Update 4: Barbarians About
Years 300-350
LuckNES, still running, after a order scare that bothered me a little. I am back with another update. Maybe the best yet, but I don’t think I am all that good at writing them yet. We shall see form your opinions.
--------
In the Valley of the Holy Wars, as it was called after the centuries of religious conflict that took place there. We come to the nation of
Cradilon, after its victory over Silat, which seemed almost a miracle, and in fact they do believe it was a miracle. They soldiers returning to their families speak words of how Taig was with them that day. And how he smites down the enemies of Cradilon. Course to you and me this seems odd and completely unbelievable, but had you been pushed out of your own homelands nearly killed off then somehow with a smaller military force, pushed back the enemy in one unproven strategic move. And then to have the enemy be weakened by a misfortune of food stocks. Maybe then you would have believed it was a miracle to. Of course these stories prove to be great morale raisers and the people are more than eager to follow The One’s guidance. The first order of business was to bless the families of all the men who joined up on there own to fight the Holy War. They were then sent home to help rebuild. Rebuilding was the next task to be filled. On the rubble of the city of Mergon, a new city was being built. And so to was it’s name Mergon, the Capital was rebuilt and during this a great project was under taken. One in which a great palace was to be built for The One himself. It was also a place of worship for the people to flock to. Similar to OTL Vatican, it is a place of worship, the center of the faith and a fortress in the City of Mergon itself. This to raised the confidence of the population. The next order of business as The One calls it. Was to strike down at the heathen barbarians who double crossed them. Immediately he sent out a army of eight hundred crusaders to fight the barbarians. But the heathen Gods were on the side of the barbarians this time. With early success and pushing the barbarians out of the back of the valley and into the open fields to the north. The Crusaders came to something they hadn’t expected, three organized tribes. Each with thousands of barbarian warriors. The line is drawn, but for how long can the Crusaders hold back. With dwindling numbers, and large enemies Cradilon might once again fall. (- 500 Crusaders, + Mergon as Capital,+ Confidence,+1 Urban Economy)
Up next is Cradilons neighbor in the Holy Valley,
Tensiri. Continually expanding its religion and gathering the barbarians into religious warriors it fights back other tribes in the area and becomes dominant along with Cradilon. The religion is even spreading out of the valley and over the mountains. Word of Templar’s is spreading from tribes and people are beginning to gain interest. Will we see a future religious power emerge from this valley? Maybe.
(-200 Templar,+ Capital as Religious Center)
Now onto the
Doridan Confederacy, after the assassination of the hated dictator Boris a new man has taken over, his name is Frank Westchester, he is the new dictator of the Doridanians. After period of horrible life styles and slow expansion, it has finally kicked off founding a new city and expanding while fighting barbarian tribes. But now border clashes with Porisma may spark its first war. (-400 Spearmen, +1 Rural Economy)
Now onto
Forcharda, I know I am not going in to good of an order, you can shut up about it. So anyway they have a new UU, the Forcharda Berserkers, fierce fighters these lot. They are crazy, they burn themselves with torches to get an adrenaline rush that’s enough to let them battle for hours. Don’t ask why, they must be mental, I wouldn’t even burn myself, or my troops to defeat the Berbers, (oh wait). The Fire Emperor wanted war and to conquer the surrounding tribes with force. He sets up a diamond formation of phalanx type groups and spins the entire formation once in battle to confuse his enemies. This is highly effective in the west, but once trying to go North they find archers who simply shoot the formation fro ma distance.
(-1000 Spearmen,-100 Berserkers)
Into
Hoggonogr the battle hungry, battle hardened Empire of the great river. They begin a great project. A rapid race track on the river is assembled as a great sport for all who wish to indulge in sports. It looks to bring the people closer together as it will be remembered by all as the first official sporting event in the world. But this fun isn’t kept for long as the war drums are beaten again. South marches the army of Hoggonogr, 6000 strong it is worthy of the title army. As it approaches the tribes in the south the same tactics as against Ricin are used to high success. The barbarians tribes are killed off. But ones to the south manage to defend themselves. With Forcharda and Hoggonogr both pushing on the tribes it won’t be long before they are all gobbled up. On the other side of the empire they are expanding north. And reach the first of the great lakes. And contact with the northern countries is established.(-3000 Spearmen,-200 Archers, +1 Rural Economy)
The
Konarai Tribe has been doing lots of pillaging, and intense warfare. Founding two new cities, and continuing to be successful. An rule of not killing a child or women is being enforced more so now than ever. Anyone caught doing either shall have everything but outright torture done to him. As the armies expand West they run into a strong tribe, which halts their expansion. They expand into the mountains and a lot East. Nearly reaching the old areas of Ricin. A great temple of War is being built, the people admire its magnificence before it is even complete. It is guaranteed to be remembered and make the warriors remember. All those soldiers who fell in the wars can rest In the afterlife in this mass temple of gold, silver and stone. A perfect quote for now would be, “Only the dead see the end of war.” - Plato. But of course Plato doesn’t exist in this world.

(-600 Kotashi Raiders, +1 Urban trade)
Now to
Sonn, basic expansion goals while creating a nice irrigation system to increase the farming trade with the capital. Creating a nice archer filled army and a navy, something other countries don’t have. This brings trade by sea from other lands. The trade can make them rich if they harness it in time. Only time will tell. That’s the one thing we have plenty of. (+1 Trade and Rural Economy, -100 archers)
Finally we arrive at
Sayitia where continuous wars with the man tribes well continue. The North eastern man tribe is destroyed as the Aellas armies destroy them quickly taking man slaves for such things as reproduction. The Snake Temple in Niaz is a great temple dedicated to the Snake Goddess. The women love it, but the men… Not so much. (-300 Aellas, +1 Rural Economy)
Update Add-in
The
Hassanite Empire is a highly Germanic type/ war type nation, descending from the North they come and see the weaker tribes around the Great Lakes and in the Holy Valley. They easily defeat those they arrive at. And continue to push the tribes back with their superior numbers and weaponry. They bring something new to the Cradle, siege weaponry. In the mountains they come from warfare is fought by slinging rocks with catapults into hillside fortresses. Many in the cradle had not seen this coming as no one had ever heard more than legends of people across the Lakes. The horde of the Hassanites approach, but are the nations in the cradle prepared for such a thing?
