The hardest thing I've ever done was to leave my childhood religon. I was born and raised mormon in Salt Lake City Utah. My entire life I was brainwashed that I was in the One True Church of God. The mormon religon had great hold over my life, thoughts, emotions etc... Breaking free of this mental/emotional stangle hold and realising that the church was nothing but a farce was the hardest thing I've ever done. I began seriously doubting my religon at age 14 then followed 3 years of stuggle to determine what was true and what wasn't. By the time I was 17 I was finnally able to accept the fact that the church was a load of bull. It was the hardest thing I've ever done, but also the most rewarding.

Hardest thing I've ever done was to give up the chance to share an apartment with 4 Filipina nurses back then in Singapore. 
I would've been the only guy, and the landlady initially had reservations but thought I looked like the decent, respectable type. (Little did she know groucho if I had stayed I'd be sleeping with one of the girls 6 months top) Anyway I wrestled with the idea for days and finally thought about the nightmare of having to wait hours to use the toilet, never able to watch football, etc. etc. and backed out. Logic triumphed over lust.

The work level in the latter half of my Animation BA got a bit tricky.
Many essays and development documents to hand in, as well as dope sheets and story-boards.
I would say it is the most written work I have done ever.

Actually, it's because of WWII. There were many destroyed buildings, so when De Gaulle created the temporary government, he started thinking of a way to restart quickly building the country.
In February 1945, he asked all French to contribute by making some concrete blocks to be used in the reconstruction.
It wasn't a law, but many people found it patriotic, and just decided to do it. And now, we are used to it.
