California to legalize marijuana?

^^ Can't wait till BasketCase shows up and proves both you guys wrong. The legalization of marijuana will kill millions.

Indeed. The majority of people in human history that have smoked marijuana have all died.

I am crossing my fingers. I hope the Californians do the right thing, it would be weird for a state like California not being the first one to decriminalize cannibis for recreational purposes. I suppose if California doesn't get this done for next upcoming next year, they will still put it on the ballot for another following year till it get passed.

this isn't new really, my state has tried legalizing it several times. But the majority of the population didn't want it, and voted against it.

Oregon was the first to decriminalize for recreational use.

That is a pretty large claim. How will the legalization of marijuana kill millions?

It won't, but he's saying BasketCase thinks it will, because he's BasketCase.

California not being the first one to decriminalize cannibis for recreational purposes.

They're voting to legalize it, not decriminalize it, there's a difference. They already have decriminalized it, as have several other states.

Excellent, now we just need Washington to do this then we can revolt and be The Pacific Republic, or be semi-autonomous

I hope this passes, only because the law is asinine and pretty much unenforceable (How are you going to regulate its cultivation and ensure that people don't smoke it in the presence of minors?). It'll just be another notch in the cap of the long list of referendums in California gone bad.

Oregon was the first to decriminalize for recreational use.

These are for Medicinal purposes, and only applied for patients suffering from some kind of an ailment. They did, as many other states, lower the penalty of possessing at around one ounce - or less - of weed to a class C misdemeanor like Oregon. This only apply to people who are not using it for medicinal purposes. In a way there are two different laws placed for different reasons.

But yeah, I meant to say legalize marijuana for medicinal and recreational purposes instead of decriminalization. My bad.

Some people are trying to get that on the ballot here this year, so keep your eyes and your ears open.

Outlaw pot growers fear legalization

The fact that some growers DON'T want this to pass should tell people which side is benefitting most from the war on drugs. I hope the majority of them would still rather sacrifice some profit for the freedom to do what they do without the spectre of jail always hanging over their head.

Hippieland has the possibility completion this year :king:

Yeah Oregon has the "Oregon Cannabis Tax Act" up for voting this year...pretty much the same type of law they're trying to enact in Cali.

What is so great about Marijuana? It has 4 times the tar of a cigarette, and many the same cancer causing agents. Becides, when was the last time you met a reliable person who has smoked dope?
