religion has played a key part in Ibian devolpment. One of the major ideals of Ibian faith is the concept of where the inner-states[3] were all part of the primedial state of Ibe. The legends claimed that the land was united under the rule of the benevolant goddess Isis, goddes of nature and war. She was reported to have united the people under her into one army and conquered the region- thus creating Ibe.

The state fell apart after Isis grew discontent with the actions of the people- as they worshipped lesser gods more often than her- and after her rule of two hundred years she left for the immortal realm. After her departure the state collapsed in upon itself and the superstate of Ibe became a legend.

The name Ibe still lived on in the middle region and after a while another state rose in the area. Under the third king, Itak, the name was officially changed to Ibe and the cause of recreating ibe was officially adopted. Succubu, the land to the north of Ibe, became the first target after its king began to attack the morals of Isis. The war was slow, hindered by a lack of experience with the Ibian troops. But the will of Ibe could not be denied and Succubu fell after some years.

The fifth king, Idar, then set his sights on an easier target- Tardash[4]. The state collapsed easily to the now more experienced troops of Ibe. The lands were quickly conquered and incorporated as a province into the Ibian empire. The king, after allowing his country to recover from the Succubu war, was then faced with a complex decision- the next move.

Ibe was surronded by states that could have been attacked in the very beginning- Succubu had come first only because of its attack on Isis. Idar had to choose from a plateful of enemies- should he attack the Taran federation- a nation held together loosely and wouldn't be much of a challenge. Or would his energies be better spent on Pithal- another nation that would give him access to the great river.

There was also Slydavia-a foolish nation that had decided to claim land on the other side of the river. War could be brought against it with relative ease. Or should Higoria bear the brunt of the Ibian armies for its transgression of crossing the river? But in the end, none of those nations really mattered to Idar- the king, to ensure his support, had to make a concession to his people. In the end it came down to two choices- Tyran withs its river access or Sonnia with its rich mountains. The only decision was which one Idar would choose to reunite with Ibe first.

[1]Tandril- name of the river, I don't think theres ever been one decided upon.
[2]The name of the religion, along with the country, is Ibe.
[3] Inner-states- The countries of Ibe, Succubu, Tyran, Pithal, Sonnia, Taran, and some of the lands of Higoria and Slydavia.
[4]Tardash- that little barbarian state that was to the north.
