winG - ?

Installed civII, got error code "winG load failure. Error 2." I searched for any winG files (which the doc says WILL be installed) and didn't find any. I used the default directory. I also installed fantasy worlds then (which has the updates) but still get the error message. What is winG and how do I install it? It's not on the civII CD, at least not under that name. I appreciate and thank you for the chance to list this question.

what's your operating system? civ2 is not very compatible with win2000.

Using win98 complete version (2?) - the one with ICS. Thanx for the tip about win2000 - I probably won't upgrade fro quite a while anyway. I have played civII for a long time, and had no problem previously (pentium233, win98 full version also.) I THINK I might have had this error message long ago in an installation too but can't remember what I did to get around it!

WinG.dll is a file to help games work on the windows system, I think the win2000 confict has something to do with 16 bit vs 32 bit & winG. It is available for download at the windows web site, and I have heard that is in the civ version 2.42 and can be installed from there.
