Star Trek Online... Anyone Interested

I honestly don't know why a Fed player would want to PvP against another Fed player. KvK is just sooooo incredibly dull -- and not just because both teams have cloaks. It's also because both teams are pretty much identical. It's not like rock-paper-scissors, as FvK is. It's two teams who have identical ships and near-identical gear. FvF will be the same thing. It's just boring playing against someone who is identical to you in an MMO. It works in e.g. a First Person Shooter because there's more skill, reflexes, etc involved (and even then, players start in very different parts of the map, and often have a choice of weapons - a big part of FPS play is leveraging that). But in an MMO it's just a much more formulaic game, and when both sides are identical it merely comes down to chance.

Oh and thank god they brought in respec... Seriously, how could that have been left out from release?! Been dying to get rid of some now redundant skill points...

Wheeee!! I just did the Gorn anti-invasion mission where you help kill 60 frigates, 30 cruisers, and so on (the Gorn equivalent to what I think is the Starbase 24 vs Klingons mission). Flying a decent tier-2 escort, it was literally and figuratively a blast wading into a cloud of frigates and just hammering away on whatever got in front of me. :ar15:

And there was a magazine code that unlocked the classic Star Trek uniforms, so I've outfitted my (all-female) bridge crew in proper skirts. :D

I really wish you could change the gender of your BOffs... Both my chars are female with all male Boffs. Lucky ladies...

Finally made it to Borg space! Have the chance to do some Borg killin' in my Sovereign class. :D My Klingon is also coming along quite nicely. Commander 8 right now but hope to get Captain soon along with a Vor'cha class. He has a D7 class now.

I did "infected" the other day... it seemed like an awful lot of work compared to the other dailys (solo PvP and solo PvE). Don't think I'll be doing it again :p

Ditto for "Big Dig". Though running around with a crowd of captains mowing down Romulan soldiers was fun for a while.

Oh man Big Dig annoys the hell out of me. The mobs always spawn back too quickly and it takes forever!

Finally made it to Captain, have my Defiant-esque escort loaded for bear, outfitted my crew with the improved TOS uniforms from the v1.1 release, and found a much better video card to throw in the PC that - briefly - showed the graphics that I'd been missing. Then a bunch of circumstances not least of which is a "fake AV" virus infection have kept me from playing for days. :(

Aaaaand I'm bored with the game. It was fun while it lasted but there isn't much that holds me. Chances are I'll just level my Tactical up to Captain to get a Defiant class or wait and see what the Caitan race will look like then call it quits.

:bump:

Just checking in to see how it is going.

I have been playing pretty much 20+ hours a week and wondering if anyone was still playing. If you are PM me... I am going to start a fleet and wanted the Civ players to know.:assimilate:

It's going pretty well, I've got three Feds up to VA, and am currently leveling up a Klingon through Commander. You still playing?

Still playing; but not as much. Kinda stuck to week ends right now.

Has anyone worked on the Foundry? I have been working on it but haven't gotten very far...

When I get my new flat sorted out :)mad:) I'm gonna start playing HARD again, and hopefully make some cool crap in the Foundry! :D

I've been playing again after a reinterest in Star Trek. I really like the new Stardock and I'm digging the Excelsior class that's kind of a nice alternative to the 4 nacelle ships.

Give me a shout if you're online or friend me, I'm (big surprise here) @Igloodude on there, usually KDFing these days.

I've been on-off about playing it again, but this past month of not-playing-Eve-despite-trying-my-darndest pretty much convinced me. It's pretty lasers in the Star Trek universe - I'm off to blast some Klingon scum again.

Okaydoke, so on my second playing of this game I'm really enjoying it. The combat is repetitive (though space combat is great), the missions themselves are fairly predictable, but at the same time it's all very fun and I'm loving the actual stories and the continuity with Star Trek lore.

Also, Galaxy-class in 10 levels, that's enough to keep me going

Yeah, the missions when you're levelling are kind of boring, although the stories are pretty cool. The Featured Episodes are AMAZING though. Some really great stories packed in there, and the missions themselves are certainly not predictable or repetitive!

The imagination of the Foundry builders is amazing too. There is a lot of good scenarios being made by the game's fans....
