NCSG2-Team 2-Lincoln!

Nothing wrong with barracks. I'd avoid building settlers though, as we've dedicated ourselves to the rush at this point!
GatlingGun:
The way we're planning to do this is to let our slider drop very low but retain income through running library specialists. This is the best way to expand rapidly through the BC years. CoL is still a priority, but at this point, we need to focus on our short term goal.
Good set, though. (Got it!)

Team:
Since we have the settler coming anyway, where should I settle?

I'm back,

Well played Pigswill and GatlingGun.

First of all, Yuck! :yuck: This is a tiny continent for two civ's! Looking at the island were on and the fact that Mehmed only has two cities we may have to wipe him out completley after all! :sad:

I'm not sure what to do with the settler. It depends on whether we are keeping both Mehmeds cities or not. If we plan to raze his sothern city we can use the settler to replace it with one of our already planned sites.

On another note the reason I was away is because I've just signed contracts on a new flat, plan to be moving over the next week or so. I should be able to play my turnsets but I thought I'd better let you know, if it's my turn and I don't post a got it within 24 don't wait just skip me. But, Like I said I should be able to play, and if I can't I'll try and let you know.

schwartz: I'd put a city on the wheat/FP site coz we'll need IW before we can settle down south.

GatlingGun: I was indeed referring to settler (and proposed Oracle build). I shall cite Sisiutil's Guide to the Early Rush in my defence.

My vote is settle in our previously planned western location and burn Erdine...

Assuming you start with turn 101 (and 101 has not been played in the save), stopping at 120 is actually playing 20 turns.

Just letting you all know I'll be out of town over the weekend (till Tuesday). I think I'll have access, but if I don't post within 24, go ahead and skip me.

Cheers,
Aol

GatlingGun:
Typical SG format is to hand off the game with everything done except pressing enter (just in case we want to do any micro with city tiles, specialists, etc..) At this stage it doesn't matter as much, but later on in the game, make sure you ALWAYS save on the even turn.
As I said, no big deal, just wanted to make sure we're all aware of our format :)

Sorry in advance for the lack of screenshots.
1475 BC (0):
Nothing to do but press enter.

1450 BC (1):
Settler -> Axe in capital, settler goes to NW floodplains/wheat spot.
Edirne is on a hill, fortified by 2 archers, and Justinian and Mehmed are both Buddhists (and probably somewhat friendly..)

1425 BC (2):
:coffee:

1400 BC (3):
Boston founded and starts a barracks. No metals there yet, thought about a monument but we're burning Edirne anyway.

1375 BC (4):

1350 BC (5):

1325 BC (6):

1300 BC (7):
Whip axe at NY.

1275 BC (8):
Tech went to CoL without my noticing, switch it to iron working.

1250 BC (9):
Whip axe in capital for 2 pop (it was about to grow through :) cap)

1225 BC (10):
Edirne gets walls :(
So it's on a hill, 3 archers AND 50% defense bonus.. I think we're in some trouble here...

1200 BC (11) - 1100 BC (15):
:sleep:

1075 BC (16) - 1000 BC (19):
We have 11 axes on Mehmed's border, all unpromoted. We're ready to declare within a turn or two at most.
Washington is unhappy for 5 turns because of my :smoke: in letting it grow so fast after applying the whip.
Edirne has 50% wall defense and 1 CGI archer + 2 unpromoted archers inside.
CG archer will have:

3 base strength * (1 + .7 [city] + .25 [fortify] + .25 [hill]) = 3 * 2.2 = 6.6 strength

Others have 3 * 1.95 = 5.85 strength

Here's a power chart:
ncsgiilincoln0002.jpg

Roster:
schwartz -> Just played <-
Groogaroo -> Up now <-
aol -> On deck <-
pigswill -><-
GatlingGun -><-

Notes:

- We need to fix Washington's tiles for hammers after the whip anger goes away (Forgot to do this a couple turns ago so the whip anger wouldn't be a problem...)

- Edirne will probably whip another defender before we get there.

- Boston is almost hooked up to our metal.

- IW is a huge priority to finish as we need to clear the jungle to the south soon.

Hey Guys, I'm going to have to skip. I'm knee deep in removal stuff and desktop has been packed away :cry:.

I still have my laptop, but it doesn't take to Civ4 too well! :sad:

Here's the roster after my skip,

Roster:
schwartz -> Just played <-
Groogaroo SKIPPED
aol -> Up Now <-
pigswill -> On Deck <-
GatlingGun -><-

Sorry about that, by the time my next turnset comes round I should have all this sorted and be able to play again.

I personally think it's a waste of effort to try to destroy a walled opponent on a hill without catapults... I vote for IW -> Construction -> CoL... and hopefully bulb Taoism. I still think we need a religion with the given constraints.

Gone a bit quiet here.

Attacking Edirne is doable but we'd probably lose at least half our stack so it is worth doing? Maybe, maybe not.

If not, what do we do instead? We've certainly got enough axes not to worry about barbs. We could continue expanding south, we'd certainly need IW for that.

Aol is Up?

Aol is Up?

Yeah sorry, its probably my fault for skipping, but also I noticed Aol said he'd be away aswell!

Just letting you all know I'll be out of town over the weekend (till Tuesday). I think I'll have access, but if I don't post within 24, go ahead and skip me.

I guess that means your up Pigswill

I'm still in the process of moving and my desktop is still boxed up! but I should be able to resume normal play from wednesday onwards. I don't have an internet connection yet so I'm limited to checking up when ever I visit an internet cafe.

I'm not too sure where we go from here game wise? I must admit I'm not the most aggressive player so with the walls I would probably go for plan B and take Mehmed out with construction as GatlingGun said, but It depends how you guys feel, you probably have more experience than me when it comes to these kind of attacks.

When I got to Istanbul Mehmed had four archers (hill, walls etc) and I wasn't feeling lucky twice so I opted to pillage all his resources. Istanbul is now up to six archers. Got a couple of axes nearby to discourage workers. Main stack heading back to our territory.

I'm not sure about pottery. I guess I was thinking that once NY and Boston pop their borders there'll be several FPs available for cottages to keep our economy going.

Dotmap got changed with discovery of iron deposits.There's an axe and settler on the new city spot (1N of old city spot).

pigswill:
No cottages variant so that idea isn't for us :p.. so pottery is only for granaries (which are important if we want to :whipped: :D)
On the other hand, each floodplain still supports 1 specialist, which is good enough.
Good set, and I agree with leaving Istanbul, we'll come back with catapults (beeline construction??)

Good play... I'm amazed we have so many CR3 axes... how did that happen? We only destroyed one city, right?

Got it

Gatling:
2 reasons for the CRIII axes.. First, we're charismatic, so we only need 8 experience and I'm 100% sure we got 4 XP from each of those 20% and less fights.
