Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to say thank you for the downloads, and that I'll be soon posting up the next version which will be a complete v.2 which will include:
- New Background
- Spread of Buddhism during Mongol era.
- Spawnable walls in Aleppo

After that, which should be done by the end of the week, we're on to more exciting things with v.3

Version 0.2 in finally released, I hope all of you enjoy this weeks labour, so we can move on to v0.3! ;)

Version 0.2 Features:
- Removed the "Caste System" tech from Non-Hindu civilization, excluding the Sindh, Mughals and Bahmanids (DONE)
- Decayed two wheat and one honey from Northern Syria and Jazaria in 1400, to represent declining populations after Timur's conquest (DONE)
- Added a new hint (DONE)
- Add the Western Wall for a Jewish Holy Shrine to al-Quds (ON HIATUS)
- Change the main menu background (DONE)
- Change the scoring list of leaders (DONE)
- Add new icon for mod (DONE)
- Remove one Sunni Missionary from Ayybuid and Mamluk spawns (DONE)
- Added a spawnable castle in Damascus if controlled by independents or barbarians by 1096 (DONE)
- Added provinces and civilizations that would be more affected by the Black Plauge (DONE)
- Buddhism spreads from 1256-1295 representing its support from the Ilkhanate (only in barb cities), after 1295 Buddhism dies down (DONE)
- Added a spawnable walls in Aleppo if controlled by independents or barbarians by 1096 (DONE)
- Added a new soundtrack (DONE)

Hi Turk!

I was a player of the original SoI, and would appreciate so much your version. But, it seems to have a bug at the init, with that same annoying message:

"GFC Error: failed to initialize the primary control theme"

and then crashes to desktop.

Awaiting hopefully the fix, if possible :D

Yes I will get right on it of course, but its strange, because I have no idea what I could be doing wrong...
But just quickly you downloaded the v0.2 version correct?
And like all good bugs they seem to evade you at first, but they are all manageable! :)
 
Yes, I've downloaded it twice in different methods, to ensure a non-corrupted file. I'm just reporting it as soon as I'm seeing it, just like a good tester does :D

Playing unmodded SoI in the while, good work!

Ok I'm working on it now, I'm going to first download my own mod, and see where I can go from there ;)

EDIT: Ok I downloaded it, and then I unzipped it, and I started it up, and there wasn't a problem. I'm asking someone else to download it though, so perhaps it will work out that way...
Is anybody else having this problem?
 
Do you have somo ideas to change the gameplay?, most of changes so far are rather trivial.

Just wait, v.01 and v.02 were just the beginning, I'm working on v0.3 which will introduce bigger changes. You can look at the first post which I regularly update with new features I will be adding and what I have and have not completed so far. So hang tight!

I love the mod, love the orig too. Thanks for the work. I have the same issue as heitorcccp,
"GFC Error: failed to initialize the primary control theme" I have downloaded it several times now a couple of those dl's resulted in corrupt files, but even when i get a good dl, i get the same error. can you help me figure what the issue is? i have played it before and have no clue as to why its failing to load. Thank you for any help you can give me.

Ok got it to work last nite, because of computer probs i had i am not on my usual computer, so i had to install civ4 on the wifes laptop, so i put mods in and all that but i hadnt reinstalled SOI (orig ver). So last nite i got SOI installed and it ran without issue, and i thought maybe i 'll try and see if ver .1 of SOI Plus will run now, and it did, so i redid ver .2 of SOI plus and it worked as well. So for some reason it dont like not having the Orig SOI installed. Maybe anyone else having this prob just needs to have Orig SOI installed first, tho i cant imagine why one wouldnt work without the other. Anyways wanted to let you know i got it working, And say thanks for responding to my post!

This is what I said to heitorcccp, when he encountered the same problem, so just check to see if any of these tips work, because they helped heitorcccp fix his problem.

Spoiler :

I and a friend of mine have both downloaded, unpacked and played my mod with no problem. Therefore my concern is with your computer then. A few things to remember:
a) Are you sure you placed the folder (not the zip file) in the BtS/Mods folder?
b) Are you using steam?
c) Did you move the SoI Plus Edition Icon to your desktop and try launching it from there?
Overall it should work just like SoI except there is no svn. If you are using my old svn delete it, as it malfunctioned, and needs to be reworked at a later date.

If none of this works, I would seriously consider asking someone of greater knowledge them myself, perhaps a moderator about your issue and they can either help you or point you in the right direction.

I've begun work on an intro video to the mod, which is easy to make and implement, so I think it should be pretty cool! :)
Once its done I'll post it here.

1) A later start; perhaps 1100 or 1300 or anything else.

2) Now this might be hard to implement but if u have the ability to expand the map westwards that would be epic; maybe something that includes the Maghreb, Southern Iberia, Southern Spain and Greece. Now the easy part is that u can import all the civs from RFCE but ofcourse u would need to modify them.
 
does this have all the features of the latest regular soi like hold down ctrl to see province overlay

plus when do you thimk to finish this whole modmodmod, i dont like to download a version with more features every week or two

Yes, as it should say in the first post, everything in SoI, is here, this mod will ALWAYS be up to date with the latest of Embryodead's SoI.
If I were you I would download 0.2, as between you and me v0.3 is a lot more work, and won't come out until at least end of May. So you will have to wait a while for them. I probably will release a mid-patch (a v0.25, if you will), which will include the smaller features of v0.3 and perhaps the new "True Cross" unit and event or the new intro movie (which I've begun working on).

A later start is on the agenda, but I would like to rework the 750AD start first, as there are still some things I would like to change around and add. But definitely a later start will be added. I'm thinking of an "End of the Crusader Era" date, so that we can see a Crusader Rhodes and Cyprus, and a more historical Ayyubid and Mamluk Empire.

You know J.Pride, I would love to do that, but adding all the Maghreb, Southern Spain is over ambitious. I'm considering though just adding Greece and more of Northern Africa, to add a bit more power to the Romans (Byzantines). But already just adding those tiles is already a huge task, and I'm still unsure if I can do it. If someone of 'higher' knowledge could tell me if this operation was possible, I'd be very grateful.

(FYI Maghreb = Western North Africa)
