Well, on the bottom of every page is a "Chat Room" link. Go to room #turnchat

Aha! I don't think I've ever actually been to the bottom of the page yet. :D

Or you can download mIRC from www.mirc.com.

Once you install it, connect to /server irc-chat.net. Once youre connected, type in /join #turnchat and boom, your in :D

I appologize for being pushy here but I still dont know when this turnchat is going to take place. This will be my first demogame and I would like to be there when it begins. Could someone please tell me what time this is going to be in Central Standard Time. I unfortunately am truly awful at translating one time zone to another.

Giving each and every citizen the best possible information that they need to participate fully in the game is no imposition at all! :D

The chat is at 1 PM Mountain Standard, so that equals 2 PM Central Standard. If you're there at 2PM your time and nothing seems to be happening, then your locality is on daylight savings time, and you're an hour early. Many people arrive a little early so you should see some activity well ahead of schedule, and you can always ask the people in the room what time it is in the reference timezone (Arizona this term). Someone will be there who knows how to convert their local time into the reference time.

Also if you have trouble getting in, you can post here and I'll be watching the thread, and can try to get someone connected with you via PM or other method that you specify, to help with getting in the chat room.

Ministry of War instructions:

Since we do not know of the lay of the land yet, this is the requested beginning of the game queue for our beginnings. I will send this to the governors office for approval as well.

Good Terrain:
First 2 warriors explore, 3rd waits to escort next settler.

Decent terrain:
First 2 warriors explore, 3rd is garrison

Bad terrain:
First 2 warriors explore, 3rd waits to escort settler.

Also, we will open any goody huts that we find near our territory, at least for this TC.

OK, Bobby Lee. I'm in Southern California. That means my clocks are 2 hours earlier than yours. At this time, I'm showing approximately 5:50am. Your page should show this post at 7:50am.

Now, the PDT West coast of the US is GMT-8 hours. You in Texas CDT are GMT-6 hours.

So when you see the Turn Chat posted as 2000 GMT (8pm), you would subtract 6 hours, making it 1400 CDT (2pm) your time.

Whatever the GMT time is, subtract 6 and convert it to civilian time.

I was under the impression that the creation chat ended before even founding the first city, so that could be done by the people voting for a location. So I don't think we need any military orders. ;)

yes epimethius all we do is set the game up, also this isnt a discussion thread...

Thank you Daveshack and Cyc! I appreciate it. And also thank you very much for clarifying how to convert the time for me as well. Hopefully in the future I will be able to this myself. Thank You.

I am truly happy to find our leadership here to be born from the type of statesmen I truly love to see. The kind who will help even the most minor of citizens with thier problems even if that problem be slightly stupid. Hail Japanatica!

I unfortunately will not be able to attend due to real life commitments. (I'm playing D&D;)). I am glad to see the game starting. Good luck. :)

Hey, I've got a problem using tc. I can get the chat window open, but the window is too small and I can't see the buttons or the line to input text at the bottom. The window can't be resized, so I'm stuck. Any suggestions, or am I just boned?

Download mIRC or set your screen resolution.

IGNORE. I finally got in. Missed almost the whole thing though. But at least I got to witness the sterling discussion of adjectives and nouns!

I got that fixed. It was font size. Now my problem is it won't let me join turnchat channel. It says it requires a secure something or other.

"Cannot join channel. Channel allows secure clients only. (+S)"

There were a few problems getting the game started correctly. If you downloaded a save where we started on plains with cows, this is not the correct save. The new (correct) save is
here

Dave

Good Call and congrats with kicking off the ball :).

Adter all estimates, southeast seems to be the most promising city base, having both foodplains, forest, access to river and hills for the long term.
I will post my instructions on time.
