If it was easy, I wouldn't ask I really need names for every counties, even if you just split large lists of dutch scientific/military leaders.

Walloon? What is that? I never heard about Walloons or Wallonia. Does it exist?

BTW, you should add the County of Loon (Looz in French). It looked like the present-day Belgian province of Limburg before it was integrated into the Principalty of Liège.

@Lares : I didn't think about Burgondy, but it could be a nice addition. The problem is Burgondy doesn't appear on the map. And if I want it to appear, I should include half France ! I need to find a solution

MistyArosol the balloon, I like the cow story. For the oil, why not just add oil to whatever terrain type you want to use it on (in editor go to terrain types and flag oil)? Oil just doesn't come up on desert terrain in reality, but putting desert islands up north would really hurt the authenticity of your map I think. Why not use tundra or marsh for oil? Anyways, when you're done I'll give your mod a go if the map size is not too big and try out the cow war.

The ancient duchy of Brabant included dutch province of Northern Brabant and belgian provinces of Antwerpen, Vlaams Brabant and Brabant Wallon. Brussels was one of the most important cities of that duchy. It also was the capital of the belgian province of Brabant before it was split between Flanders and Wallonia.

Please everybody, keep in mind I don't care about nowadays provinces but only feudal counties, duchies,.. en zo voort. As en example, Hasselt is in Provincie Limburg and Floreffe in the Province de Namur, but both belonged to the Principalty of Liège. But the city of Limbourg, which gave its name to the county, is now in the Province de Liège

Belgium and actual Netherlands were integrated to the Netherlands (de Nederlanden) in the Middle-Ages. When the Nothern Netherlands proclamed their independance, they became the United Provinces (de Verenigde Pronvincies, les Provinces-Unies) while Belgium where called the Spanish Netherlands.

So it's normal that Brussels is the capital of the Couty of Brabant because it was a part of the Netherlands

I verified, the first capital city of the Duchy of Brabant was LEUVEN ! And it seems like it still was in the XIII. So, I'll take Leuven as the capital of Brabant in my mod.

Isn't Leuven the capital of Vlaams-Brabant right now, too?

here's a view of the mod I'm making. The map is wider, including more France and parts of England.


Please notice that ancient counties/duchies/... don't fit nowadays provinces !!!!!
Some people were nice enough to give me city list for provinces but it's totally useless to me as far as a city could be in the ancient Principalty of Liège while being in nowaday Provinces of Namur, Limbourg or Luxembourg ! If you want to help me, please keep in mind feudal borders

So, what do I need ? Informations about each of these ancient feudal countries :

I thought you might find this map useful to place resources on your map.

You might like to use the original Dutch names for nearly all of the towns instead of English or French. Even Calais (Kales) and Dunkerque (Duinkerke) were areas where Dutch was spoken in the 1500's.

In the mod, every city will have its original name, in the language inhabitants spoke in that time : Lille, Gent, Namur, Den Haag, Tournai, Brussel,... except for walloons cities that will have french names instead of walloon ones ( Namur, Liège,... and not Nameûr, Lîdje,... ) I used english names on this post so that everybody knows wan understand.

The military/ scientific leaders, do they have to be about a certain period in time too?

City list might be hard, but I think that a list of the big cities of nowadays should do, right? But in the specific feudal countries of course.

Yes, you understood the point. Nowadays cities will be allright. Very few cities were founded ater 1500.
