obligatory BNW screenshot thread

Maybe its a random perk to get at the Poles one last time :p. Quick - Someone get a picture of German Tanks and Russian Infantry!

Okay, these are new screenshots showing the trade route system........one shows a Brazilian city!

These are great quality

I have three thoughts from that video alone.
  • Rio is the capital. Since Brasilia is 50 years old, I sympathize, although it probably will perpetuate a belief that Brazil's capital is Rio.
  • That snake logo is very cool
  • Trade units's graphics do upgrade with time. Although it won't be named, that probably means "Galleons" are returning to the game.

Looking at this screenshot, I like to pretend it's an Ancient Dalek :p

^ Yes! Exactly what I was thinking!

At least if they break into a city the tiny people living inside can rest in the knowledge that they can't climb stairs

However, considering that they are the Assyrians, those people will be exterminated.

BTW, this screenshot shows Riga as a maritime city-state. Riga is new, isn't it? That could suggest another maritime besides Rio is getting a full civ.

Jakarta, Lisbon, Sydney and Quebec City are all Maritime and (I think) reasonable candidates for full-Civ status...

I was thinking Lisbon was mercantile. If it's maritime, the Portuguese are my number one guess, although Indonesia is still a possibility.

Didn't we see Venice in the Portuguese source?

Lisbon probably most reasonable

What's that barbarian unit?
I don't think it's a brute. Could this be a civs UU spawned by barbs?

^ Good spot!

Either:
1) A new early game melee unit, or
2) A UU somehow captured by barbs, which wouldn't currently be possible, or
3) Reworked art for Brutes.

2) doesn't seem likely, so I'd go with 1) or 3). Though the icon looks tomahawk-shaped...

Barbs, unlike CS, aren't capable of spawning UUs, right?

Otherwise I'd say this might be a hint at a new civ, the screenshot is staged so Firaxis could've placed a UU and made it a barb. Judging by their skin colour it could be a new African civ and it's not the Zulu, since those aren't Impis.

Yes, barb camps as far as I'm aware can't spawn UUs, and combat units cannot be captured. But why would a UU appear in barb colours?

I still think it might simply be a reworked Brute that no longer looks as similar to Warriors as it did before.

If it's a UU, it looks Native American to me.

I'm guessing 1.) and it was purposely put in for people to guess/speculate on it. Although if true I am worried about the fate of the swordsman, since in G&K they are rarely used as is. A new early game unit is even more competition for the poor swordsman.

Maybe swords are getting a unique promotion/buff and axemen will be the weaker iron-less version while leaving spears/pikes to their anti-mounted specialty.

It could be a new generic unit. Axemen probably.
