2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil Thread

Not a good match to watch with Argentina playing this way. Not impressed at all. But then, this is only the first game and things can change as we all know from the past. Overall the worst night of football last night. Let's hope tonight we get to see some attractive stuff from the German group.
But then again, we will get to see more antics from CR7

An interesting fact. The national anthems weren't played before the France - Honduras match because of some technical issue, but the goal-line tech worked flawlessly...:crazyeye:

I was looking forward to the French anthem too. Marsielle is a rousing song.

RE: Germany vesus Portugal: I read that Lahm is set for midfield. Big mistake IMO. Lahm may be the only one competent in the German squad to deal with Ronaldo on the left hand side. It will be also exciting to see where the goals will come from. Klose is ancient in footballing terms - does he have it in him?

Actually, two years ago, it was Boateng who played against Ronaldo and did very well. He'll be tasked with the same today.
Some well known major German newspaper says, Müller will play upfront:
Neuer - Boateng, Mertesacker, Hummels, Höwedes - Lahm - Schürrle, Khedira, Kroos, Podolski - Müller

Özil on the bench as well. Finally! So maybe 4-3-3 with Klose as joker. So far though, I never liked it when Germany was playing without a real striker. I'm not sure if he's fit enough but in the last match, the German offense looked really good when Klose came on the pitch.

Boateng did actually cross my mind. I believe physically he can keep up with Ronaldo which is the main thing.
The trick is...Ronaldo rarely tracks back..so do you let Boateng move forward in possession and leave Ronaldo behind? Or do you always stick Boateng on him?

I guess, Boateng will not go forward very often.

And it turns out that Özil and Götze are playing instead of Podolski and Schürrle.

Four centrebacks are playing. Lahm and Khedira are holding, that looks very solid. I'm afraid that if Germany don't keep a track of MOutinho he will lift his head and unleash Ronaldo. That's a big threat.
Final result prediction?

Taken advantage of any of the enhanced odds on this Salty?

I just got Germany to win on my 8-fold. I need to get in on more action though, some people are literally printing money.

Indeed, personally I'm a scrub in picking a good bet. I'm relying on people with proven trackrecords.

Titanbet were offering a price boost of 3.0 for Argentina to win last night. Got a bit on that. My spreadsheet is happy :)
Personally I see little value in today's games. The latter two could be anything. Portugal/Germany - I think the safest thing is for both teams to score. That's about it.

...are you implying Uruguay are more likely finalists than Germany? They proved they are seriously hampered without Suarez.

wow, has there been any penalty in this tournament yet that was a clear case? this case looks rather weak as well..
