Let The Sun Never Set - Farewell SG for RFC

Right, everything seems to go pretty well. I am back and I'll play later today.

I read all the comments since my absense and blizzrd's to do list looks comprehensive, however, Dutch will be eager to settle Australia around these times, so I'll get some settlers to sit there sooner rather than later. This can be done while we engage in the Opium Wars.

Turn 0 Minor adjustments, mainly rerouting ships

Turn 1 We discover Biology, I choose to take Medicine next as not many of our cities is ready to build levees (wonders, etc.). Ottomans capture Sana'a and Saihut; they are once again collapsing. Alexandria builds theatre, next university. Durban builds university, next settler. Jerusalem builds library, next courthouse.

Turn 2 Our privateer sunks French caravel and heads towards Japanese/Khmer waters. Portugal founds Mozambique next to the ruins of Quelimane.

Turn 3 Our empire inhabits 100 million souls. Ottomans convert to Islam, still collapsing. Our caravel sunks while attacking Khmer caravel. Gladly our privateer is on its way to retaliate. Great Spy arrives in Kilia and infiltrates the city. Durban builds settler next Eiffel Tower. Chicago builds christian cathedral, next courthouse. Fort Rupert finishes university, next settler (for Vancouver).

Turn 4 Our privateer sunks a Japanese galley. Great General is born in Southampton, I decide to build a Military Academy there (more culture, navy). Cairo finishes observatory, next Jail. Durban switches Eiffel Tower to settler.

Turn 5 We get Medicine, next up Steam Power. France and her vassal Mali join the alliance againt Khmers. Dog soldiers killed. Privateer promotes to drill IV and sunks a Khmer caravel. We steal Steel from Dutch and let go for SP as well as they don't have any useful choices (SP->Railroad). Dublin finishes aqueduct, next intelligence agency.

Turn 6 Great Scientist is born in Alexandria. Our Golden Age ends. Fort Rupert finishes settler, next Red Coat. Chicago finishes courthouse, next Summer Palace. The Ottoman situation woorries me, so I switch all espionage towards the Netherlands. We already have enough to steal Nationalism and Ottomans are researching economics.

Turn 7 Cairo builds jail, next barracks for Red Coats. Our legendary privateer, with Captain Francis Drake;), sunks another Khmer caravel.

Turn 8 We discover Steam Power, next Assembly Line. Levees started in every city that isn't building anything too important. Navy, consisting of 3RDs in a Galleon escorted by a Frigate sets sail from Durban to Hongkong. Inverness founds Trading Company, next levee. Chicago finishes the Summer Palace, next levee.

Turn 9 We steal Nationalism from Turkey. Economics sold to numerous civs for cash. After upgrades we have 711 gold and income is +51 gpt at 90% science rate. Germany takes Tripoli and Incan army lands next to Hangzhou!:mischief: Chicago finishes levee, next airship.

Turn 10 Francis Drake sunks a Japanese galley. Incas capture Hangzhou!

Notes and suggestions:

-Our espionage should remain on the Netherlands and they should be directed to Railroad next. Anybody else doesn't have anything useful for us.
-The Privateer should be renamed to Francis Drake, I forgot.;)
-Our navy is around Singapore. What should we do with it? Take Guangzhou? Even Singapore? Before Incas take them..
-Settler is heading towards Vancouver. Others are in progress; mainly in Durban, Red Coats too. One is in a galleon ready to head towards Australia. One settler is also needed for Port Nolloth.
-I think it is soon time to loose the 11 city limit
-Turkey is ready to collapse, should we give them a little push?

Spoiler :
BTW, if you already haven't, I recommend you all to check out Embryodead's awesome modmod, Sword of Islam!

Looks good. We probably don't need to use top defenders (Redcoats) in Australia, because the AI isn't going to send top amphibious attack units, even if it does declare on us. There were some Quecha warriors kicking around somewhere that could defend our outpost settlers just as well.

What is going to be more important is getting some workers to wherever we found our next cities in good time. Although I still think it is too early to found any new cities.

A case could and should be made for capturing Hong Kong though, this would be a very good idea.

Redcoats aren't going to be enough to start a push for Domination, we will need Tanks for that.

Yeah, Hong Kong/Guangzhou looks really tasty, but you need to be able to defend it and expand it culturally (Inca capturing Hangzhou is kinda lucky that way since your culture won't be affected from the north and east now--of course you'll vote for the Chinese to get it eventually in conference). A quick attack on Khmer from both fronts will probably do the trick (Singapore should also be captured historically). I wouldn't capitulate Khmer though since they are rather small...America should be vassalized since they have practically the whole NAm in their stability map.

I see some unimproved forests around Alexandria...a bunch of workers timed to come online just around the time of learning Railroad might be good.

Flight is crucial for a domination game (flying troops into conquered cities and flying expert veterans out). Your "hubs" at this time should be your main cities (America, Great Britain, Egypt, Durban).

Don't start expanding until you've learned fascism, combustion and flight--tanks and bombers will give you an advantage that nobody will be able to catch up on, and you do need to switch to police state/nationhood/free religion for stability when you start conquering and building more cities.

In fact, you're still in Pacifism and representation, i.e. not ready for expansion.

I personally would take both Singapore and Guangzhou (to be renamed Hong Kong) just because at the moment we are ready for that. Later Khmer might vassalise to somebody that we are not too eager to fight against. Also we shouldn't vassalise Khmers now that China is our vassal. BTW, China can't demand Hong Kong in a congress, because of that.

Yeah the forests in Alexandria need lumbermills, for a while at least.

IIRC the Francis Pizarro galleon just arrived in Southampton, so it can take the cannons to Middle East and on the way back it can take some quechuas to Durban.

I personally would take both Singapore and Guangzhou (to be renamed Hong Kong) just because at the moment we are ready for that.
Guangzhou (to be renamed Hong Kong) should be taken because it will prove to be a useful city towards Domination, but Singapore should not. 'Just because we can' is not a good enough reason at this time. There are many cities that we could conquer at the moment, but not very many that we should.

Singapore will not add anything useful to our quest for Domination in terms of land area and will only prove to be a drain on our research. Hong Kong will also slightly lower our research rate as our 12th city, but at least it will provide some production output and contribute some tiles towards our Domination threshold.

Later Khmer might vassalise to somebody that we are not too eager to fight against.

We will not be afraid of anyone in a few more turns once we have access to Infantry and then Tanks, so the argument that Khmer might vassalise to someone who we don't want to fight against is moot.

Also we shouldn't vassalise Khmers now that China is our vassal.
Agreed. We want Burma and Bangladesh for ourselves later on anyway.

I wasn't concerned of anyone being an actual threat, since that never happens. It was more like that, if Khmers end up being Spain's vassal, we need to seriously strenghten our navy and coastal city protection. Galleons from La Coruna reach Southampton in one turn. That would direct us from concentrating on other, more important, matters for some time. Nontheless they'll more of a pestilence, so I guess we leave Singapore for know.

Are you there Rhye?

It's OK to pass up the turn set if anyone is too busy for a short period of time. It would help to keep the momentum going also.

IMO you can play whenever you feel like it. If Rhye suddenly shows up, he can be next. It has been three days...

Turn 0: nothing done

Turn 1: Spices for Crab trade with Turkey over. They would like 17 gold per turn hahahahahaah. They'll got 17 cannonballs per turn. Cannons are already on their way from Southampton. Killed a Khmer caravel.

Turn 2: Arabian respawn. Russia asks for Chemistry, I refuse. Assembly Line completed, now heading to Industrialism for tanks. Our troops land near a Guangzhou weakened by bombardment.

Turn 3: Isabella wants Corporation. Farewell. Natives appear in the American East Coast. Battle of Guangzhou: it will fall next turn.

Turn 4: Apostolic Palace election: I vote for myself. A Great Engineer is born: rushing Wembley is useless, then I put it to sleep until next GP for a golden age. Guangzhou taken.

Turn 5: We won the election.

Turn 6: And Wembley is the new home stadium of white-and-red Southampton F.C. The Kremlin is completed in the same turn. A Great Spy is born in Inverness. I'm keeping it for a later use of golden age.

Turn 7: Industrialsm, at last. Next comes fascism. Japan is now Spanish vassal. Americans spawned as expected. Less expected was Indian respawn.

Turn 8: A spy is being transported to America. But for now, nothing to steal.

Turn 9: Fascism researched. Next Railroad and Combustion. War is automatically declared to America. Netherlands, India and Inca also declare on them. Maybe we should protect New York from the Dutch? I'm approaching infantry there. A Great General is born in the capital.
