I've had too many power issues I want to count over the years fry a mother board or something else on a computer. A good regulating UPS system for about $100 was the best investment I have ever made. Keeps a steady reliable source of power coming in and automatically shuts down if there is a problem. Just food for thought. Good luck Oob ... I feel for your trouble. :goodjob:
 
Okay well the server is getting an upgrade (new mobo and CPU). So after a lot of money wasted it should be up and running this weekend, but given how things have gone so far I'm not feeling as optimistic about that as I should be.

Good thing I got a raise recently.
 
Server has been upgraded... it needs the RAM that I left at home today (whoops), so I'll bring that in tomorrow. If all goes well the machine will be working tomorrow.

Once I get the green light, I'll put a message on this thread and send out an email to get everyone to contact me, as it's been a while and I'm guessing a few people will have gone missing. Once I've heard back from everyone (and replaced those that I don't hear back from) I'll start the server back up... I'll give people a few days to contact me first.

Of course, feel free to PM or email me now if you like and I'll check you off the list. Please tell me: your contact email, your name on the forum, your name in the game (as it was when the server died), and which leader you're using.

By the way, I won't be continuing the game myself (will look for a replacement when the server is confirmed operational), but I'll leave it up for the rest of you of course, I use the server for other things as well, so it's no bother.

Bad news: my server continues to fail, even with a brand new mobo, CPU and RAM no display comes up (nor does it make any of the noises which imply that it's managed to boot), even after we tried replacing the power supply and screen. It defies all logic and reason.

On monday I'll take it to a computer repair place.

I practically already have bought a new server. In the last two months I've bought a new motherboard, new RAM, new CPU, and a new power supply. The computer isn't even getting into the bios, so the problem can't be any of the other parts.

So in other words, every part which could possibly be causing this problem has been replaced, yet the problem remains :wallbash: The hardware guy at my work, who fixes computers as part of his job, is just as stumped as I am.
 
Good news: the computer now actually boots up :)

I'll make an attempt to get the server going this weekend, but there may be some issues with the hardware changes (particularly the motherboard), so no promises. Once I actually get the server going, it'll be a few days before I actually get pitboss back up, as I'll want to hear back from the players first (except for those I heard back from recently).
 
I am up for resumption whenever you are ready. Thanks for your perserverence; our patience is a much lighter burden to bear. ;)

The server is now operational :). I got Oyzar to try connecting just to be sure, went without a hitch.

I still have a few things I want to do on the server first, but now the only bottleneck is that I want to hear back from everyone before I bring the game back up, as chances are a person or two will have gone missing. Also I've decided to quit the game (as a player, not as the host) so I'll need a replacement.

In addition to this post I've sent out an email. I'm giving everyone most of two days to contact me, preferably by PM, but alternatively by email or posting in this thread. When you do so, please give me your name on the forum, your name in the game and your leader in the game.

I've already heard back (recently enough) from:

If anyone has a problem with Elkad taking over for me, let me know before the game starts. If no one objects before then, he'll be taking my place.
