C3C PBEM : "Happy Trails" - Rise of Rome scenario

Musings From Macedonia

Midnight Oil

Kingstuart II:king: marched through the newly conquered city of Midnight Oil today to preach to his new subjects. He began speaking about the glory of Greece and the honor that they would all have as members of the New Empire. Halfway through his well - prepared speech somebody screamed: "Persia Lives! Death to the Greek Enslavers! Death to Kingstuart II:king: !". His Majesty Kingstuart II:king: received quite a shock and had to retire to bed for a few hours.

Several more inteligent members of the royal entourage tried a different tact. They told stories of how the evil Prince of Persia was slaughtering babies in Persepolis to appease his cruel appetites. The screams of the crowd immediately became supportive of the Greeks and the cheer raised was : "Death to the Prince of Persia!".

The resistance in Midnight Oil has ended.

Ergili

With the situation in Midnight Oil resolved, the Greek Cavalry advanced to Ergili. After a long battle, the defenders had been worn down but not yet defeated. The Greek Leader ALEXANDER THE AVERAGE led another charge with his cavalry cohorts and managed to take the city.

The Battle of Ergili

I lost my notes for this battle! I do know that I lost 2-3 HC and killed at least 2 Numidian Mercenarys, 2 HC and 1 immortal. I'm really sorry Eclipse.:(

According to the blaze rules of battle reporting I wouldn't have to report alot of it anyways I guess.

Marathon

Persian Forces were quickly advancing towards the colony by land and by sea. The Greek defenders scrambled and managed to launch an attack against the approaching land forces capturing 2 cats and 1 catapult. At Sea, 2 Enemy Galleys were sunk and the remainder surrounded.

Hey,

"Blaze rules of battle reporting" :D I really like that!!

If you mean not reporting your wounded in your own city that is
correct.

Very nice report.

This shall be my most boring report ever.
No attacks were made although personally objectives were met.

Well done Pinman, and your reports are storybook quality, if you don't do that for a living maybe you should consider it.

I send all of the compliments over to Blaze. :)

He was the one who taught me the "Blaze Rules of Batte Reporting". You know Blaze you should seriously consider writing a sticky for this site with your rules.(This is NOT flattery I am SERIOUS)

EDIT: If anybody sees a hidden meaning here it was unintentional. I meant what I said.

I wish you luck. There IS a hidden meaning in the message that I saw after I typed it out. I thought it was rather funny so I left it in.

Carthage War Report

Carthage Troops Landed at Croton & Ancona.
"Firecats & Numidians Join Warhorses."

Croton
A new campaign has been ordered by Hannibal with Croton
as the target. The Syracuse Fleet has landed Numidians &
Firecats at the once Roman Horses Stables west of the walled
town. There they joined what remains of the 1st Italian Heavy
Cavalry
& the IV Cartho War Horse.

Ancona, Northeast of Rome
The first of the North Afrikan War Horses have landed south
of the town. Rumors abound about what they are there for.
One thing is for sure they will not be attacking any walled
cities. :D

South of Rome
The I Nora Elite War Horse defeated the last Roman Garrison
that had attacked the XXXV Elite War Horse.

Blood Sport

The Persian Stronghold has been attacked by an advance force of Heavy Cavalry. Although they sustained heavy casualties, the cavalry were able to report a general idea of the city's defenses. With this information, Kingstuart II :king: made the decision to advance all forces.

The siege of Bloody Sport has begun. The question now is, in this game of sport, who is the predator and who is the prey?

The Persian African leadership, whoever they may be, has has sent an additional force on a suicide mission towards the Greek Colonies. They succeeded admirably. The Greeks captured a Fire Catapult in the short battle that ensued. At sea, the Greek Navy sunk Three Persian Galleys.

Another well done advance & report but a questiom arises. In your battle reports, Blood Sport for an example, you list thier strengths at the time of attack but not the outcome as I read it everyone survived because I don't see
4/4 HC vs 4/4 Numidian Mercenary = HC 1/4 vs 4/4 Numidian Mercenary I understand here that your HC survived.

Will play turn when I get done with work today.

I do except my system (Or more aptly Blaze's system) adds everything together into a single line.

For Example:

4/4 HC (3/4) vs 4/4 Numidian Mercenary

In this case the Greek Heavy Cavalry killed the Persian Numidian Mercenary and ended up at 3/4 Hit Points.

I show death as an Underline and remaining strength in brackets next to the name. e.g- 4/4 HC (3/4)

For obvious reasons an underlined unit does not get remaining strength shown.

If you want me to change it to the adyyc method of battle reporting i'll be happy to do so in this PBEM.

Thank you your system is fine "I" just didn't understand it, but I do now. Thank you

It appears Kingstuart II you have knocked a little wind out of my sails in the recent years of Battle. King Darius III commanding a forward regiment battles a Greek force near Marathon

4/4 HC vs 4/4 HC = 1/4 HC vs 0/4 HC
4/4 HC vs 3/4 HC = 1/4 HC vs 0/4 HC

Meanwhile King Artaxerxes II Commands 3 fronts, North near Midnight Oil, West near Blood Sport and in the East near Skythian territory

pic_088_1750BC.jpg

For now Greek leader you step forward, for now I defend my Blood Sport, but tomorrow will come and the Power of the Prince of Persia will be far more than you think. as we speak today, my Lords adjust thier plans of Victory! Enjoy these next few years, but before you know it the Tides will turn.

Carthage War Report

Croton Falls to Hannibal; Scorpinopolis Built

Carthaginian Italy
Hannibal ordered that Scorpinopolis encampment be
built south of Croton. This enabled fresh Carthage
War Horses
to be unloaded and used for the attack
on Croton. The taking of Croton started with Carius
of Olbia's Firecats
bringing down the walls. Then
Hannibal's Oliphants with elite Spainish Heavy Cavalry,
the IV Cartho War Horse & the III Messana War
Horse
charged the city. The battle raged back &
forth. Finally the reinforcement arrived from
Scorpinopolis. But it was a lowly Carthage Numidian
Merc
that took the city.

Spainish Heavy Cavalry (Elite) vs Roman Garrison 4/4
IV Cartho War Horse -3 (1/4 retreat) vs Roman Garrison -1, +1 (4/5 Elite)

No fighting this turn as things are both confused :crazyeye: and awaiting developments.
The force to oppose the Goths is forming at least 7 Heavy Cavalry have been allocated to the region to quell the ambitions of the barbarians.

I have GPSed to Eclipse tonight but I don't have time to put up a war report.

Since i am going away until sunday afternoon this means that Eclipse may or may not wish to play the turn.

I have sent him a skeleton war report concerning my turn and I expect to post the proper one on sunday.

Sorry about the continuing delays,:crazyeye:
