Interesting Screenshots

no seriously... that little bit of a lake was all there was for water. I did discover a small island that had a lake that was as big as the one on the home continent (well Pangaea but YKWIM  )

I think this must be close on a time winner for games that don't involve a volcano blast.

My first two warriors took out Russia and the Zulu so it was just a matter of finding Spain and getting there. This was on a (tiny=80% h2o) tiny world.

And for those who think some of us are kidding about "The AI just won't trade". I had done nothing to lose my rep.

I wouldn't say that you are kidding, I think it is rather that the English value Mathematics more than Monarchy. Either because of what vmxa already pointed out (invested research), or maybe because they are the only civ that has Mathematics while Monarchy is known to many. Maybe even both.

They will trade, if you up the offer a little; if you added Writing, HBR, gold, and whatnot then you would see.

To hopefully expand on what m'Lord Emsworth wrote, "I doubt they will accept this proposal" actually means you almost have enough for the trade. If the advisor had said "they will be insulted by this deal.", then you would need A LOT more to make such a trade. As pointed out by m'Lord Emsworth Lizzie could have a turn or two left on researching Monarchy, which if you do the calculations on it compared to the Mathematics tech, costs less than Mathematics *for those last turns*.

I KNOW that I have often researched a tech, got beaten to it, with several AIs learning the tech, and then bought it on the last turn of research for 10 gold... I think even in the late middle ages or industrial ages. Next time I do it, I'll post a picture. Or if anyone else has one, can you please do so?

Sometimes, a deal is too good not to share it with you folks:

Medicine was a monopoly tech at the time - I'd just gifted Alex up (from the AA - poor guy is stuck on a horrible rocky island). The other Sci civ (besides my Ottomans) were the Byzantines, and Theodora got Steam Power for me, which was an easy trade after this one! My luck ran out after that as I got Sanitization as my free tech :(

Except I got the Iron Works message and then found this:

Mmm. Capital+Iron Works!! And being Ottoman I'm right in the middle of my GA.

That is really nice. I just had a similar experience in a 20K game, where both iron and coal popped up in my 20K city. I ended the game netting 216 shields per turn and 550 beakers per turn in my 20K city. It almost make up for getting my first (and only) SGL about 10 turns before I won (for either ecology or recycling; I did the whole rest of the modern tree before starting on ecology).

One of the smartest moves I've seen the AI do. They were losing horribly in a war against another AI, so they have a transport go halfway around the world, capture a weakly defended core city, and start rushing out units from it. With their enemy busy fighting on two fronts, they were able to begin to regain ground, and win the war.

Then they did the same exact thing to me, pulling me into the war, which resulted in the complete loss of all the gains they'd had, in addition to most of their core.:mwaha:

There is an editor....:mischief:

I like your reasoning, Turner. And if you use the editor, and want the Ironworks, drop pollution clean up time for workers a lot, since you will be doing a lot of clean up.

And I will need to find that Pokemon resource, that gives me all sorts of ideas for things.
