The Academy: The Sith Lords

I could try to GM something like this again next summer if I have an assistant. Stay tuned to this thread for updates on a possible sequel and what being an assistant might entail.
 
My thoughts are that if we get a few GMs, we could add more complexity to the game and make it larger (like what IOT did.)

Should I/we continue to post ideas in here, or should we start an "Academy Development Thread"? At the moment I'm slightly leaning towards the former.

By limiting certain options to certain round and even the number of options for certain rounds, you can really ramp up the paranoia. So I have an idea...or rather, have had an idea since a couple weeks after signing up for this.

What if this was a persistent world? What if the actions from one game with this ruleset carried over into the next? Playing too much Myst makes me think that such a game would be a lot of fun. Letting players have creative input in certain stages could create a cool storyline that informs just about anything: victory conditions, exploration, communication between players, and tons of other stuff.

The Myst version of the game would be this: The players create their own civilization based on writing books to other worlds called Ages. They form their own guilds depending on what kind of goals they have and what kind of books they want to write. A GM decides how many resources are available from these worlds. The guilds receive an income from visitors who use the books, including other players. Over time, a shared universe is slowly created, with places to visit, explore, and hold meetings in. RPG-like adventures could be played within Ages and in the main world to solve puzzles, uncover new secrets, and add to the storyline(s). NPC Elders and Patrons can support the players and give them different abilities and victory conditions. Such NPCs could be killed or removed from the game to shake things up.

The Academy ruleset of intrigue comes in when players want to bump off other players. Outright murder can be a handy tool, but it can also be too obvious in the eyes of others. Devious players might write Prison Books that trap other players in a dimensional void instead of a world. Of course, books can be placed within Ages as well.

That's a very vague sketch. If anyone is interested in playing or assisting, I might able to run this game.
 
Thats very confusing. I dont think i would join such a game. seems VERY complicated, and will probably take a while to get to the best part.

I have started a similar one, but it has not started yet, and probably wont for at least a few weeks. A lnk is either on this page or the last.

If you could pull this off, it would be one of the most epic games to ever enter forum games.
