Just read this thread. Refershing to see someone attempting high levels with an early cottage economy since other top players (Mutineer, Acid, etc) seem to have a different play style.

Incredible game so far. Keep it up and get Alex of the island.

Ok, this may seem a bit crazy. I think Alex is 1-2 turns from Rifles and my cavs are going to get slaughtered here unless I do something crazy. So I trade Chemistry for all of Alex's gold. Now not only does he have no money for upgrades but if he does choose to upgrade, he will upgrade to grenadiers instead of rifles.



Time to die!



Well, I guess he had another extra 500 gold in a super secret treasury because he's already upgraded to grenadiers.



Anyway... cavs destroy grenadiers so it is fine.



Wang is still at war with Alex so he's digging me.




I take Sparta next and it is quite the city. I'll mine those hills and it'll be quite the powerhouse.



Some gold for a very old tech.



My +2 GP Colossus gets me a merchant. I save him for later.



Wang sure likes talk. He's offering trades and making demands every dang round.



I take another city from Alex.



I match my Physics scientist with the Merchant for a golden age.



I take the capital.



And ask for temporary peace. War weariness is killing me and diluting the golden age benefits. My units need to heal. I'll take his last two cities next round.

Nice lead in the score. Incredible game. And Sparta is just WOW, WOWOWOWOWOWOW, lots of infrastructure and 5 wonders or so. Keep it up.

I think it made a big difference. I probably would have lost half my attack force if I were facing rifles.

I think Red Peter is my only real adversary. As long as I keep him friendly, he'll stay out of my way and I can take out the other three.

Let's finish off Alex here.



I hate this cumulative war weariness crap. Isn't this expansion named warlords?!



Alex falls quickly so war weariness isn't a factor here anymore.



Red Peter helps me decide which AI is next on my list. No one likes Wang so I'll attack him next.



I have no idea how he is keeping up in tech but I need constitution for infantry.



I revolt to free market and free speech.



I beat Toku's settler by one turn to this little island.

I decide to cancel all my deals with Red Peter in hopes to stifle his tech research.

I always demand their gold before I declare war. Wang is running emancipation which is causing some uproar in my cities.

Good job on the game so far, Pete. I have a request, could you play an immortal domination game next for a non-financial and non-organized civ? It would be interesting to see what kind of economy you would run, whether cottage or specialist based.

yes, i would be interested in that as well. basically, any civ but incans and romans

I don't like using specialists so I usually stick with financial civs.

I was away for a couple weeks so I haven't had a chance to post the rest of the game. I'll put up the next set of screen shots shortly.

I land my first set of troops outside of Seoul. 5 protective rifles but they aren't too heavily promoted.



Red Peter adopts Police State. Who is he planning to attack?





Seoul and Nampo fall with minimal losses.



Toku sends in the Cavalry... well not even cavalry. He sends in the knights to pillage the crap out of Korea. Maybe bringing him into this war was a bad idea.



Bye bye Korea. Toku took a couple of his northern cities and I got his 3 southern ones. Not much of a civilization.



Wow! Red Peter beats me to Industrialism by one turn. How is he keeping up?



I've got him beat decisively in every category.



Oh Well. On with Toku. I can probably take half his land and come away with the win.
