Governmental Reforms of the Union of All Norsemen of the Year of Our Lord 1751​

Enactment

His Majesty, by the Grace of G-d, King of All Norsemen, Bearer of the Nordic Crown, and Heir to the Thrones of Denmark, Norway, and Sweden enacts the following reforms to the governmental bodies of the Union of All Norsemen with the consent of all the Norse folk and in service to G-d Almighty.

The Oath of Obligation

His Majesty, by the Grace of G-d, King of All Norsemen, Bearer of the Nordic Crown, and Heir to the Thrones of Denmark, Norway, and Sweden gives His word to uphold the Oath of Obligation as contained in the Declaration of the Union of All Norsemen whereby He does swear unto to His people to remember the Obligations of The Nordic Crown to The Norsemen and thus to uphold their rights to life, to liberty, and to property. He gives His word upon the Sanctified and Most Holy Name of Almighty G-d, King of All Kings, and Lord in Heaven and on Earth.

Article I: The Constituent Countries

The Union of All Norsemen is made up of numerous entities brought together under The Nordic Crown. These are the Constituent Countries, including the Enthroned Nations, Enthroned Colonies, and Colonies. The individual rites of the Constituent Countries can not be denied, except when it is obviously necessary for the betterment of all Norsemen. They each have distinct centuries old identities, but these identities must remain subordinate to the common Nordic identity of The Union.

Article II: The Enthroned Nations

The Enthroned Nations are the ancient kingdoms and founders of The Union: Denmark, Norway, and Sweden. Together, their thrones have been inherited by the King of All the Norsemen and their crowns are the Nordic Crown born by the King of All the Norsemen. In all matters the Enthroned Nations have primacy within The Union over the other Constituent Countries. This primacy, however, may not extend to point where it may infringe on the natural rights of the other Constituent Countries and their people. Likewise, the Enthroned Nations have the right to pursue legal action should their rights be threatened by other Constituent Countries.

Article III: The Enthroned Colonies

The Enthroned Colonies are those most ancient colonies who have existed as integral members of The Nordic Community for centuries and who have developed identities nearly as distinct as those of the Enthroned Countries. Namely, they are: Iceland, the Faroe Islands, and Greenland. In all matters the Enthroned Colonies are subordinate to the Enthroned Nations while taking primacy to the other Constituent Countries. This primacy, however, may not extend to the point where it may infringe on the natural rights of the other Constituent Countries and their people. Likewise, the Enthroned Colonies have the right to pursue legal action should their rights be threatened by other Constituent Countries.

Sub-Article to Article III: Iceland

Iceland is unique among the Enthroned Colonies, having a history longer than any of the others, an individual identity stronger than any of the others, greater importance to The Union than any of the others, and a greater part in The Common Nordic Identity than any of the others. For these reasons Iceland is considered in all matters primacy over the other Enthroned Colonies. This primacy, however, may not extend to the point where it may infringe on the natural rights of the other Enthroned Colonies or other Constituent Countries and their people. Likewise, Iceland has the right to pursue legal action should her rights be threatened by other Enthroned Colonies or other Constituent Countries.

Article IV: The Old Colonies

The Old Colonies are those colonies beyond the Enthroned Colonies which were founded first and have become important to The Common Nordic Identity as well as developing individual identities. Namely, they are: New Sweden and New Denmark including the Danish Virgin Islands. In all matters the Old Colonies are subordinate to the Enthroned Nations and Enthroned Colonies while taking primacy over the New Colonies. This primacy, however, may not extend to the point where it may infringe on the natural rights of the other Constituent Countries and their people. Likewise, the Old Colonies have the right to pursue legal action should their rights be threatened by other Constituent Countries.

Article V: The New Colonies

The New Colonies are those more recent colonies that are important to The Common Nordic Identity but have not yet achieved the same importance to the Norse folk and The Union as the rest of the Constituent Countries. Namely, they are: New Norway [1], New Trøndelag [2], and New Zealand [3]. In all matters the New Colonies are subordinate to the other Constituent countries and have no primacy. They have the right to pursue legal action should their rights be threatened by other Constituent Countries.

Article VI: Finland

Finland is here forth to be considered a Constituent Country and thus an integral part of The Union and the Common Nordic Identity. They are to have the status of an Enthroned Colony, having a strong Nordic identity at least equal to that of any other Enthroned Colony and an importance at least equal to that of any other Enthroned Colony. In all honesty it must in fact be stated that Finland has a stronger individual identity than any of the other Enthroned Colonies, an importance to The Union great than any of the other Enthroned Colonies, and a greater part in The Common Nordic Identity than any of the other Enthroned Colonies. For these reasons Finland is considered in all matters to have primacy over the other Enthroned Colonies while still being subordinate in all matters to Iceland. Their primacy, however, may not extend to the point where it may infringe on the rights of the other Constituent Countries and their people. Likewise, Finland has the right to pursue legal action should her rights be threatened by other Constituent Countries.

Article VII: Reforms to the Lantdag

From here forth the Lantdag is to include, in addition to the thirty representatives from each of Denmark, Norway, and Sweden and the ten representatives from Iceland, ten representatives from Finland. Similarly, the Kansler must from here forth receive one vote from Finland in addition to the other required votes in elections. Furthermore, the Lantdag’s jurisdiction is extended to Finland, having the responsibility of legislative authority throughout Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Iceland, and Finland.

Article VIII: Reforms to the Stortinget

From here forth the Lantdag is to include, in addition to the fifty representatives from each of Denmark, Norway, and Sweden, the twenty representatives from Iceland, and the ten representatives from each of the Faroe Islands and Greenland, fifteen representatives from Finland. Similarly, Visekong must from here forth receive one vote from Finland in addition to the other required votes in elections.

Article IX: Reforms to the Althing

From here forth the Althing is to include, in addition to the forty representatives from each of Denmark, Norway, and Sweden, the thirty representatives from Iceland, the twenty representatives from New Denmark, and the ten representatives from each of the Faroe Islands, Greenland, and New Sweden, twenty-five representatives from Finland and five representatives from each of New Norway, New Trøndelag, and New Zealand. Similarly, the Visekong must from here forth receive one vote from each of Finland, New Norway, New Trøndelag, and New Zealand in addition to the other required votes in elections.

Article X: Reforms to the Senat

From here forth the Senat is to include, in addition to the sixty representatives from New Denmark and the fifty from each of the Faroe Islands, Greenland, and New Sweden, forty from each of New Norway, New Trøndelag, and New Zealand. Similarly, the Statholder must from here forth receive one vote from each of New Norway, New Trøndelag, and New Zealand in addition to the other required votes in elections. Furthemore, the Senat’s jurisdiction is extended to New Norway, New Trøndelag, and New Zealand, having the responsibility of legislative authority throughout New Denmark, the Faroe Islands, Greenland, New Sweden, New Norway, New Trøndelag, and New Zealand.

Article XI: Reforms to the Høyesterett

From here forth the Høyesterett is to include, in addition to the four judges from each of Denmark, Norway, and Sweden, the three judges from Iceland, the two judges from each of Greenland and the Faroe Islands, and the one judge from each of New Denmark and New Sweden, three judges from Finland and one judge from each of New Norway, New Trøndelag, and New Zealand.

I resign as Poland, both because of Amon taking Hungary meaning all my diplomatic efforts this past turn is useless, and because i'm in too many neses such that rather than being half-hearted in all, i must cut some away :( Sorry Moose.
 
I've got no idea where I stand with any countries. Orders will be extremely hard to do, without general knowledge of who's my friend and who's my enemy. I'll wait till after the update to become involved.

The United Kingdom and the Dutch fight over Australia: January 17th

As known over the past months the United Kingdom has been at wits end over the Dutch persistence to colonize the claimed lands of Australia. Claimed last year by the Crown for the Empire and as such has begun a colonization attempt on the lands. Sending many pioneers of the British Isles to a new and somewhat wild land. The Dutch however refuse envoys from the UK and say there is no rule or laws exempting them from the claiming of Australia. Even with the backing of other colonial powers such as the Union of All Norsemen who believe the British can claim any land they discover and openly make claims to first. The King of Holland is very frustrated and refuses to back down, continuing his colonial attempts. While this festers the British purchase the Venetian colonies on the Red Sea and in India. Making Britain the dominant colonial power for sometime to come.


The Venetians Claim Victory in Italy! January 29th

With the remaining Spanish forces pushed from the Peninsula the Venetian armies can rest easy, At least for now. Attempts at peace with Spain and the complete ceding of Italy to Venice is failing. The crazed Spanish King calls this war far from over and says every vile Venetian will fail in the end. The campaign ends successfully in Sicily with the last bits of the Spanish army retreating via sea to Tunis.

California Swaps hands twice: February 4th

Our King Christian made the a great choice in purchasing the cheap but wealthy Californian colonies from Britain. Only to resell the northern half of the colony to the fledgling Pacific American Company. Making a profit and bringing mineral rich areas into the hands of the Union.

Brandenburg Victories in Prussia! February 5th

King Frederick leads armies to victory over much larger Polish armies in the Prussian provinces. Morale is high and casualties are low says a messenger from the front. The Polish are easy targets for our cannon and victory is assured!

Russo-Japanese Trade Flourishes! February 7th

The Russian-Japanese trade agreement brings a relatively economic poor region of Russia to somewhat booming. The cities built by the Tsar prosper under the huge influx of trade from Japan. Both countries prepare to expand the trade agreements by Summers end and hope that the fishing and silk from Japan will benefit them both.

Britain declares war on Holland over Claims! February 20th

After over eight months of diplomatic conflict the final straw was pulled by the Dutch’s out right refusal to leave Australia and respect the British claims there. Hanover to soon joins the war and the Dutch homeland is soon under occupation. Most of their military remains in the colonies with no clue of the defeat at home. With no warning coming the colonies are soon to meet such a fate. Give em hell boys!

Holy Roman Imperial Armies lose battles in Bohemia - March 2nd

Hungarian and Polish combined forces crush the Holy Roman Emperors dreams in Prague. The two large armies met with nearly half a million men in total but once again the Hungarian troops march to victory thanks to superior training and leadership. The march for the capital is still on and soon the Emperor will be captured or so believes the King of Hungary.

Portuguese Remain Neutral/ Expand Colonies - March 4th


The King of Portugal has remained neutral and decided it best to work outside of Europe and build up a power colonial Empire. The King said he believes the Colonies are the future and the economy of Europe will be harmed horribly with this war. The King also sends a request to Zanzibar for their immediate joining of the Empire. Response has been no so far.


Duke of Navarre Rising - March 30th

The third in line of succession and in his prime the Duke of Navarre Ferdinand is prepared to claim the thrown from his failing Uncle Charles III. With support from his peers and Venice he rises up in Pamplona to great success. The king is off at the coast in the North over seeing the construction of his grand fleet. Which is costing the country way more money than it can afford. With a hired army in Pamplona and a couple pockets rising up in the rest of Spain it seems the Duke will soon be King. But Charles brings his armies back around to face him on the field near Pamplona. Charles wins at first but is then flanked and forced to retreat. Duke Ferdinand is on a war path!

Clash of the Titans! - April 3rd

The Spanish Grand Fleet is completed and sent to the south and into the Mediterranean to fight the Venetian navy. The superiorly trained and maintained Venetians easily make drift wood out of the fleet. And send Charles hopes to retake Italy packing!

Economic Boom in Georgia! - April 5th

The small but mighty Kingdom of Georgia begins copper mining heavily in its mountainous regions and brings a new form of wealth to the nation. Investors from Russia move in to grab up land to get these coppers and other minerals being found. This economic boom brings up the living standards a bit.


Siege of Helsinki Succeeds! - April 17th

The Norse armies over run the city swiftly on the morning of the 12th. The Finnish surrender soon after and the terms are yet to be decided. Currently small out crops of resistance in the inner regions of Finland hold out. But the main army surrendered.

Bulgaria Builds Fortifications in Event of Hungarian Invasions - May 1st

The Bulgarian King builds a series of stone forts around the Capital and the northern border. This is reaction to the recent war in Europe.

Norsemen Join war against Brandenburg! - May 8th

The Norse armies had to change initial plans of invasion and rethink the invasion point but they did join the war in support of Hanover and Poland. The defeat of Brandenburg came swiftly. The Norse had little fighting to be done when they invaded and just occupied the lands. With the defeat of his Nation imminent Frederick and a large number of those loyal to him escape through Hanover and board ships. Unknown is the location they are heading but it can be proven that he is alive and has escaped the war. The rumors spread that he will return with a large army and save Brandenburg from the heathen enemies. But until that day, long live Frederick!

War of the French! - June 7th

The War that seemed like it would never begin did. And a large one in fact. This is considered a part of the Great war. The Armies of Aquitaine and Burgundy met in combat on a huge scale. While at the same time the Venetians were fighting on a losing front to Aquitaine who invaded in aid of Spain. The battle for Dijon came quickly as the Burgundian forces were no match right away. They had sent an army to help the Holy Roman Emperor which had lost also back in April. This and the surprise attack led to a fast moving front. Problems eventually came when the Spanish were cut off from Aquitaine mostly by the Navarre. Which hurt the reinforcements in the south. But the line against the Venetians held. In the north the battle for Dijon began and the siege began. The two French nations continued to fight across the border.

The Dutch Empire Collapses! - June 30th

Since earlier in the year the British and Hanoverians have held the Dutch homeland. Which made the largely mercenary army desert. No pay then no fighting they said. Which made the capture of much of the Dutch colonial Empire possible. The heaviest fighting was in Dutch Manhattan and Texas colonies. Where the locals resent the British. Over all it was swift and the Dutch empire is nearly completely defeated before the End of June.

Victory comes natural to the British so it seems. Another one for the Crown!


Norsemen and Byzantines join war against Venice! - July 25th

The two nations join the war against Venice and invade Egypt and the Balkans. Both aiding each other where needed the lighter Venetian forces in these areas quickly lose to the larger armies facing them. Venice is far from lost however and is merely falling back until the time to pounce comes. The Scandinavian navy and the Venetian navy have yet to meet in combat mostly due to the rumors of which side is bigger. They are playing a game of chase and no one has won yet.

Romania finally falls!- August 4th

After a year of combat Romania finally surrenders. Bulgaria is quick to send statements of disgust to Poland and Hungary. Saying they are complete barbarians.

The two fail to come to peace as the Holy Roman Emperor wants nothing short of Hungarian destruction!

Venice Signs peace with the HRE! - September 11th

White peace is signed.


Incan Empire Builds Navy! - November 3rd

The Incan empire finishes its first ships in November and says it is no longer a back water nation. Telling the world the Incas are back.

Orthodox Christians flee Poland! - December 19th

Late in the year the Norse open the borders to fleeing Orthodox faith members as the Polish have been harshly converting them. This gives a boost in population of around 40 thousand in Estonia.

They watched not in which water they tread, and got sunk by your Ships of the Line. We ask of you to recognize our claims to New Lisbon (New Guinea) as we did our utmost to get Netherlands to leave, even offering a colony of ours in exchange for you getting their Australian colonies.
