I wonder do we have a phrase yet for when someone starts a NES thinking they have lots of time, only for that time to be consumed by other things unexpectedly?![]()
Almost there but need to sleep now!
@Iggy your unanswered question, since there are only supposed to be 'families' / groups of species represented on the tree of life, I'm treating Abaddon's evolution as another single 'family', one of colonial organisms that have species that can no longer exist without each other.
Considering the inherent superiority of flagellar and spiculin-based transport systems, it's not hard to see why you're outclassed.
Ciliated cells that are equal in size with other flagellated cells will travel faster because filiated organisms have so many more locomotive units than flagellated cells. While a Euglena has only one flagellum for use, a Paramecium may have five to six thousand cilia that beat in near synchrony to help it move along.
Not only are my flagellated organisms larger than other ciliates, they also employ cilia.
