19Delta's ship yard

This is my progress on the Fuso thus far.

I resized the propellor blades, and I still have a few things to add to the deck and then I will work on the super structure. Thanks to wyrmshadow for the Pete that is pictured.

Turrets look a little too squat to me.

hadn't really planned on building any US ships due to the fact that most of them have been made or will be made soon. I can't really say what the future holds. Right now I'm just working on this current ship and maybe one more. After that I don't know.

19Delta:
I would be eternally grateful for any Japanese warships for my scenarios.
The US treaty cruisers ( such as the Portland class) would be nice too,
there is one already but the hull is all wrong.

I'll take it, but keep in mind that I'm still learning how to animate and turn that stuff into civ units myself. If you're still interested, pm me and I will give you my e-mail.

yeah, I just hit a lag. i've been working late for the past few days, so i've been working in spurts. the weekend is coming up though, so i should have some time to catch up on my work.

Just wanted to take this opportunity to bump this thread, and to let everyone know that I have made significant progress on the Fuso. I will have some shots posted soon of the construction process.

That´s great. :) Such a ship is heavily needed.

 That was a loooong weekend!:p

I'm using Blender for all of my modeling needs.

I wanted to get a little further ahead in construction, but I figured that some of you out there are salivating thinking about this, so I thought I would give you some eye candy to hold you over until I get it completed.

I haven't built the AA yet. I will do that when I get the rest of the ship completed. This is my second attempt at the superstructure. What do you guys think? It's not as detailed as I would have liked it to be, but I think the texturing will make up for what I didn't build. Let me know how you like it so far.

19Delta:
Your work has inspired me. I might just do a 3D model of the IJN Kumano.

Is Blender the best program for this sort of thing? I already have Bryce and
Truespace but haven't used either one enough to get really proficient with
them. When I did the Sukara I used and old version of TurboCAD Pro, rather
not try that again.

Construction progress: funnel added, last major part to do now is the rear super structure, after that, I will get to work on the catapult, AA guns, and little miscelaneous stuff scattered throughout the deck.

Eric A: From my personal experience, Blender is the best program for building models. Not to mention it is a free download. I used Blender to build the Sheridan, Tu-160 Blackjack (both turned into units by wyrmshadow), K1 MBT, that startrek ship that I made, and my current project that you see here. I build my models in Blender and then I export them to Bryce for animation and texturing. I will go back to working on the K1 once I finish with this. Blender looks daunting at first, but it is really quite simple and easy to learn how to use. Just go to wikipedia and follow the tutorial step by step, by the time you get to putting the hat on the stickman, you will know the basics to building models. I stopped reading the tutorial after I put the hat on the stick man myself.

yep, here it is.

Just follow the tutorial step by step all the way from the beginning. Don't skip ahead whatever you do. You will get lost. The section that I stopped at is called putting hat on the man. It will take you about two hours of reading and experimenting to get to that point.

Construction progress: Ship construction complete, still needs AA guns, awaiting life boats, float planes, catapults, and various deck items.
