RFCE++ Beta

Love this mod but how do you start the HRE? I have played as both Germany and Lombardy but nothing. Also when I click a unit there is no sound but it says Illegalsound() (something like that)...

I get the illegal sound thing which is weird. But you have to play for a while, I don't know the start date but around 900-1000 the HRE will form, a green thing will saw The Holy Roman Empire has been formed!

Just saying that whatever Morholt (or the base RFCE team) did, it fixed my very early problem of art not showing up for Arabic and Eastern European nations.

I also have the sound bug, but so far only on Settlers (as Morrocco).

And yes, the HRM will auto-found at a preset date.

Whoops, fixed it for real now.

Did you include the fix in Gamefront download? I don't think you have posted any hotfix here and that file from Gamefront was uploaded 11-16, meaning before your post I am quoting. Could you please clarify the situation, because people say Lombardy UHV 2 still does not work...

Morholt, did we exhausted all the possibilities for speed and memory optimization? This is the only mod I play when I get memory allocation errors -- and I have 3 GB RAM and 1.87GHz dual core Intel CPU. The speed in 1500s is just frustrating ... Plague helps a great deal but still .. Perhaps half of the AI should be allowed to conduct diplomacy every other turn? Or anything else... this long waits between turns just killing all the joy :(

1) You need more RAM
2) You need a 64-bit OS
3) You need a faster CPU

My turn times are blazing fast...

:lol: Good for you! Four years ago my stats where pretty decent and still might count as average today. Naturally mods should address the average stats -- something along the lines with official BTS recommended level...

Actually, a 64 bit OS solves all MAFs (memory allocation fault) even with 3 GB RAM
Firaxis made a huge mistake, and Civ IV cannot even handle more than 2 GBs
There are some workarounds, but it cannot be really solved. MAFs will always appear in 32 bit OS' when you are playing on huge maps and/or graphic heavy mods

32-bit programs can't handle more than 2GB RAM unless they get flagged large address aware then they can handle 3GB 3GB enabled 32-bit OSes and 4GB on 64 bit OSes.

I said the same thing, didn't I? :crazyeye:

... fails to register! :sad:

I am by far the 1st in population in HRE and even 4rd in the entire Europe (after Turkey, France, and England). My 30 years war with France insured she has no single Imperial city. And yet...

Here is the corresponding code:

# Have a larger population than any HRE state in 1648.
if(iGameTurn == xml.i1648AD):
iBohemiaPopulation = pBohemia.getTotalPopulation()
bLargest = True
for iCiv in range(con.iNumPlayers):
if(gc.getHREMembership(iCiv) >= con.iFullMember):
if(gc.getPlayer(iCiv).getTotalPopulation() >= iBohemiaPopulation):
bLargest = False
break
if(bLargest):
pBohemia.setUHV(2,1)
else:
pBohemia.setUHV(2,0)

I feel like gc.getPlayer(iCiv) can be any civ according to this code, but I may be wrong...

No, also you can get MAFs with 64-bit OSes, it just takes longer

Ohh, really?
I wasn't aware of that, you are right then
Are you sure though? I always heard it completely stops all MAFs, at least for Civ IV

Since oases now give 3:food: instead of 2:food:, I think Morocco's tripling of oasis benefits is ridiculously overpowered.

If you change the bonus to double benefit, then oasis on flat desert will give 6:food:,1:hammers:,3:commerce: instead of the current 9:food:,1:hammers:,4:commerce:.

The goal of the UP was exactly to OP the Morrocans while near any oasis.

9 food may seem way, way OPd, but it only allows for a size 4.5 city. Considering most oases are low-food anyway, this dosen't actually make the cities way better. Basically, it just makes certain areas hospitable.

Lombard UHV2 doesn't work for me, I've killed a half dozen of the emperor's units on attack and defense in cities and out.

I got hit by plague as Lombardy which was annoying as you can guess.

I downloaded the file on Monday

I got my Spanish Union as Castille and I was disappointed in the distribution of territory. At the time of the union, Aragon had control of Sardinia, Sicily, and Naples as well as the Eastern half of Iberia. After the union, I only got the territory in Iberia and the Balearic Islands. The two cities in Sardinia went to Genoa (which was my vassal, if that changes anything) The two cities in Naples went to the Kingdom of Italy, and the two cities in Sicily both went indy.

I expected to gain all of that territory as it happened in history. Do unions only give the core areas of one civ to the dominating partner? If this needs to be true for other unions can you make it not so for the Spanish Union?

Hey all, sorry for not posting for so long. I've been in a tight spot balancing studies, work and family. Good news is, I actually have a good as done Beta 2.

alpav and TheFlame8, what civs do you not get any sound with? Or is it with every civ?

Tigranes, you are correct about the Bohemian UHV, cool game by the way. When did you conquer Germany and was it difficult?

Michael Vick, the Spanish Union was actually intentionally coded that way although I don't remember why. I'll change it to affect the entire civ instead.

I'll upload Beta 2 later today.

Great, also what did you think you think of the Spanish + Austrian Union I mentioned earlier?

Another possible union is the Habsburg Inheritance of 1519. Spain + Austria, really the dominant partnership is up for grabs in that situation. I can't really say whether that situation should result in a complete or partial union, though. Also, an annexation would fudge the potential unions for Austria with Bohemia and Hungary in the case that Spain won the annexation. Unless union chances for annexed civs can be transferred to the winners of previous unions. Imagine the possibility to recreate the entire Habsburg empire of the 1500s through diplomacy. That's exciting. :D

Also, now that Aragon is featured (:beer: :thanx:) Spain shouldn't be called Spain until the union with aragon. The civ should be entirely renamed The Castilians. DCNs would be Kingdom of Castille and Leon, then Kingdom of Spain after the union.
