I founded 3 Indonesian cities on 1 new continent. Only 1 of them contained 2 copies of a unique resource (nutmeg). I though all three were supposed to give something; what happened?
Each city has to be on a new continent that you have not already founded a city on. So a city on three new continents, not three cities on one new continent.
