A Phoenix rises from the ashes after all. Some nations only have one chance at glory, others have many

Too bad you like ripping off Dragons instead of Phoenixs, huh?

Dragons never die darkening, they simply hibernate and wait for a time to rise once more :p And if things go well, you have woken the Dragon. The more then 400 million people living in China doesn't hurt either ;)

EDIT: This shall be my last post till the update :D

Update 4
Year 1818

captured_eagle.jpg

Non Military Events:

The Chinese in light of the current occupation of lands to the north increases trade by opening up many port cities to the European powers. Such as Spain, Portugal, France and the Dutch. Which creates a new center of economy for them. The military is completely re-organized by the Emperor, new uniforms and training exercises are instituted at great cost to himself. He felt it was necessary to defend China from any threat. Including Japan. Along with this the great walled projects being built over the past years has been partially completed. Along the coastline and around some of the larger cities, modern fort and walls arose. Intimidating to all. As in some places walls are as thick as eighty feet. The capital is temporally moved to Chengdu in the center of China and far away from any current threat. It is also announced that Opium will be banned in China and all trade goods will be exchanged for European weapons. As with the invasion and fear of losing the industry they so desire. Industrial moves are instructed and a large portion of industry is moved around the new capital and in other cities inland. The legal end of foot binding in hopes that all Chinese citizens will be able to join the work force to make China a great power once again. Anti- Japanese propaganda campaigns are triumphant in making the population hate the Japanese. Which wasn’t to hard to do as they were invading.

In Portugal, things are happy however. The Empire is flourishing into the greatest of Europe. Colonies spreading like wild fire and the military is of excellent quality. Queen Maria I of Portugal dies and her Son, now King John VI takes the throne. His rule is very welcomed but the great queen is remembered by everyone as cheers of her reign echo the streets of Lisbon. The New Kings main priority was to hold the colonial Empire together and expand the one he already holds. All of which work quite well. The African colonies expand vastly and Portugal becomes perhaps the greatest Colonial Empire in the world. Matched only by England and France.

The Dutch also experience wide expansions across the globe these year. Mainly in Indonesia where the expansion of the rubber tree plant in Borneo has worked quite well. Creating a new center of trade for them. As well has bringing a lot of new wealthy Dutch families here to own large plantations and further their wealth. Back home the continuation of their neutrality bring them great wealth as well. The Country is becoming the richest one in Europe.

Onto the French, a new sewer system is put in place. Which greatly cuts down on disease in most of the populated areas. Though rural areas have yet to see this technology. They also continue the free school systems of which in the past couple of years has grown. A reading aptitude test is given to ensure the education of the students in the lower schools. It works but it is proven to find out that most of the students in said schools are not as educated as children in the higher up schools. With Peace from the short war against Britain, new territories fall into French hands and many soldiers and civilians go to these colonies to work into the wealth the British had acquired from the territories for decades. The continuation of the Republican Society project, which was one of cleansing and bringing the government closer together. Has finally come into light. Making the government stronger as well as increasing the strong culture of the French peoples.

The Holy Unified Republic of Italy goes about the peaceful expansion of its colonies as well as the creation of a new portion of the army. The Swiss Guard, a fighting force blessed by the Pope himself. Their duty is to defend the Italian Peninsula from any invasion, and their high training and religion keeps them fighting on and on. Some say during training they go hours and hours without breaks. This along with the expansion of the naval forces comes just in time some might say. (see military events)

In the United Kingdom things go quite nice for a post war defeat. Though the British look at is as Victory they defeated the French before an invasion force could even touch England herself. With this the attitude changes to India. Conflict rises as the rebellions continue to spread. And with the help of the Islamic Confederacy. (see spotlight) In Australia Expansion continues to race the Dutch. A new colony is setup in the north of the south island of New Zealand.

The Greater Baltic Union also starts a new training program to train specialist marines soldiers to fight for the armed forces. With recent victories in Germany the armed forces seem to gain a lot of volunteers. The acquisition of German lands and industry increase economy greatly.

Russia also increases its industrial power by building factories further in the Empire. It works out and the Empire is flourishing.

The Ottomans with war on the horizon largely stop the bettering of the country momentarily. As they fully mobilize and raise an army and navy great enough to challenge the British.

Mysore calls for a jihad against the British. It works. The volunteer rates soar and large amounts of young men join factories to supply the factories to fuel the war machine. This Jihad gets the India Princes who the British try to buy out on the side of Mysore. And so the great Indian war begins at last.

In Japan, the Shogun makes a public statement about the true cause of the war. The Emperor of China made a threat to him, that if he didn’t surrender his lands and power to China he would be forced to. This of course only boosts the home morale of the Japanese as they feel the war is of great importance to their safety and praise the Shogun.

In Canada the mistakes of the previous year are hard felt, but the war continues. New volunteers pour into the armed forces as the second wave is built up. Factories expand as weapons are being built at full capacity.

As with the previous years. The Louisianan Empire continues to gain immigrants. As it becomes the premiere nation in the world. Most notably are the influx of Germans from Europe. Which includes many volunteers to the Legion. All war veterans. Great economy reforms are begun, as programs to expand the industry all over the country begin.

Military Events:

On terms of military events, non perhaps are as great as the European theater. The British had signed for peace and so to did the German Kaiser. But the German people had other things in mind. A large resistance force formed around the remaining bits of the German army, and they soon take over Germany. The Kaiser has been killed as a failure to the Germans, during the military coup. As Napoleon lowered his guard and dropped the troops numbers in Germany they struck. Napoleon himself was in Germany at this time preparing to head back to Paris and then onto Italy. Something he nor his escorts saw coming was the German assassins. Many attempts on his life were made and eventually he was fatally wounded as he attempted to flee across the Rhine. This death created large numbers of German militia to fight the small French forces back out of Germany. A new division of the army was created. The Old Guard. Fanatic warriors of the German Reich. Veterans of the invasion and some of the best leaders in Germany. The war was not lost for Germany. The war had just begun. The French forces fled to the large armies of Germany that seemed to keep getting larger. The population fully supported and fed the fight for Germany. The French soon found themselves pushed back to the Rhine and even in some parts across the Rhine. Mainly south of Holland. News of Napoleons death at the hand of Germans enraged the French and they sent a counter attack. But at the same time they began their invasion of Italy, which proved to be a mistake.( see other military events) To further the issues the Russians were coming in to claim lands they got from the treaty. Only to be met and repulsed by the Germans. The casualties were high as the Germans outnumbered and outgunned the Russian forces sent in. The news soon spread to Russia where the peasants and some of the military found it unworkable to turn on a ally and then kick them while they are down. Small rebellions fueled by Germans some say, erupted over western Russia. To add to this the Greater Baltic Union as it is now called. Sent a counter attack against the Germans at Warsaw and lost outright. The Germans seemed unstoppable. The Scandinavians now began to doubt the war efforts. The Germans continue to push against the French who have split there forces all across the globe. They do manage to stop them at the Rhine by destroying bridges but the Germans cross south of Holland. Will the Germans run out of steam or will the Reich return to greatness.

To make things worse, the Italian campaign of Frances began shortly after the large attacks by Germany. Rerouting forces from the Invasion force to fight them. Now in Africa and Australia the Italians lost all the holdings they had to the French armies and navies in the area. Little could be done about this. But in Italy it self. A half hearted naval invasion south of Rome was forced to retreat by the new larger Italian navy. The French changed plans when they saw the Italians had not left for far east expeditions like thought. The French crossed the border into Italy in the north with some early success. Until the Swiss Guard arrived and held them back. The regular Italian army followed soon after. Stopping the invasion completely. Pushing then into France and taking Marseilles, and continuing to fight the French in the south. The naval war continued quite nicely. Though the Italians lost all colonial holdings they have not lost any of the Home Land. The pope calls for an army to be risen. And one is risen, they fight the French with equal numbers in the South of France. The French made the error of moving forces around and letting their guard down on two fronts. The navy is dispatched from Sardinia with a small invasion force and captures Corsica. The French are on a losing battle due to over stretching. Only time will tell if they can fight it back.

A military occupation of China as history has shown tends to be extremely difficult. The Japanese try though and with the early successes of the war they found themselves in a rough position. The Chinese armies had largely been unaffected by the invasion and was now routed north to push the invaders back. Not to mention the millions of unhappy Chinese civilians who were being forced to feed and even on some occasion join the Japanese Imperial Army. They began to fight back. And the numbers proved to much for the Japanese. So they set fire to the city of Beijing and little could be done to stop it. The city burned for weeks as every last building burnt down. Save the Forbidden Palace of which took damage but survived in the end, and was the savoir of many Chinese families. This further enraged the civilians and gruesome battles waged between the Japanese soldiers and the average Chinese peasant. Many civilians were killed during this bloody phase of the occupation. The month following the newly trained ,organized and equipped Chinese army arrived. In odds that would make any army tremble before them. The Japanese did not stick around to find out the odds of survival and retreated out of Manchuria and to the coast lines. In Korea they were pushed back and fought to defend the area. The Japanese burned cities as they retreated. Pillaging anything of worth. The Confucian people just got angrier and angrier. Until the Korean Campaign began to fall down on the Japanese. The people rose up in the areas and murdered Japanese soldiers. Not just killing but also torture and humiliating amputations. Which is considered payment for trying to steal the next generation of Chinese people. The large armies of the Chinese recently trained with new tactics in mind and sporting better organized divisions and officers of rank. Easily fought back the Japanese in Manchuria and Korea. The battle waged on into Winter months when it bogged down somewhat. The Japanese began upgrading the higher trained divisions with rifled muskets of which they had purchased. This helped a little. Helping to increase the casualty count of the Chinese and hold them back at current lines for over a month now. The Japanese continue to bring I supplies and new soldiers to reinforce areas but the civilian population plus the armies of China are giving them a hard time. As the Chinese armies continue to push forward the Japanese can only hope for another Divine Wind to save them.

The Louisianan Empire and Canada had openly declared war and invaded the English Alliance the year before to great success. And with the beginning of this year the remaining forces of the Democratic Republic of America were stomped out by fierce and ruthless Louisianan campaigns. The New Englander Federation put up a stronger fight however. And the Canadians fought horrible trench wars in the north. Losing many men. But once the Louisianan forces finished off the American armies they attacked in full force NEF and the liens were broke on both fronts. Pushing them back to the sea and then finally to surrender. The Battles was hard fought. Now the French Entente controls North America. But this wasn’t the only part of the war to talk about. In the south Mexico begged to be invaded. The economy and industry was booming and it was very limited in military power. Luckily for the Louisianan Empire, Mexico decided to declare was on Yucatan and Guatemala to unite central America. They had great successes in these invasions and gained lots of lands. But the Louisianan’s also invaded them. And with the armies away from home and being outnumbered and out gunned. The Imperial army had been upgrading to rifled muskets all year. The invasion was broken down into many parts. Two sea invasions which destroyed the Mexican navy. And an overland invasion. All of which went off without so much as a miss fired musket. Well maybe a few they aren’t that reliable. The Mexicans began a draft and mass conscription. Which held the Louisianan forces out of the capital city. And a large surrounding area. The main Mexican armies were still in the south and so largely escaped the wrath of the Imperials. Until next time, eh old chaps.

Spotlight:

The Indian War

“Sub lal hoge hai” - Tipu Sultan

The situation in India and the Middle East began to go downhill after the rebellions began in India in 1817. The Islamic nations of the region formed a huge alliance against the British and Mysore called for Jihad which was answered by the people. The Indian Princes rose up in rebellion around this time and continued to fight the British as they fought the armies of Mysore, Punjab, Afghanistan and the Ottoman Empire. The war was declared and Mysore and Britain were in a slug fest over India and the Ottomans went after Persia on the road to India. The Afghanis and Punjab’s invaded as part of agreement. Afghanistan gaining large portions of Persia where the British were least prepared for a large assault. The ran out of steam though once the conscripts ran into the real British power in the south. The Ottomans captured some of Persia but lack of supplies and a few key mistakes kept them largely out of the war. Back in the Balkans rebels took the lowered garrisons as a sign to rise up. Rebellions rose all across these areas. There was little the Ottomans could do about it.

Punjab and Sindh fought it out as well wit ha little help from the Afghanis. Punjab launched a full scale invasion of British India as well as there helpers in Sindh. It worked as Sindh didn’t have the resource they did. But the British fought back with ease as the Punjab armies were not as advanced nor as well trained. And the battle for North India was at a stalemate in British favor I must add.

The Ottomans then tried a naval war but with limited supplies and being out trained by sea they lost and turned for home. The British then has all the open sea she needed to bombard the Mysore armies on land. But Mysore raised more soldiers than the British thought. The British indeed had 200,000 men for the Campaign. But Mysore had gotten over 400,000 volunteers for the Jihad alone. Which combined with there armies and the attack in the north by Punjab was enough for the war to be in the favor of Mysore for the early part. The British used several advanced tactics but most failed. Like sailig nup river to cut off Mysore troops supplies. This was easily stopped by the over whelming amounts of Jihad soldiers. But the blockade of Mysore was unstoppable. Mysore did not need help from the sea it had all the resources it needed at home. And a Million man army to back it up. The British might have had the tech advantage in several battles which they won but the amount of soldiers flooding on their positions caused fall backs to the north. The rebels against the British joined the Mysore push north and large amounts of land was gained. Rebels in the populated areas of the east/north rebelled as well. The British have not yet lost but India is eyeing for independence from her rule. Mysore seems to have the hearts of the people. By purging the lands they gain of all signs of Britain and destroying churches and the like, the great Jihad for India seems unstoppable. Everyday the violence grows greater as India becomes a war zone of no return.

To British Scum
From Empire of Greater Mysore

Your forces are defeated, nothing can stop us and our Punjabi, Ottoman, and Afghan allies now. You will lose India and we will kill all your soldiers. Withdraw immedatley, India will have its independnece.

Gee, France sure looks a bit different from when I planned to grab it. Not that I'm backing down for that... but a lot more disconcerting is if IP doesn't stay as GBU. I think I can play France just fine, but I'd really need someone to back me up, and preferably someone who's been in on it from the start.

I'll take France if someone plays the GBU. Or I'll take the GBU if someone would rather play France.

Sorry, dont have AIM at the moment. Just send a PM.

Hmm. I'll consider taking France, now that ITNES is winding down. If that's ok with you, Niklas.
Sure, if you want it then take it. I'll take the GBU then, will probably suit me better in any case. :)

Ok, sorry for not sending orders as Russia but like I said in ITNES thread...I've been going through pure hell. I'll take another try at this NES though.
