Hmm. I wonder if that far in the future they mastered cloning + brain transplant. (With the rationalization that it's horribly expensive and/or kept Top Secret from the worker drones.) Every 10 years Fearless Leader transfers his brain to a fresh clone. To the outside world he looks immortal. (Always good for PR.)

That would make this the first Civ that has an explanation for why a faction/civilization has the same ONE leader being in office literally for centuries.

This reminds me of flash-cloning in the EvE universe. Except you have multiple clones alive in one time.

An alternative would be Ghost in the Shell-style cyberbrains, then just copy the cyberbrain or some ghost to another brain / body.

After the first few playthroughs, you'll have seen all the affinity/faction combinations, and it will cease to be novel or interesting. I don't see the point of a leader screen unless there's some kind of player-controlled customization.

That kind of "I don't want it so I don't want anyone else to have it" attitude is logically flawed at best and outright dickish at worst. It would take some time to do but I feel, as do many others, that the added immersion and visual feedback of your decisions would be well worth the time it would take to make it. Hell, you might even already be able to do it, Will Miller seems like the sort to be up for something that lets you visually see how humanity has developed. Given the themes of the rest of the game.

Let's not imply people are dickish just for having opinions. If Arioch doesn't see a point to having a feature like this, that's his right.

Anyway I've been a huge advocate of this sort of feature for sometime. It's just one of those little things that ought to be there since these leaders are basically the personifications of their respective factions. It should just be a click away for those who want to check in on how the average citizen of their faction probably looks.

I think a A Space Ostrich was taking issue with how Arioch delivered what A Space Ostrich perceived as blanket self-projection statements placed upon other Civ Fanatics. As such he was not saying Aurioch was dick-ish, instead he seemed to take issue with Aurioch's subjective self-projection objectively onto other Civ Fanatics.

remember to ask in the next livestream :D i would but there's a 99.999999 percent i'll miss it

I didn't used soldier customization In XCOM and prolly not use leader customization. Still I don't think making one's own faction leader visible wouldn't cost much resources and fully agree with that should be included.

Even if we couldn't get a leader customization screen like the throne room of old, I would still love to see my leader
even in a save or loading screen that would represent his current affinity level.
EDIT: Also accompanied with some quotes of him/her.

Apparently there is no feature that enables you to see your leader. At least that's what I can tell from the previews we have seen.

This is a "nice to have" idea that I personally would not want Firaxis to divert resource to include at the expense of pre-release balancing and post-release bug squashing.

I hate this kind of answer. Is not like the guy who is gonna put your leader look in the loading screen/civilopedia/diplomacy screen/wherever they put it its gonna be the same one who goes deep code search for the bugs

It's someone who could be doing something else for the company. It's using resources that won't go elsewhere.

It actually would be immersion-breaking to me to see my "leader"... because I'm the leader. If I'm playing ARC, there's no Suzanne Fielding, there's me.

Any more immersion breaking than seeing the same leader over a colony for hundreds of years (forget aging, no elections/power plays)

Think of them as an adviser/representative.

The main thing is the artwork is in place... you just need a way for the diplomacy screen to come and pull up Your civ instead of the other one.

The big benefit would be something that Civ has lost with discarding the Throne room, palace, advisers with pictures/animation, and end game movies/replays... a way to summarize your progress in the game graphically.

If you could at least see the leader afinity progression in the endscreen unlock a gallery in game, or online, or a f-ing imgur link to check how you looked but nope, you'll have to rely on the ai surviving till the very end and if you were (un)lucky enough to have all the civs surviving to max affinity and all of them picking a different one each time it'd still take you at least 6 games. It just doesnt make sense that ypu cant see yourself at all

Personally i find it the oposite. Being myself there is immersion breaking for me.

I understand why people generally want to see themselves to track their progress. But if your issue is really that you don't want to go through the trouble of playing a bunch of games before seeing all the character/affinity level combinations, then just search for pics online. It'd be ridiculous if the game actually rewarded you by giving you a link to an external website.

Of course that wasnt serious but its nonetheless stupid to not allow to see yourself.

My vote: every faction builds a massive statue of their founding Leader in the Capital and by zooming in you can see it in all its glory - changing with Affinity level of course.

They've clearly got enough mans that they could spare on or two to add things like this and strategic view (provided the groundwork is already layed. That said. It's not a deal breaker for me. Just a, I wish, feature.
