Update Two: It Seems So Like Eternity
100 YR1000 YR
History passes into legend, legend passes into myth, yet the civilized nations of the world live on. 900 years have passed since the earliest encounters between nations, and nothing yet everything has changed
We begin with the northernmost of the civilized realms, Siltoria. The Siltorians have become the best farmers in the entire world, and their outstanding grain yields have greatly boosted their population. (+2 Production economy) While their religion remains vague and somewhat primitive, worship has begun to congeal around a harvest goddess, Varuna, who provides the wealth of Siltoria, and many temples have been constructed to worship her. (+1 Culture) Their cities have been connected with a rudimentary road system and the people have become far more sedentary and metropolitan (-1 Nomadic economy), and trade with the Crospunians to the south, whom they encountered hundreds of years ago, flourishes, with Siltorian wheat traded for foreign metals. Unfortunately, the Siltorians must import nearly all of their metals as the surrounding plains are poor in resources. However, trade with the newly-discovered nations to the north may reduce Siltorian reliance on the metal trade through Crospunia.
South of Siltoria lies a very different nation, Crospunia. While agriculture has been mildly important to the Crospunians, and assimilation of Siltorian agricultural techniques has allowed Crospunian agriculture to flourish (+1 Production economy), Crospunia is first and foremost a trading nation. Far more urbanized than its Siltorian neighbors to the north (-2 Nomadic economy), Crospunia has been propelled into the Bronze Age by knowledge from the south, and Crospunia City has become the primary trading port at the north end of the sea for both bronze and tin, which the Crospunians mine and import from Rixitum, Oeme and points south. (+Crospunia City EC) Unfortunately for Crospunia, they may have reached a limit to their expansion, but their current dominance of the northern regions has stirred great confidence in their leadership. (+1 Confidence), partially contributed to by the patriotic feeling each Crospunian has in completing the current mandatory government service.
The nation of Ixa has pursued an entirely different path of development. Unlike all of their neighbors, Ixa has expanded hardly at all, though the growth of a port city has allowed additional traffic in and out of the nation via the sea. Most traffic in Ixa seems to be out, however, as missionaries pour forth from Ixa in all directions, spreading the religion of the mother goddess Mixa, Yexal. (+1 Culture) Their missionary efforts have met with great success if neighboring Saraza, and with mixed success among the wild peoples to the south and west, though the newly risen nation of Thori consists almost exclusively of adherents to Yexal. The rapid spread of Yexal has quickly led to the rise of Ixafiranj as an important pilgrimage site. (+1 Ixafiranj RC) Additionally, workers from Saraza have brought bronze working to Ixa, where the mountains promise to hold future reserves of tin or copper to make bronze, though the religious and peaceable Ixa have not yet taken advantage of this. Instead, they have invested a great deal of energy into educating their populace, an endeavor not taken on by any other nation. (+1 Education) This may prove to be to Ixas advantage in the future. Finally, the rugged terrain and increased settlement in cities has utterly destroyed the ancient nomadic culture of the Ixa, wrecking havoc on the former nomadic economy. Religious pilgrims brings money to Ixa, but it is only enough to sustain the nation, not grow.
The nation of Moroyo-Gaia is marginally influenced by Ixa culture, but it, too has become a cultural powerhouse, with sod-built temples to Gaia constructed throughout the land. (+1 Culture) Many in the southwest of Moroyo-Gaia have begun to meld the two mother goddesses, however, as they have many similarities, and this is even more pronounced in neighboring Tell. Settling down has allowed the Moroyo-Gaians to develop new agriculture techniques, though these remain somewhat different from those in Siltoria due to geographic disparity. (+1 Production economy). However, the Moroyo-Gaians have also maintained a successful and sustained nomadic community involved in the religious branches of society. The army has also been divided, but the new Infantry of Gaia and Archery of Gaia are different from former divisions in name only.
In a bid to please the people of their nation, Geraun has constructed a large navy to rival that of Saraza. (+1 Confidence) More importantly, Geraun has undergone a massive amount of expansion along the coastline to their south. They have discovered what some have term the end of the world where the coast suddenly turns northwestward from its southwestward tilt. Their settlement of the region, however, has stirred up the native people, who have also established a rudimentary civilization, Kila. Knowledge of Bronze has come to Geraun through trade with Saraza (+Bronze Age), and it has been discovered that the hills of Geraun are rich in tin, prompting what some have termed a Tin Rush to the mountains. This rush has greatly boosted the Geranese economy, though it threatens the old nomadic way of life (+2 Production economy, -1 Nomadic economy).
The people of Ara-Dan have been busy. There, great effort has gone into the construction of the so-called Zenith Pantheon, a massive temple to their gods. Work has been slow, but the effort is already starting to have noticeable effects on the Aradani population. (+1 Culture, +1 Confidence) Much like other nations, Ara-Dan has become more settled and more civilized (-1 Nomadic economy) and also much better at agriculture (+2 Production economy) Given that Ara-Dan has only a tiny outlet to the sea, little sea-based trade has yet sprung up, but Ara-Dan may need to foster such trade in the future, as veins of gold have been discovered in the mountains above their capital, as have great reserves of tin. The people of Ara-Dan do not yet understand what is driving all of the other nations tin-mad, but they likely will shortly.
The old nation of Rixitum is not as trusting as it once was. They have constructed long lines of fortifications along their claimed borders with Crospunia and Saraza, though, surprisingly, not along their border with Moroyo-Gaia. Some of the people of Rixitum approve of this defensiveness (+1 Confidence) while others are highly skeptical of the need, particularly over other needs of the nation. (-1 Confidence) Rixitum has also established a large navy, ostensibly to defend its coastline, though this navy has also contributed to Rixitums strength by sea. Unfortunately, they have had difficulty breaking into the sea trade now dominated by Crospunia and Saraza, though Rixitums ships have made the Inner Sea that much more crowded. Education also flourishes in Rixitum, (+1 Education) and Bronze working has been brought there by Sarazan merchants. (+Bronze Age) Agriculture also flourishes (+1 Production economy) at the expense of the nomadic lifestyle. (-1 Nomadic economy)
The Hosrusian people, after many years of labor and the death of the original God-King, have completed the construction of the God Kings Temple in Nortongrad, making the city a pinnacle of religion in Hosrus. (+Nortongrad religious center) The Bronze Revolution has come to Hosrus from downriver, skipping the nation of Moroyo-Gaia, and copper mining has greatly increased in the mountains of Hosrus. However, tin is scarce in the kingdom, and, like the Bronze Revolution before it, must be imported from downriver. Hosruss dependence on trade from downriver meant that the nation expanded primarily in that direction, but increasing tensions between the theists and the monarchial theocrats, the former of which were concentrated in the north, led to a series of pitched battles, and, eventually, the theists leaving Hosrus for territory downriver. This has hardened the resolve of the remaining people (+1 Confidence) and healed the cultural divide in Hosrus (-Divided Culture), but has also led to the rise of a potential rival on the doorstep of Moroyo-Gaia. Hosrusian explorers have also encountered the strange Zhiran people to their south and far upriver.
Finally, the small nation of Zhiro has appeared at the very edge of civilization. Currently known only to the Hosrusians, the Zhirans are primarily coppersmiths and wile away their time making wonderfully creative works of copper. (+1 Culture) Due to their isolation, however, the Zhirans remain backward and of little global interest. They have, however, fortified their capital and provided defense for their nation, and institutionalized the teaching of copper working. (+1 Education)
Note: Ive changed the rules a bit. You no longer have to pay to build cities. Ive tried to give small bonuses to those who already paid to build cities. Cities are also no longer listed in the stats. Instead, Special Cities are listed ECs, CCs and RCs.
