Indonesia bug?

Playing as Indonesia and I've sent my second settler to a nearby island with a gold lux. I have researched mining and popped him on top of the gold but I'm not seeing gold in my happiness indicator and have gone to unhappy (even with my unique lux).

I should have connected gold this way so I guess this is a bug, right? (I don't have any mods loaded).

Not a bug, but WAD. Each tile can only have one resource, so when you founded your city on the gold tile, the gold was replaced by Indonesia's unique luxury.

Is that true for bonus resources too? Settle on a cow, poof, your veal is now a scented pastry spice?
Heck, strategic resources? Indonesian cities destroying Iron and Horse is kinda... major...

Yes, to strategics -- poof. I've never settled an Indonesian city on bonus resources, but one resource per tile is one resource per tile. You will never find a tile in the game with two resources (of any type or mix of types) on it.

I made that mistake before, cost me the game.
