Update 1: 2151 AD
"What a Long Strange Trip.." 20th Century American artist, political activist and possible user of mind altering drugs, Jerome Garcia
Peaceful Matters in 2151
The year began almost immediately with the untimely death of the long reining English King, Edward IX. His daughter ascended to the thrown in the midst of a bombing raid on Nottingham. (see Military Matters in 2151) This "warrior" queen immediately set about attempting to build up the long decayed rail lines stretching throughout England.

The Polska Imperium also seemed to follow this example, building more and more railroad lines leading towards its small Baltic Sea trade corridor. It's tonnage was also increased substantially, putting the Polska Imperium at the fore-front at Baltic Trade, on par with the Novgorod-St. Petersburg Federation. The completion of a newer Trans-Siberian railway on their part, however, gave them an extra boost this year, allowing for massive amounts of raw resources to be brought to St. Petersburg from the Eastern regions.

Tanzania too began building a railroad system, mixed in with some internal mining advancements. The project was originally slated to take two turns, but some of the "Disciples of Raganorak" hastened the work effort, and finished in a year. The increased mining of materials, and new railroads brought in some extra economy for the African state. The state of Zambia was also given free passage to the port of Mtwara, giving the otherwise landlocked nation a port to trade in.

But that's not all. Part of the agreement the Tanzanians and Zambians established was a military alliance, in part to scare away would be conquering European nations, and to also make the Congo think twice about attacking either nation.
Meanwhile in the North Pacific, the Federation of Columbia also held some elections, in the wake of it's recent assault on the Aleutian islands (see Military Matters in 2151). Incumbent John Menchatik, a conservative, squared off with the rising liberal star of Julia Teslin. Teslin, promising universal health care, lower taxes for the middle and lower classes, and increased taxation of the upper class won in a landslide. Meanwhile, pro-war fervor swept the nation.

The United States of Europe also established the worlds first Space Port since the start of the Great Plague in Dakar. While much of the technology in the art of Space flight is old, it is by no means completely forgotten. The port itself is still in the process of being built, therefore any type of space-flight by the USE isn't expected until at least 2153. Technologically, manned Space-flight is still years off. Satellites are another story however. The only fear USE scientists are having in regards to Space Flight is the thought that one of the old rogue Anti-ICBM arrays may think that the ship being sent up is a missile, and shoot it down. Only time will tell.
The Byzantines were also busy building a rail system, extending from Constantinople to the far reaches of Central Asia. From Constantinople through Anatolia the railroad was built without much of a hitch, but it fell short of reaching the outskirts of the Empire this year. The Persian workforce was kept in line by the Byzantine military, while any and all expected troublemakers in the workforce were quickly "set straight".
The Empress' birthday was also celebrated to a great extent this year. Foreign dignitaries, high ranking military officials, and of course members of the royal family were in attendance. The bill for the festivities was massive to say the least, but it was paid for almost in full by money extracted from troublesome rail workers, that seemed to value their life more then their money.
The Byzantines also established a new system of recruitment, giving the Byzantine military a continuous cycle of fresh bodies to train, and arm, should any conflict arise. (+5 Divisions)
In the South Pacific, treaties of friendship between Indonesia and the Indian Empire, and Indonesia and the Oceanic Federation were signed, essentially alienating an already battered Federation of Southeast Asia. (see Military Matters in 2151)
In North America, the grand Socialist Revolution of 47' in the United Syndicalist Communes of America continued it's growth. By now, the whole of the region was under the firm grasp First Citizen Markus Steel, and his associates. Increased trade with both the Shield Republic and the Caribbean community brought some extra jobs to the USCA. Closer ties with the Chita and Patagonia Soviet states were also created.
The Grand Revolution then attempted to spread into the "Fascist" territories of the Unified States of America, and was met with mixed results. (see Military Matters in 2151)
Japan meanwhile patrolled it's borders, and put down several protests to it's rule in Korea. Nothing out of the ordinary however.
